<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
Avec ce moule, la fabrication des agglomérés creux s'effectue de la façon suivante ;
On dispose les parois 141 142 143 144 du
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

Machine for the production of agglomerates
To manufacture agglomerates, it is advantageous to operate as follows: the materials to be agglomerated are introduced into a mold, then this mold is subjected to repeated and very rapid vertical impacts.
These shocks determine a settlement of the particles to be agglomerated and a very intimate contact of these particles with the binder. We obtain in this way, very compact and very resistant agglomerates and that, almost without humidity.
The object of the invention is to provide a particularly convenient and economical machine for manufacturing agglomerates according to the method indicated above.
This machine is characterized by the combination of a mold and a shock member driven by a

very rapid reciprocating vertical movement, this shock member striking the mold and lifting it so as to determine very rapid jolts in the materials contained in this mold, these jolts being due on the one hand to the impact of the impact member against the the mold on the rise, and on the other hand the impact of the mold on its support on the descent, which effectively compacts the mixture to be agglomerated even in the dry state.
The invention also relates to a mold for the manufacture of agglomerates, characterized in that it comprises articulated or removable walls, which makes it possible to unmold the agglomerates without turning the mold upside down.
The invention also extends to other characteristics described below and to their various combinations.

The machine shown in fig. from 1 to 4 comprises a frame 1 which has been manufactured with a hollow column 2, which receives at its upper part a plate forming a support or anvil for the mold 4.
The plate 5 is integral with a rod 5 which slides freely in the manner of a piston in a housing 6 of the column 2.
An eccentric 7, integral with a shaft 8, is arranged below the rod 5 and in the axis of this rod (fig. 2 and 3).
This eccentric 7, which has on its peri-
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
a ball bearing 71 has an eccentricity such that, for the lowest position of this eccentric, shown in broken lines in FIG. S, the rod 5 escapes said eccentric 7.
In this way, during the rotation of the eccentric 7, there is no friction between this eccentric 71 and the rod 5, this arrangement further accelerating the downward movement of this rod 5.
On the other hand, the play which is provided at a determined instant, between the eccentric 7 and the rod 5, determines an impact between this eccentric and this rod, at the time of their engagement.
The shaft 8 carried by ball bearings 91 92 which are housed in flanges 101 102, centered on the frame 1, is coupled to a motor 11 by means of an elastic sleeve 12.
This machine operates as follows
The materials to be agglomerated are placed in the mold 4 and this mold is placed on the support or
EMI4.1
P \ anvilBn starts the motor 11 which drives the eccentric 7 in a very rapid dimensioning movement.
Thanks to the clearance j which exists between the eccentric 7 in its lowest position and the rod 5, this rod receives repeated shocks from this eccentric 7 which therefore forms a shock member by acting as if it were animated by a movement. alternative vertical.
These shocks are transmitted to the mold 4 by the rod 5, so that the mold 4 is lifted alternately.
It follows that the materials contained in
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
the mold receive very rapid seoousses which are due on the one hand to the impact of the impact member 7 against the mold 4 on the rise and on the other hand to the impact of the mold 4 on its support 3 on the descent.
These materials are therefore treated according to the process described above, so that the agglomerates obtained have great strength and great compactness. In addition, thanks to the intensity of the shaking applied to the materials, the compaction can be obtained dry, whereas in the known methods the compaction is always done starting from wet materials.
It is advantageous to interpose springs 13 (fig. 2) between the frame 1 and the support 3 of the mold 4.
These elastic elements 13 constantly urge the mold 4 downwards and cooperate with the weight of this mold 4 to ensure the impact on the descent.
It is also advantageous to mount the support 3 on the rod 5 in an adjustable manner, for example by means of a screw thread 51, this makes it possible to vary the intensity of the seoousses of the mold 4 at will.
This adjustment can also be carried out as shown in FIG. 5:
The rod 5 is in two parts 5a, 5b, which engage one in the other. The external part 5a is fixed to the support 3, while the internal part 5b is screwed into said external part 5a.
