    @

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 de   la   fig. 1.

A titre d'exemple non limitatif, on a représenté fig.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

    @
In the appended drawing, given by way of example:
Fig. 1 is an overview, and
Figs. 2 to 5 are detailed views of the devices making it possible to carry out the new amplification process,
In the assembly of fig. 1, the electrical element, such as a current or a voltage, which it is proposed to amplify, is applied between 1 and 2, and the assembly conforms to FIG. 1, in which the current or the voltage to be amplified is applied between 1 and 2 and the amplified current comes out between 3 and 4.

   In this fig. 5 represents the DC or wide bandwidth amplifier, 6 represents the modulator, 7 the auxiliary alternating current generator, 8 the first modulated current amplifier, 9 the threshold device, 10 the second modulated current amplifier , 11 the rectifier and 12, the DC amplifier.

   If the amplification is overabundant, one or more of the amplifiers can be removed.

   The modulator (6 of fig. 1) is an electric modulator, in which the amplitude of an auxiliary alternating current, of any frequency, but large compared to the highest frequency among those which compose the current at amplify, is controlled by the already amplified weak current coming out of 5.

  By way of non-limiting example, 3 modulation arrangements are indicated below. The first, shown in fig. 2, comprises two lamps with multiple electrodes with indirect heating, the lamp 1 is driven by the auxiliary current applied between 3 and 4, it behaves like a resistance varying with the frequency of this current; this resistor, placed in parallel with the gate resistor of the lamp 2, moves the operating point of the latter lamp, which receives the weak current already amplified between 5 and 6, which produces the desired modulation. The anode 7 is connected to the amplifier 8

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 of fig. 1.

   The second assembly, shown in figo 3 comprises two lamps 1 and 2, the first driven by the auxiliary alternating current between 3 and 5, the second by the weak current already amplified between 4 and 5. The anodes are mounted in parallel and supplied. in high voltage via a strong resistance or a self-induction. The anode voltage of each lamp therefore depends on the voltage applied to the gate of the other, which produces the desired modulation. The anodes are connected via the capacitor 6 to the amplifier 8 of FIG. 1.

   The third assembly shown in fig 4, comprises a single lamp 1, driven on the grid between 2 and 3 by the weak current already amplified, and supplied with anode voltage by the auxiliary alternating current applied between 8 and 9, by means of the transformers 10. A potentiometer 5, powered by a battery 6, is used to adjust the gate voltage. The intensity of the anode current obviously varies with the applied voltage between 2 and 3, which produces the desired modulation. The anode is connected via the capacitor 7 to the amplifier 8 in FIG. 1.

   The amplifier 8 of FIG. 1 amplifies the modulated current.

  If the rectification immediately followed this amplifier, we would have, the modulation not being total, an output current even in the absence of low current to be amplified. This drawback is avoided by placing a threshold device (9 in fig. 1) behind the amplifier 8 for modulated current. This apparatus may be constituted by a multiple electrode lamp which is preferably fast starting, that is to say such that the current passing through it rapidly changes from zero to a finite value for a small variation in applied voltage. By way of nonlimiting example, FIG. 5 a device comprising an indirectly heated diode capable of fulfilling this

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 role. The modulated current coming out of the previous amplifier is applied between 2 and 3.

   These points are connected to the primary of a transformer, the secondary of which has 3 outputs. Output 4 is connected to the anode of the diode. The intermediate output is connected to ground. The cathode of the diode is connected through the intermediary of the primary of an output transformer 6 to a potentiometer 9, which makes it possible to adjust the direct voltage applied between the ground and this cathode. It is thus possible, by using the properties of the diode, to allow only the applied voltage peaks greater than a determined value, which is the “threshold” referred to above, to pass.

   It is also advantageous to add a neutrodyne capacitor between this cathode and the third output 5 of transformer 4; the internal capacitance of the diode is thus compensated.

   The resulting current is then amplified, rectified, filtered and amplified, if necessary, by a DC amplifier,
The device is applicable to all cutting edges and all tensions, in particular without limitation to currents produced by living organisms, such as currents produced in nerves, muscles or by the pulsations of the heart. The high amplification it achieves makes it easy to record directly the phenomena studied without having to resort to photographic processes.

   It is clear that multiple changes of detail could be made to the embodiments indicated without departing from the scope of the present patent.
