 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

  "METAL ASSEMBLY SYSTEM FOR COATINGS AND CONSTRUCTIONS"
The invention aims to establish a metal assembly system and relates more particularly to easy and rapid hooking means allowing to join together and without the aid of any accessory or any tool, the various elements constituting panels, frames, etc. * intended to cover a wall or to form caissons for the establishment of partitions or other metal constructions.

   According to the invention, the various sheet metal panels, to be assembled and hooked together, are provided alternately, some with double U-shaped folds, preferably provided along their longitudinal parallel edges, the others, single folds, intended to engage exactly ,, during assembly, between the wings formed by the aforesaid double folds, the edges of the panels thus folded having

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 possibly a certain inclination with respect to the plane of the latter.

   The invention provides that the partitioning thus formed may be supplemented by framing elements, @
 EMI2.1
 l = x4 by moldings / E = aléei3 / poùrvue means, hooking intended to engage for example the flat end portions provided in the aforesaid panels.

   By way of example, some embodiments of the subject of the invention are described below, with reference to the appended schematic drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 and 2 are perspective views of two sheet metal panels, according to the invention, the folds of which are intended to be engaged one in the other.

   Fig. 3 is a fragmentary perspective view of an assembly of several of these elements.

   Fig. 4, 5 and 6 are partial views, in tram- versal section, showing the frame elements in the form of a molding and their mode of attachment to the panels.

   Fig. 7 is a partial view, in cross section, of a frame element intended to join two series of adjacent panels.

   Fig. 8 shows an element in the form of a console provided for the same purposes as the previous one.

   Fig. 9 shows a partial view, in horizontal section, of a covering comprising an end element forming a frame for a door or window opening.

   Fig. 10 is a view similar to FIG. 9, showing an identical arrangement applied in the case of a door or window located at wall level.

   Fig. 11 is a partial view in horizontal section, showing a connection system between two adjacent panels

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 presenting different attachment folds.

   Fig. 12 is a variant in which the sheet elements are reinforced by a filling material.

   Fig. 13 shows the construction of a box established according to the invention.

   As shown in Fig. 1, one of the elements of the assembly forming a panel, consists of a sheet a provided along its longitudinal parallel edges, with double folds b and c, in the form of a U, the inclination of which, relative to - port to the plane of the sheet, forms an obtuse angle.

   The upper and lower ends of these folds are cut at d, so that the flat part of the panel extends slightly beyond said folds, as shown in a and f.

   Fig. 2 shows another element of the assembly, forming a panel g, in which the longitudinal parallel edges have simple folds h and 1, the inclination of which relative to the plane of the sheet, forms an additional acute angle to the obtuse angle formed by the double folding of the panel a.

   Fig. 3 shows how the single folding of the panels g are engaged in the double folding of the neighboring panels a, with a view to the mutual attachment of these elements.

     In order to complete the assembly thus formed, and to maintain the various elements in the desired plane., The projecting ends 1 and f of the panels a are engaged in the double folds of framing elements which can have various shapes. .

   These latter elements may possibly be in the form of a molding j (Fig. 4 or 5), a chair rail k (Fig. 7) or even a bracket 1 (Fig. 8), 8 and the last one.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 being provided more especially in the case of kitchen walls, shelves or the like.
 EMI4.1
 When the coating is to extend to the p1af ond tdlü..locaJ, the invention provides the arrangement shown in FIG. 6 which shows a framing element IL in the double folds of which the ends e or f are engaged. panels covering the March as well as the ceiling. It is understood that these various framing elements can take any desirable shape and present an adequate ornamentation, in order to embellish or enhance as appropriate the assembly thus formed.

   It should be further noted that the element shown in FIG. 4, for example, can be provided at the lower part of the covering, at floor height, so as to constitute a plinth.

   When the walls of the room to be coated have angles, in particular in the openings formed by the doors or windows, the rural coating can be supplemented by corner elements such as n (Fig. 9) to which the panels will be attached: . These elements can effectively be held against the window or door frame o, using pieces of wood p fixed to the wall in any suitable manner.

   A similar arrangement is shown in Fig. 10, which is particularly applicable where the door or
 EMI4.2
 window / at mnr level k cover.

  ..
 EMI4.3
 when aoax paunemix aL1.JacCU1 "5 to reV8" lïen "cannot be exactly joined by an intermediate element and the exterior panels to be joined together have one double folds and the other single folds, it will suffice to cut out the corresponding folded elements, to a sufficient length, providing, however, an additional strip of sheet metal q intended to be folded at right angles, which strips will be

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 engaged between two pieces of wood r and iL fixed to the wall and arranged parallel to each other, (Fig. 11).

   If, for example, thin metal is used and the coating elements are to be reinforced, or if the possible vibrations due to the metal itself are to be avoided, it will be particularly advisable to apply the panels of masses or pieces of wood (Fig. 12), or other soundproof or insulating materials.

   As indicated in Fig. 13, it should be noted that the invention allows, by a judicious assembly of panels and frames, the easy and rapid constitution of metal boxes for all appropriate uses such, for example, building walls, advertising panels, furniture. , etc ..

  According to the arrangement shown in the latter Fig., The framing elements u and v, provided with single or double folds, engage the corresponding folds of the panels w, x, the whole being held by suitable tension means, by example using a tensioner y,
It should be noted that according to the various arrangements which have just been described, it will suffice, during assembly, to engage the folds between them by simply pressing on the sheet metal of the panels, until the adjacent flat ends of the latter are perfectly level with one another ,,, the joint thus formed, once the assembly has been carried out, presenting only a simple junction line.

   It is easy to see that depending on the sheet thicknesses used, the assembly system according to the invention can be used without distinction for the manufacture of metal constructions of all kinds.

   The sheets or the elements used may be of various thicknesses and will advantageously be enamelled with a view to

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

 preserve them from aunt oxidation resulting from moisture.

   Among the possible applications, other than the coverings, we could particularly mention the construction of houses of the colonial type, enamelled or stainless steel furniture, etc.

   It will be understood that such assemblies can be carried out easily and quickly and will therefore be most economical.
