Fig. 1 représente, vu'de face, un appareil de signalisa- tion suivant un premier mode d'exécution;
Fig. 2 montre une coupe, suivant 2-2 fig. 1, de cet ap- pareil ;
Fige. 3 et 4 représentent, respectivement de face et en coupe suivant 4-4 fig.3, un deuxième mode d'exécution;
Fig, 5 montre une variante.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
Dans les figures 3 et 4 la source lumineuse 6 ainsi que son réflecteur 9 sont montés à l'extrémité du manche 3 et le voyant 1 est illuminé sur ses deux faces par le faisceau issu de la source.6, ce faisceau étant avantageusement rendu parallèle à;
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

IMPROVEMENTS TO SIGNALING DEVICES.
The invention relates to signaling and relates in particular to portable woolly signaling devices.
Its main aim is to establish these devices in such a way that they meet the needs of intermittent signaling, both diurnal and nocturnal, and are essentially manageable and simple.
It consists, for this purpose, in constituting said devices with the aid of a sight glass, of suitable conformation and coloring, provided with a handle for its handling, and capable of being illuminated, either by direct light, or by transparency, using a light source suitably placed in relation to the indicator light, and supplied from a source housed in the indicator handle.
Apart from this main arrangement, it also consists in providing means for concentrating the beams of the focus on the sight glass, as well as means allowing the flow of the source to be interrupted and restored at will,
thus limiting this flow to the requirements of use of the instrument. '
Other features characteristic of the object of the invention will emerge more fully from the more detailed description.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
cut following certain preferred embodiments, given by way of example, and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 shows, seen from the front, a signaling device according to a first embodiment;
Fig. 2 shows a section, according to 2-2 fig. 1, of this apparatus;
Freezes. 3 and 4 show, respectively from the front and in section along 4-4 fig.3, a second embodiment;
Fig, 5 shows a variant.
Referring to Figures 1 and 2, the apparatus is composed of a sight glass 1 of suitable shape, and for example triangular as shown, made of a suitable material, opaque or transparent, and preferably translucent as it is. 'is mounted in a frame 2, using clips, tabs, or the like 31, the frame 2 receiving a conformation substantially similar to that of the sight glass, triangular in the example, To this frame is assembled a handle or handle 3, hollow, forming a reservoir or housing, and for this purpose provided with a removable cover 4.
On the frame 2 is also mounted a support 5 for a light source which, in the example, is constituted by an electric bulb 6, in which case the housing formed in the handle receives cells or accumulators 7, and the removable cover is provided with a spring 8 ensuring the contacts between the elements and the current starting terminals.
Associated with the bulb 6 is a reflector 9 and a protective element 10, and the conformations of the support 5 and of the reflector 9 are chosen such that the entire extent of the sight glass is suitably illuminated in a substantially equal manner.
With the light source chosen, the support 5 is made of conductive material, and it is connected by the frame 2, which is also conductive, to the conductive wall of the handle or handle 3, while the other terminal of the light source 6 is connected, by an insulated cable 11, to a terminal 12 mounted in an insulating element 13 fixed to the end of the handle or handle 3.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
sliding in insulating material, is arranged between the terminal terminal 15 of the elements 7 and the terminal 13, and a conductive element 16 passing through this pin makes it possible, in an extreme position of the latter, to establish contact between the terminals 15 and 12, while this contact is broken in the other extreme position of the spindle.
The switch 14 is, as shown, preferably mounted in a plane perpendicular to that of the indicator.
Of course, instead of an electric bulb 6, one could also provide another light source, for example a flame of a suitable gas, such as acetylene, the handle 3 then serving as a reservoir for this gas; naturally also, instead of a single focal point, several luminous focal points could be provided to illuminate the indicator.
To use the instrument, if the indicator light is made of opaque material, the face illuminated by the source 6 is turned in the direction of transmission of the signals, the rear of the reflector, as well as the support, preferably receiving. a color similar to that of the seer,
If the indicator light is made of transparent material, it is the side of the indicator lamp opposite to the source 6 which will be turned in the direction of transmission of the signals, and if the material of the indicator lamp is translucent, the two sides can be used for transmission of the seer,
In Figures 3 and 4, the light source 6 and its reflector 9 are mounted at the end of the handle 3 and the indicator light 1 is illuminated on both sides by the beam coming from the source 6, this beam being advantageously made parallel at;
or converging towards the sight glass by an appropriate conformation of the reflector, for example that of a paraboloid more or less flattened in the direction perpendicular to the faces of the sight glass.
In this case, the indicator is preferably made of an opaque or translucent material, and it will be noted that it can be used on both sides without distinction.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
An interesting embodiment is that shown in FIG. 5, in which the sight glass is either composed of two parallel planes 1 leaving between them a free space 17, or else of a transparent material of a certain thickness made more or less opaque or translucent on its two large faces,
Some of the rays coming from the source in this case pass through the space 17 or the thickness of the material of the indicator light, clearly illuminating the inner edge of the frame 2, which surrounds the indicator with a luminous frame. delimiting it in a clearly visible way.
This effect can be increased, if desired, by providing the frame with suitably oriented faces, for example bevelled and if necessary made reflective.
In Figures 3 to 5, as in Figures 1 and 2, several light sources could be provided, and the handle or handle 3 serves, here again, to accommodate the source supplying the light source, that is to say, in the examples chosen, to cells or accumulators, outputting into the bulb 6, passing through the switch member 14, the arrangement of the latter member being similar to that of the example of FIGS. 1 and 2.
As goes without saying, and as has already been understood, it is understood that the invention is not limited to the embodiments more especially described and shown, but it allows modifications and encompasses the variants and .other equivalents.
