<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

The special features of the invention are particularly:
1 - On the original design of the drums or driving pulleys which pull on the nets.
2 - On the overall arrangement of the winch, specially designed for this purpose
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
To show the practical embodiment of the invention, without limitation in the details of known mechanical transmissions which can be modified to the best of the desired result no more, moreover, than in the relative sizes of the various elements, the accompanying drawings show for exemple :

Fig. 8, a variant of a driving pulley seen from the front.
FIG. 9 of the accompanying drawing by way of example shows, by a section of the turret, an arrangement of the clutch and a driving pulley based on the same principle as the initial pulley but produced in another form.
Fig.10 is a view of the driving pulley projected on a plane at 90 relative to fig.1.
The device comprises: 1 - A fixed pivot permanently mounted on any point of the fishing boat and in particular near the edge towards the rear.
2 - A turret having the possibility of turning at a certain angle on the fixed pivot and surmounted by a bracket provided at the end of the driving pulley intended to pull the nets.
3 - An additional device, fixed on the mobile turret, allowing indifferently to help hauling the net or to serve
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
simply as a guide, this device can be removed at will.
The fixed pivot comprises a cylindrical shaft 1, fixed by any known means to the boat, provided at the lower part with a housing 2, in which is located a helical wheel 5, which receives a rotational movement through the intermediary. a tangent screw 4 whose shaft 5 is connected to the engine of the boat by an appropriate transmission according to the position of the latter with the interposition of a clutch if necessary. It is obvious that the movement of the worm can also be achieved by an independent motor.
The helical wheel 3 is keyed, or fixed by any other means, on a shaft 6 concentric with the barrel 1 $ provided at the end of a toothed sleeve 7, the counterpart of which formed by another toothed sleeve 8 can slide in the barrel 1 so as to engage or disengage at will by means of a = push rod 9 which passes through the shaft 6 and comes to rest under the sleeve 8, constantly maintained in the position of clutch by a compression spring 10. The push rod 9 is operated at will by a pedal 11 located near the pivot so that the person hauling the net can stop the winch at will by simply pressing the foot on this pedal, which leaves him in his hands. free to do the necessary operation.
The sleeve 8 is followed by two mortises 12 (fig. 5) in which the rollers 13 are engaged, mounted on a pin 14 which passes through a shaft 15, the head 16 of which turns freely from the barrel 1, and carries a clutch to key 17, which allows instantaneous connection with the mobile turret.
The barrel 1 carries on the outside a circular conical casing 18, in which the mobile turret rotates; this casing is provided with a fitting of the bayonet type 19 (Fig.l-2) intended to prevent the turret from disengaging from above
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
the fixed pivot; while leaving this turret the possibility of turning to the right or to the left of a cartain angle.
The mobile turret fig. 1-2-5-6 is composed of a cylindrical barrel 20 which fits over the barrel 1 of the pivot, while a ring 21 attached to the end fits very exactly in part 18 of the pivot. A lug 22 passes, on the other hand, in the bayonet fitting 19 of the fixed pivot.
The cylindrical shaft 20 is surmounted by a head 25 which carries an axial shaft 24 provided with the lower part of a transverse key 25 which engages in the housing 17 provided at the end of the shaft 15 of the pivot when the two parts, pivot and turret, are in the position of use. Axial shaft 24 is provided with an angle pinion 26 which controls another angle pinion 27 mounted on a transverse shaft 28 (Fig. 6) which carries at the end a toothed chain wheel 29. The transverse shaft 28 is housed in a horizontal bush 30 which carries at the end an inclined arm 31 (Fig.5) hollow internally so as to form a casing for the chain 52 which transmits the rotational movement of the shaft 28, through the chain wheel 29,
to another toothed wheel 33 mounted on a journal 34 which rotates freely in bearings 35 (Fig.6) located at the end of the inclined arm 31.
The journal 34 is drilled along its axis with a square or polygonal hole 35 intended to receive the shaft of the driving pulley and to ensure the drive thereof.
On the journal 34 is also fixed a grooved pulley 37 which, by means of a belt 38 (Fig.l) transmits the rotational movement by a pulley 39 to an auxiliary shaft 40 located behind the turret with respect to to the arm 31, on which the shaft can be mounted a second drive pulley 41 (fig.l) or a gmid pulley as required. By the crossed arrangement or not of the belt 38 it is possible to rotate the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
auxiliary pulley 41 in the desired direction according to the use. It is obvious that the control can also be done by any other known mechanical means.
A second inclined arm 42 parallel to the arm 31 and arranged on the opposite side of the turret head, serves as a support for a second bearing 43 placed in the axis of the journal 34, this bearing having the particularity of having the cap 44 which can be opened by means of a hinge 45 and a clamping screw 46. A veil 47 provided at the end of the movable half-pad 44 (Fig. 6) forms a stop which prevents the drive pulley shaft to come out of its housing, i.e. from the drive square 36.
This arrangement has the effect of allowing the immediate change of the driving pulley, the profiles of which may vary in size depending on the nets to be pulled, or even to replace a simple drum to transform the net winch into an ordinary winch.
The driving pulley (Fig. 7) which constitutes one of the essential points of the invention, is formed of two frustoconical flanges 48 opposed by the small base each provided with bosses 49 arranged regularly on the lateral surface, but offset with respect to the two flanges. so that the bosses of one are facing the hollow formed by the two neighboring bosses of the other. On the other hand, the curvature of the bosses relative to a section made by a plane passing through the axis is such that the bottom of smaller diameter 50 forms a trapezoidal groove which by the staggered position of these bosses takes the form of a sinusoid. It is by determining this absolutely special shape that it is possible to exert a traction on the net, which allows,
without making a dead turn on the pulley, to pull the net out of the water.
The position at the end of a movable arm of the driving pulley constitutes an essential part of the invention.
The auxiliary pulley and the bosses can be omitted} the driving pulley will then form a trapezoidal opening
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
composed of two superimposed trapezoids as shown in the diagram in fig. 8.
In the variants represented by FIGS. 9 and 10 the pinion 51 transmits the movement of the motor to the horizontal pinion 52 keyed to a shaft 53 on the end of which rotates a chain pinion 54 which controls the shaft of the driving pulley.
The shaft 53 is perforated along its axis and receives inside a sliding thimble 55, crossed by an axis 56 which carries at each end rollers 57 large enough to slide in mortises 58 provided in the shaft 55 and in notches 59 formed on the hub of the pinion 54. The sliding die 55 is constantly pushed to the left of the drawing by a compression spring 60 so that the shaft 55 and the pinion 54 are constantly secured by means of the rollers 57 ui form keys.
An axial shaft 61 with rapid screw 62 controlled by a lever
63, allows the die 55 to be pushed to the right, which performs the scoring of the pinion 54 at will.
The drive pulley is based on the same sinusoidal groove principle described in accordance with FIG. 7, but in this variant it is only produced by sections passing through the axis of symmetry of the bosses, the other parts remaining empty.
The practical realization is made by means of two side rings 64 between which are located, in diametric planes, log profiles such as 65 and 66 having the same curvature movement but interposed so that their asymmetric shape arranged alternately and symmetrically by compared to the xy plane, form the desired sinusoidal groove, but perforated instead of being full. The lower points of the groove fractions thus produced are fixed on reduced flanges 67 which form a hub for mounting the pulley on the shaft 68.
This variant can also be used without reducing the importance of the previous device.
