<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The present invention relates to the connection of rigid or flexible pipes to the vacuum cleaner.
It is previously known, in order to produce free mobility of the rigid or flexible tubes, to provide them with a suitable device which allows rotation in all directions. It has also been proposed to use a connecting piece which is interposed between the vacuum cleaner and the tube and allows rotation in all directions.
The present invention provides the possibility of obtaining the free rotation without connecting parts and without special aonstitution of the rigid or flexible tubes. For this purpose, it is proposed, according to the present invention, to incorporate in the cap or the cover of the dust extractor a rotating device so that as soon as the rigid or flexible tube is connected to the cap, it can rotate. in all directions. For this purpose, the tubing which serves to receive the end of the tube can be placed inside the cap so as to be able to rotate freely, the necessary sealing being provided by felt or other means. The rotating tubing can still be

supported once more inside the hat.
The present invention further consists in the provision of various new arrangements in the tubing, for example of a screen which serves both for the damping of noise and for receiving cotton balls or other materials. supports for disinfecting or odorizing agents.
The mentioned screen is advantageously provided at the end of the tubing which faces the dust bag and can, for example, have the shape of a pot.
Various other details result from the drawing.
Fig. 1 shows a side view, partly in section, of a dust extractor cap.
Fig. 2 is a view from below of the hat.
Figs. 3 and 4 show details.
The cap 1, which is intended for example for a horizontal dust extractor, internally carries a pipe 2 which is arranged so as to rotate freely.
For this purpose, the tubing 3. may be provided with a rim and engage with the folded rim of the cap, a felt or other sealing device preventing the escape of air.
However, the possibility of rotation can also be obtained by any other means. The rotating tube 2 has, inside the hollow body of the cap, a bearing which is formed by an annular disc 3 in the central opening of which is inserted a ring of felt !. or a similar organ. This method of support increases the strength of the rotating tubing and prevents the latter from breaking during the introduction of a flexible pipe or rigid pipe tubing.
As already mentioned, the arrangement of rotation inside the cap can be established in another way. In addition, a rigid connection, known in itself, between the flexible pipe can be provided. and the tubing

rotating, preventing the flexible hose from coming loose during operation. For this purpose, it will be necessary to stop the rotating tubing by an immobilizer. For this purpose, a sliding pin 5 is provided which engages in a corresponding hole in the rotating tube and prevents the rotation thereof.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 3 of the invention, the rotating tubing is provided with a sieve 6 which is intended to dampen noise and can also receive cotton balls impregnated with disinfecting or odorizing agents.
Such a sieve device is also advantageous for the dust extractors of composing machines, since it prevents the sucked characters from reaching the dust chamber. For this application, the rotary tubing can, moreover, have internal parts 7 and 8 according to FIG. 4 against which the characters abut and are thus free of dust and dirt adhering to them.
