Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

    PROCEDE DESTINE A RENDRE LE CAOUTCHOUC ET DES MA- TERIAUX ANALOGUES INATTAQUABLES PAR LE FEU.

   Conformément à l'invention,on ajoute à chaque livre

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 ( 454 gr.

    PROCESS FOR MAKING RUBBER AND SIMILAR MATERIALS UNATTACKABLE BY FIRE.

   The invention relates to a method for rendering rubber and similar materials fire-proof.

   The object of the invention is to treat rubber or similar materials, in the raw or raw state, in such a way that it does not catch fire when it is brought into contact with an open flame.

   For this purpose, the invention consists in chemically treating rubber or the like with a neutral ether of inorganic acids, such as tri-phenyl or tri-cresyl phosphate or tri-phenyl borate.

   According to the invention, is added to each book

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 (454 gr.) Crude rubber 5 to 15% of an acid ether emulsion obtained in any well known manner.

   This addition is carried out to the usual mixture, preferably at the time of masticating with the usual fillers, sulphide and accelerators. The acid ether may be of the class of tri-phenyl or tri-cresyl phosphate or of tri-phenyl borate.

   For the purpose of exfoliation, the acid ether is first mixed or dissolved, in the required quantity, in the usual solvents, such as solvent naptha, carbon bisulphate, chlorinated derivatives of methane, ethane and l. ethylene. When the acid ether is mixed or dissolved and added to the raw rubber, the mixture is ready for scrubbing the fabric in the usual manner.

   This is how a process is carried out which will make it possible to make rubber or other similar materials unassailable by fire in a simple manner.
