<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
l'é- tablissement d'un circuit parafant de l'ajutage 1 vers un ajutage 3 conduisant au générateur G, pour revenir, sous forme d'eau chaude, vers un ajutage 4, en communication, ou suscep- tible d'être mis alors en communication, avec ladite chambre de mélange, (;
'est ainsi, comme représenté sur la fig. 1, que l'on peut agencer de façon telle, le piston creux P coulissant dans un corps de cylindre 6, que, lorsqu'on ouvre le robinet à partir de sa position de fermeture, l'eau froide ne puisse d'abord que se rendre vers la chambre de mélange 2, à travers par exemple des orifices 7, ménagés dans le fond dudit piston, puis, à partir d'une certaine position, ledit piston puisse venir dégager au moins une lumière 8, du corps de cylindre, conduisant à l'ajutage 3, l'eau chaude pouvant alors arriver à la chambre de mélange par l'ajutage 4 qui lui est relié directement,
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
EMI7.1

<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
Pour effectuer le réglage, il suffira, soit (fig. 5) de dévisser la ou lesdites bagues, si elles sont vissées, soit(fig. 3 et 6) de libérer un écrou de serrage 24 ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>

<Desc/Clms Page number 11>
<Desc/Clms Page number 12>
Suivant une variante de réalisation, illustré sur la fig 14, on peut remplacer le levier 43 par deux leviers 431 432 articulés l'un à l'autre en 55 et montés de façon également arti culée sur deux supports tels que 56; 57;
<Desc/Clms Page number 13>
6,
Dans chaque case outre les fonctions régulatrice
<Desc/Clms Page number 14>

hot -, to arrange them, and mount them in such a way that being connected, on the one hand, to the pipe bringing one of the fluids, for example cold water, on the other hand, to a generator supplying the other fluid, for example a generator or hot water accumulator and, finally, to a receiving pipe, it is possible,
depending on the position of an appropriate shutter and distributor member, either pass only the first fluid to the receiving pipe, or divert part of it to the aforesaid generator to cause the latter to flow in a return duct to the valve or to the receiving pipe , or optionally completely cut off the arrival of the first fluid to said pipe and cause only the generator to be discharged, said member further allowing complete sealing of the two fluids.
It comprises, apart from this main provision, certain other provisions, which are preferably used in. at the same time and which will be discussed more explicitly below, in particular, a second provision - relating to mixing valves whose shutter and distributor member is constituted by a hollow piston movable axially and comprising two sets of lights through which are respectively distributed the two fluids in varying proportions depending on the position of said organ - oonsisting to make ooact, with said slots, preferably rectangular, one or preferably two adjustment rings comprising corresponding slots and mounted inside or outside of said piston,

The invention relates more particularly to a certain mode of application (that for which it is applied to devices of the type in question for cold water and hot water pipes), as well as certain embodiments, of said provisions; and it relates more particularly still and this by way of new industrial products, the devices of the type in question comprising application of these same provisions, the special elements specific to their establishment, as well as the installations comprising similar devices.
And it can, in any case, be clearly understood with the aid of the additional description which follows * as well as the appended drawings, which supplement and drawings are, of course, given above all by way of indication.

Fig. 13 shows, in section, a detent valve established in accordance with the invention.
Figs, 14 and 15 show, partially and e. cut, a similar valve provided with adjustment means established: in accordance with two different embodiments.
Fig. 16, finally, shows a pressure reducing valve E bli according to another embodiment of the invention.
According to the invention, and more especially according to that of its modes of application, as well as those of the embodiments of its various parts, to which it seems that preference should be given, having for example a cold and hot water installation for domestic use -, hot water being supplied, as we will first of all assume, by a generator G, of any type, possibly with storage - , and proposing to establish a clean mixing valve to allow a mixture to be delivered at varying temperatures according to the proportions of cold water and hot water admitted, the procedure is as follows or similarly.
This valve is arranged and assembled in such a way that it comprises a shutter and distributor member which, depending on its positions, can either deliver only cold water to the devices of use, with an adjustable flow, or bypass a part of the cold water to the @ generator G and, consequently (possibly by acting, by its pressure, on the appropriate distribution or starting devices of the heating source)) to make the water flow hot water to said devices, preferably after returning to the mixing valve where the mixing between chai water and cold water can be carried out in an appropriate mixing chamber, or possibly completely cut off the access of cold water to the use devices