'Only the internal part, which protrudes along 5c is directly subjected to the action of the cam 7 by its projection 5c.
To adjust the height of all of these two parts 5a, 5b, it suffices to screw or unscrew the internal part 5a in the external part,
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
so as to increase or decrease the protrusion 5c. This adjustment is easily done using a large screwdriver after removing the mold.
A locknut 5d ensures the immobilization of the internal part 5b relative to the external part 5a, when the adjustment is carried out. On the other hand, if the thread interposed between 5a and 5b deteriorates under the action of repeated impacts, it is possible to easily replace these two elements 5a and 5b without it being necessary to replace the support S. As a result, the repair is much less expensive.
The mold can be fixed on the machine using brackets 4c (fig. 1 and 2); but it is advantageous to use for this fixing the device shown in FIGS. 6 and 7 and which comprises bars or angles 4c surrounding the mold.
One of these bars 4o has inclined slots 4f engaged with tenons 4t screwed into the base 3. In this way, the longitudinal sliding of said bar 4c determines the tightening or loosening of the mold 4, this arrangement ensuring energetic fixing of this mold 4, as well as rapid installation and lifting of this mold 4.
The machine described above can receive molds of any type and of various sizes.
However, the best results will be obtained using the mold according to the invention and shown in FIGS. 1, 2 and 8 to 10.
This mold 4, the applications of which are moreover not limited to the machine described above, comprises walls 141 14 2 143 articulated the asses to the others by means of hinges 15 and a fourth wall 144 assembled to the walls 141 14 using
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
locks 18.
Two of the opposite walls 141 14 comprise rulers or rods 16 intended to receive the bottom 17 of the mold 4, this bottom 17 / thus mounted removably with respect to the walls 141 142 143.
The bottom 17 is pierced with holes 171 which serve to evacuate the air during the introduction of the materials to be agglomerated.
With this mold, the de @ oulage of the finished agglomerates is very easy; it suffices for this to release the bolts 18, to remove the wall 144 and to separate the walls 141 142 143 from the mold (freeze 9).
These walls 141 142 can then be removed while the bottom 17 remains in place and continues to support the finished chipboard. In this way, the agglomerates are removed from the mold without turning the mold over, which prevents any deterioration of these agglomerates. In addition, thanks to the bottom 17, demoulding can be carried out on any floor.
The mold described above can also be applied to the manufacture of hollow agglomerates.
For this, we add to this mold 4 a core 20 (fig. 11 to 13), carried by a plate 21, These two elements 20-21 can moreover be made of welded sheet.
The plate 21 is removably fixed to the lower wall 41 of the mold 4, for example using bolts 22.
To allow the passage of the core 20, the bottom 17 of the mold 4 which rests on the rods 16, has an opening 23.
With this mold, the manufacture of the hollow agglomerates is carried out as follows;
The walls 141 142 143 144 of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
mold 4 on the support 5 after fixing the plate 21 on this support 3.
The material to be agglomerated is introduced into mold 4, then the machine is started up as in
EMI8.1
the case of the Mtbrication of solid agglomerates.
After the operation, the mold 4 is removed, lifting it along fl (position shown in dotted lines in Figs. 12, 13), while the core 20 remains in place,
When the mold 4: is completely removed, it is placed on the ground, then the chipboard is demolded, as before, by removing the wall 144 and removing the walls 141 142 143.
It is also possible to release the mold using the device shown in FIGS. 14 and 15 and which essentially comprises a separate core or punch 25, the section of which is slightly smaller than that of the mold.
The mold 4 is applied by its removable bottom 17 on the punch 25 and this mold is pressed along f2 (fig. 14 and 15). The agglomerate is driven out by the pressure thus exerted.
With this device, a very rapid demolding is carried out which also causes the faces of the chipboard to be smoothed.
In addition, it is not necessary to use a mold all of the walls of which are removable. It suffices for the bottom 17 of said mold to be removable. The construction of this mold can then be simplified and given the shape shown in FIGS. 16 and 17
To obtain a hollow chipboard, it is possible (fig. 8) to fix the core 20 using screws 26 on the support S of the machine.
