Joint for metal pipes and others.
The present invention relates to a gasket for tuya in cast iron or other material, which gasket, while being easy to assemble and inexpensive, offers all guarantees of tightness and long life, whatever the constituent material of the pipes or devices to be assembled
This invention finds its application fully indicated the pipes of water and gas pipelines and in general for all pipes conveying fluids under pressure.
To date, different joint devices for pipes have been used, but all have one or the other and even several of the following disadvantages:
A) They require more or less extensive or specialized labor B) Their safety is very limited
C) They have zero or almost zero flexibility
D) They require the use of bolts or screws which oxidize quickly, alter the resistance of the joint and cause

assembly of pipes.
The object of the present invention is to overcome these drawbacks.
According to this invention, in a recess: - slow formed in the socket of the pipe or the like is placed an elastic ring of rubber or any other suitable material, the section of this ring showing on each side of its body a triangular section, the tip being directed in the direction of the pressure of the fluid and in such a way that after the placement of the male part of the pipe to be coupled said ring is wedged between the socket and the male part of said pipe.
The embedding in the socket of the pipe - can gain depth in the direction of insertion of the male end, so that the pressure applied to the joint increases the jamming and thus the tightness.
To further increase the seal, the seal may have a void so that the cross section on both sides has a V-shape.
The inlet of the socket may be larger than the outer section of the male end of the pipe to be coupled, so that, through the elastic joint, an angular displacement of the pipes to be coupled is easy, without compromising the sealing of their coupling.
In the accompanying drawing there is shown an embodiment of the present invention, given by way of example.
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section through the female part of a nested pipe, showing the ease of the seal after assembly.
Fig. 2 is a semi-cross section following: C-D of fig.l

Fig. 4 is a section through the slightly conical male end.
Fig. 5 is a semi-section along A-B of fig. 3
This seal comprises an elastic ring 1 of triangular section (see fig.l) made of V elm (see fig. 3), placed in a suitable recess & in the socket 3 of the pipe before installation, and the point directed in the direction of the fluid pressure.
This embedding, which preferably increases in depth in the direction of the insertion of the male end, allows the elastic ring 1 to jam between the embedding 3 and the male end 4. The bottom of the recess: ment 3¯ can serve at the same time as a shoulder 5 for the joint during coupling.
The assembly takes place as follows:
With this ring 1 placed, the male end 4 of the pipe is introduced into the female socket 3¯ and this simple ope tion produces a perfectly tight seal under any pressure.
The greater the pressure of the fluid, the greater the wedging of the elastic ring 1 between the recess 2 made in the socket 6 and the male end 4, as explained above.
As a result, the greater the pressure, the greater the guarantee of tightness.
The end of the male pipe can be cylindrical or slightly conical 4a at its end, depending on whether a greater or lesser pressure of the joint is desired.
The inlet and the bottom of the socket have an opening larger than the outer section of the male part d @ to be coupled. This arrangement makes it possible, by means of the elastic seal 1, to produce an elastic coupling so as to avoid the drawbacks of rigj couplings.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
To further increase the seal to be provided by the seal 1, the latter may include a void, so that the cross section offers a V-shape on both sides; the pressurized fluid going in the direction of the arrows will have an action on a larger surface than if the section through the material had a triangular section on each side of the elastic body.
The invention has been described and illustrated purely as an indication and in no way limiting, and it goes without saying that numerous modifications can be made to its details, without departing from its spirit.