still play the role of shutter, like an ordinary tap,
that is to say, it will completely cut off the water supply.
There are many ways to proceed in order to achieve a tap meeting the above conditions, although it seems advantageous to arrange it in such a way that the shut-off and the distribution of cold and hot water are possible. operated with the aid of a hollow piston designated by P in the drawings and of the kind included in the known mixing valves, in particular by those in accordance with French patent no.648.702, said piston being made as it can (fig, 1, 3 and 5), or only allow the departure of cold water, arriving through a nozzle 1, to the mixing chamber 2, from which the water can go to the devices for use by one or several nozzles 5, either allow, simultaneously, or exclusively,
the establishment of an initial circuit from the nozzle 1 to a nozzle 3 leading to the generator G, to return, in the form of hot water, to a nozzle 4, in communication, or capable of being placed then in communication, with said mixing chamber, (;
'is thus, as shown in FIG. 1, which can be arranged in such a way, the hollow piston P sliding in a cylinder body 6, that, when the valve is opened from its closed position, the cold water can only go towards the mixing chamber 2, for example through orifices 7, made in the bottom of said piston, then, from a certain position, said piston can come to release at least one slot 8 from the cylinder body, leading to the nozzle 3, the hot water then being able to reach the mixing chamber through the nozzle 4 which is directly connected to it,

and, finally, possibly, the communication between the cold and the mixing chamber is removed at the end of c of the piston,
the latter for example closing a passage orifice 9 between the cylinder body and said chamber,
As for the total blocking role to be done at the tap, it can be achieved by acting, for example, either on the arrival of cold water through the nozzle 1, @ shown in FIGS, 1 and 5, the piston P carrying a shutter cls 10 ooacting with a seat 11 provided at the end of said nozzle, either on the arrival of hot water, or hot water and cold water, in the mixing chamber, this arrangement being able to be used alone, or, as shown in FIG. 3, in combination with the previous one, the piston P etan provided with two valves, namely, the one 10 mentioned above and another 12 controlling the passage of the water, arriving from the inside of the piston through openings 13, towards the mixing chamber 2,
Of course,
the sealing is completed by your appropriate gaskets such as 14, 15, 16.
Instead of adopting the direction of circulation prev on fig. 1, we can adopt the reverse direction (fig. 3), in which case the cold water can go directly to the generator G through the nozzle 3, while the distribution of the hot water to the mixing chamber, from the side of the nozzle 4, is made by means of slots 17 provided by the piston lights which are released, towards the nozzle 4, only when the said piston has been subjected to a certain stroke from its position complete shutter.
If, as depicted in fig. 3 and 5, the pet key 10 ends the piston P at its base, the access of cold water through this piston, is effected by a second set of light

