Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

     @@ bras 6 du commutateur est branché par le

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

   Device for recording and hearing sounds.

   The invention relates to radiophonie devices particularly used by amateurs for recording sound on discs.

   In these recording devices, the low frequency amplifier is used to amplify the currents modulated by a microphone. These currents feed a pick-up whose needle oscillates and leaves a trace on the device recording the sounds, such as recording discs, tape or steel wire, film, or any other recording system.

   In the known devices, powder microphones or carbon granules are commonly used. These microphones require the use of voltage and

 perfectly direct current.

   However, T.S.F. Modern ones are powered by alternating current, so that to power the microphone one has recourse to a direct current source separate from the apparatus, such as battery or accumulator, means in any case 'irrational.

   The aim of this invention is precisely to avoid this drawback,
To this end, the invention relates to a device for recording and hearing sounds, characterized in that the pick-up or other electric recording and playback device and the electromagnetic or electrodynamic loudspeaker are connected to the devices. amplifiers by connection means enabling the loudspeaker to be used as a microphone for recording sounds.

   The diagram of the accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the invention.

   In this diagram, the device comprises a pickup 3, one or more amplifying lamps 1, 2, an electromagnetic loudspeaker 4 and a switch 5; the device is completed by a set of radio tuning amplifiers, which naturally precede the lamp 1. The magnetic loudspeaker 4, independently of its loudspeaker functions, also constitutes in itself a very good microphone.

   One could also use a permanent magnet electro dynamic speaker which behaves in a similar way.

   By simply operating switch 5, it is possible to switch from reproduction of sounds by means of a pick-up to recording of sounds or speech; these sounds causing the membrane of speaker 4 to vibrate are then recorded by pick-up 3.

     @@ arm 6 of the switch is connected by the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 trice 1, while the arm 7 is connected by the conductor 9 to one end of the output transformer 10 of the final lamp, the other end of this transformer being connected to ground,
In the reproduction position, the arms 7 and 6 of the switch 5 are lowered to the position A; one end of pick-up 3 is grounded; the other end, through conductor 11, contact 12, arm 6, conductor 8, goes to the grid of the first amplifier lamp 1.

   On the other hand, one end of the loudspeaker 4 is earthed, while the other end, through the conductor 14, contact 15, arm 7 of the switch 5, conductor 9 is connected to the secondary of the output transformer of 1 'amplifier.

   Under these conditions, the device thus produced functions like a normal electric phonograph.

   For recording, the arms 6 and 7 of switch 5 are lowered to position B; one end of the loudspeaker 4 always remains earthed, while the other end by the conductors 14 and 16, contact 17, arm 6, conductor 8, is connected to the grid of the first amplifier lamp 1. The pick- up 3 is connected to ground by one end, while the other end by conductors 11 and 19, contact 20, arm 7, conductor 9, is connected to one end of the final transformer 10, whose other end is at the mass.

   Under these conditions, the loudspeaker functions exclusively as a microphone, reproducing no sound and thus avoiding any acoustic resonance effect (Larsen effect).

   The oscillations of the membrane of the loudspeaker 4 result in variations in voltage at the gate of the first amplifying lamp 1, and consequently in vibrations of the recording needle of the pick-up 3.

 when using the loudspeaker as a microphone for recording sounds.
