 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

  "DEVICE FOR IRONING TIES"
Tie ironing devices are already known.

  These devices consist mainly of an ironing element adapting to the shape of the tie and generally provided with an electric heating element. These known devices do not lend themselves to ironing proper, since they do not allow an ironing action to be exerted. Their action is rather based on the fact that the tie is stretched over an ironing element having sharp edges and adapting exactly to the shape of the said. tie, which is thus smoothed by the ironing element without the latter moving relative to the tie.

   Practical tests have shown that proper ironing is not obtained in this way and that the silk with which these ties are made can easily burn or, at the very least, deteriorate greatly as a result of

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 the high temperature of the heating element.

   On the other hand, the present invention aims to establish a device making it possible to exert a perfect ironing action.

  For this purpose, the ironing element, which here also adapts to the shape of the tie, consists of a body whose side walls and edges are rounded in the direction of height and which has a width less than that of regular ties, so that it can move in all directions inside the tie. The upper face of said ironing body is provided with an optionally removable and reversible handle which is slightly remote from the wider end of the ironing body, in the direction of the tip of the latter.

   According to one embodiment of the present invention, the ironing body can be constituted by a hollow element in which it is possible to place an electric heating element, pour hot water or insert a heated rod, as it has. already been proposed for cloth irons.

   According to another embodiment, the ironing device consists of a solid metal body, which can be heated over a fire.

   The use of hollow ironing body capable of receiving different heating elements makes it possible to use the tie ironing device according to the invention anywhere and in particular when traveling, since there is no limitation to a determined heating element and which can be used, depending on the circumstances, either an electric heating element, or hot water, or a heated spit, or fire heating.

   In addition, the fact that the device according to the invention

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 has side walls and rounded edges and has a width slightly less than that of common ties, allows a normal ironing action to be exercised by moving the ironing body inside the tie, this both in the longitudinal and transverse direction of the latter. This circumstance makes it possible to iron the tie "in pipe", without stretching it and without too much folded folds, on the one hand, and prevents burning the tie, on the other hand, since the silk is not, cane so far, subjected to the action of the ironing or heating element on which it is strongly stretched, but is smoothed by the iron in an ironing movement.

   Thanks to the fact that the upper face of the ironing body is provided with a handle located at the wide end of said body, but offset towards the tip thereof, the device according to the invention can be handled like a iron. normal ironing, that is to say that while exerting pressure on the ironing body, it can be moved in all directions inside the tie, especially in the transverse direction.

  During this last movement, the tie fabric slides over the rounded walls of the ironing body, so that the tie can be ironed "in pipe", so as to provide a smooth surface free from transverse or longitudinal pinches.

   The accompanying drawing shows an embodiment of the tie ironing device according to the invention.

   Fig. 1 is a side view of the ironing device according to the invention.

   Fig. 2 shows this ironing device introduced into the tie.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

   Fig. 3 is a sectional view of the ironing device taken along line 3-3 of FIG. 2.

   Fig. 4 is a plan view of said ironing device.

   In this drawing, a denotes the ironing body according to the invention, established to receive the heating element, or to be filled with it. The ironing element a is handled by means of a handle b, which is preferably removable and reversible and which, to enable the user. to exert pressure, during ironing, is provided on the upper face of the device and is offset from the widened end of this device towards the tip of the latter. To allow an ironing movement to be carried out and to facilitate the latter, the body a has side walls c and rounded edges, so that this body can be moved inside the tie in all directions, namely , longitudinally and transversely.

   To facilitate the introduction of the ironing body into the tie, it is preferable to make the aforesaid point thinner than the part. Thanks to the arrangement allowing the inversion of the handle, the latter can be oriented either towards the more end. wide, or towards the narrower end of the ironing body, as shown in solid lines in the drawing, which makes it possible to adjust the pressure exerted by means of this handle.

   Instead of being provided with a screw cover, as shown in FIG. 4, the electrically heated iron may have a smooth surface, like the iron body shown in FIGS. 1 and 2. In this case, the electric heating element will be introduced through the rear (wider) end of the device.

   It is understood that the device according to the invention