piston, begin to be closed appreciably from the moment when. the first lights 17, for the passage of hot water, on the contrary starting to be clear *
It is then possible to obtain, at the end of the stroke of the tap, the complete closing of the lights 18, only the hot water having at this time access to the mixing chamber.
In any case, thanks to the preceding arrangements, it is possible to use a mixing valve in combination with a water generator and, in particular, with an accumulator. In this latter application, as the tap is opened, a bypass of cold water, of increasing flow rate, to said accumulator, which cold water drives out a corresponding volume of hot water returning to the accumulator, is obtained. mixing chamber,
For complete opening, the entire cold water flow passes through this bypass, i.e. only hot water is admitted to the tap,
Of course, the movement of the piston P can be controlled by any suitable means, for example by a screw 19 (fig * 3).
Finally, it is possible to combine, with the openings 17 and 18, means for adjusting their opening, which means are advantageously constituted either by a single inner (FIG. 5) or external (FIG. 3) ring 20, or by two convicts 201 and 202 coacting respectively with the two sets of lights and adjustable separately (fig. 6).
Said ring or rings will then include corresponding lights 171 and 181, and, advantageously, these various lights will have a rectangular or more or less rectangular shape,
To carry out the adjustment, it will suffice either (fig. 5) to unscrew the said ring or rings, if they are screwed, or (fig. 3 and 6) to release a tightening nut 24;
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
But one could possibly provide means for carrying out the adjustment from the outside without the need to dismantle the valve.
These various arrangements would also be applicable, in accordance with the invention, to a mixing valve o @ donaire, that is to say for which, the nozzle 1 being removed and replaced as shown in FIG. 6 by a bottom 21 eg a device 22 for fixing the tap, the arrival of cold water and hot water would be done, as provided by the aforesaid French patent, by nozzles 3 and 4, Between 1 bottom 21 and the end of the piston P would advantageously be fitted with a spring 23
The invention further comprises the following arrangements, which can be used together or in isolation,
According to one of these arrangements, relating to valves with axially displaceable piston, preferably with hollow piston, this valve is arranged in such a way,
that the means @ for controlling said piston are entirely inaccessible to the fl ows, being in particular arranged in an annular chamber surrounding the piston and limited by at least two gaskets of impetus vhéité.
This is so, as shown in FIG. 7, that the valve 25 can be given a substantially cylindrical shape, with an internal bore in which the hollow piston P slides, between the two aforesaid seals: 26, 27, and that, in order to actuate this piston, it can be have, on a recess in its surface, a proper thread 28 to engage with the corresponding thread of a corresponding control member 29, said piston being on the other hand prevented from rotating by any appropriate means (possibly by the fact friction opposing this rotation).

act in a perfectly sealed chamber 30.
Assuming, as it seems interesting to do, that this control member is constituted by a toothed wheel engaged with a pinion or a worm 31, we will of course have the valve body bulges 32 (fig. 8). ) to restore continuity, just in case. the diameter of the wheel 29 will be greater than the outside diameter of said body.
Such a valve may be suitable for the most diverse applications, one of them consisting, as shown in FIGS. 7 to 12, to pair two similar elements on two different conduits 23, 34 hot and cold water conduits, or cold water conduit and gas conduit for hot water generator, -, and to combine the movements of the two members 29 by the same mechanical control.
For example, the endless screw 31 mentioned above could control the two wheels 29, being operable by a button 35
It will be advantageous, moreover, to provide such valves (or at least one of the two twin elements, in the application which has just been envisaged) with additional adjustment means, means arranged for example in such a way that the relative positions of the slots 36 carried by the piston can be made variable with respect to other slots 37,
For this purpose, either, the piston not being able to rotate, the slots 37 are made to be carried by a movable ring, or else, if, as shown, the slots 37 are fixed, said means are produced in such a way , that the angular position of the piston can be made variable.
To control these variations in angular position, use will be made, for example, of a lever 38 wedged on the piston and passing through the slot through which the wheel 29 passes.
In the embodiment shown, this adjustment would require the removal of the worm, which is moreover very easy to achieve; but we could use the aforesaid means
<Desc / Clms Page number 11>
adjustment in such a way that, momentarily at least, cannot act on the axial position of the piston,
Finally, stop notches or any other di @ tives may be provided to keep the lever 3 fixed in each of its adjustment positions.
According to another provision of the inventive lative generally to regulators - the application in what follows is supposed to be made to pipes. of water from buildings, not being in any way limiting -. we have these devices in such a way that they act, on an obturator barley whose position regulates the value of the downstream pressure with respect to the upstream pressure, by the intermediary of at least one lever actuated by a system deformable or movable by the action of the pressure to be adjusted, and, preferably, this lever (or lever system) is placed outside the pipe, which allows more ment to be provided with adjustment means such as '' we can act on the shutter member to be controlled,
with a variable arm.
Such a regulator-pressure reducing device therefore essentially computes (fig, 13 to 16), a progressive opening valve 39 or any other similar o not, arranged between the upstream pipe 40 and the downstream oanalisation 41, this valve being controlled by means of a rod 42 communicating in a sealed manner with the outside, at least one lever 43 such that, mounted to pivot about an axis 44, it can act on the rod 42, and actuating means of said lever according to the downstream pressure, these means 45 consisting, for example of a membrane (fig. 13) or a piston (fig. 16 acting via at least one rod 46 communicating in a sealed manner with outside, on said lever.
<Desc / Clms Page number 12>
This same lever (or system of levers) can also be used to make it possible to obtain complete closure of the valve, in which case the regulator-expansion valve simultaneously acts as a shut-off valve. For this purpose, it will suffice for example to '' use a hand control device such as an eccentric 47.
As regards, finally, the adjustment means to make it possible to modify the ratio of the lever arms of the parts acting directly above the rods 42 and 46, they can be produced in many ways, in particular by supporting the axis 44 by a movable support (fig. 13 and 14) advantageously constituted by a system of screws 48 and nut 49, with an appropriate locking member 50,
According to an alternative embodiment, illustrated in FIG. 14, the lever 43 can be replaced by two levers 431 432 articulated to one another at 55 and also mounted in an articulated manner on two supports such as 56; 57;
under these conditions, the adjustment means can be made such that they make it possible to move the articulation axis 55, which is why, for example, one of the levers 431 is made variable in length and the axis is slid 55 in an elongated eye 58, the variations in length of the lever 431 being obtainable by a screw and nut system 59, 60.
Uas graduation ;; 61 may be provided, in front of which would move an index 62 integral with the axis 55,
At the various points where the forces are transmitted between two different members, rollers such as 63 can be arranged so as to reduce friction.
In any event, it is possible, by virtue of said adjustment means, to modify the ratios of the lever arms, and, consequently, the conditions of equilibrium. It follows that, for the same value of the upstream pressure, it is possible to obtain different values for the downstream pressure. and. conversely, the downstream pressure can be kept constant despite
<Desc / Clms Page number 13>
variations in the upstream pressure, manometers possibly being combined with the devices in question.
An adjustment can be made without resorting to the springs generally provided in these types of devices.
Finally, it will be advantageous, according to another provision of the invention, to automatically actuate said adjustment means as a function of the upstream pressure.
Has effect. it will suffice for example to sup ter the axis 44 by a movable support 51 movable with a m brane or piston 52 (fig. 15 and 16) subjected to the aotion of the pressure, possibly against the aotion of springs 53, 5- these springs can also be adjustable, as shown in fig. 15, so as to allow the general setting of the assembly to be modified,
The combination of automatic adjustment and manual adjustment will be particularly convenient when use is made of a piston 52 (fig, 16), said piston being for example screwed onto the support 51, so that the relative positions of these two organs can be modified.
The regulating devices just mentioned, although they can be used in all applications, can be used advantageously in combination with mixing taps, either by mounting one of these devices on the water supply pipe. cold, in the case of mixing valves operating as shown in fig. 1 to 5, in combination with a generator or accumulator, or that two of these devices are mounted respectively on the hot and cold water supply conduits, in the case of simple mixing valves as shown in fig.
6,
In each box besides the regulating functions
<Desc / Clms Page number 14>
and shutter, said devices will play the role of check valve to prevent that if the cold water pressure is for example to be removed, the hot water remained under pressure can not, the mixer being open, spread in cold water pipes.
As goes without saying, and as it follows moreover from the foregoing, the invention is in no way limited to those of its modes of application, nor to those of the methods of carrying out its embodiments. various parts which have been more especially considered; on the contrary, it embraces all the variants.
