 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

  PATENT OF INTENT - automatic or hand-held device for stereoscopic vision, with monetary release
The present invention relates to an automatic or hand-held device for stereoscopic vision, with monetary release, oaraoterized by the arrangement of the stereosoopic plates seen in transparency on a rotating drum in combination with a control device acting both on the release of the drum and switch on an electric lighting device
The accompanying drawings show schematically by way of non-limiting example, one embodiment of the invention.

   We see in Figure I the overall view of a supposedly open device.

   Figure 8 shows schematically the control device operating after release by the weight of a coin.

   Figure 3 shows, in perspective, an embodiment of the release devices from the motor of the apparatus, and Figure 4 shows a diagram of the electrical connections.

   So far, various devices have been produced allowing the successive parade of stereoscopic views in front of a double eyepiece,

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 these devices were generally chain or plate lifting and they operated either under the action of the hand or under the action of an electric motor, and therefore their use was not possible in all places, in particular, in places where there is no electricity distribution.

   The present invention relates to an apparatus operating in a very satisfactory manner, with very low lighting, and driven by a motor from which a very small quantity of energy is borrowed, this motor transforming, by simple means, its rotational movement. continuous, in a discontinuous rotational movement of the drum which carries the stereoscopic plates.

   As shown in the accompanying drawings, on a frame 1, there is mounted a double eyepiece in a box 2, and this double eyepiece S can be moved, as is known., By the button of a rack 4, so as to allow the variation of its distance to the plate 5 and, consequently, the focusing.

   The plates 5 are carried by a drum 6, of axis 7, and they are preferably arranged on this drum in slides 8 with a stop member 9 which can be a lifting spring or even a simple nail, so as to allow the plates to be changed without having to remove the drum
Behind the plate 5, which is stopped in front of the double eyepiece, is disposed a light box 10 fixed by a support II, and the assembly is driven by a motor 12 constituted as a phonograph motor or. by a clockwork movement wound by a crank 13.

   the speed of this clockwork can be adjustable, as is known, by a centrifugal governor, and the output shaft 14 carries an indeterminate number of pins such as 15 which form gears with pins 16 fixed on the drum rotating, in equal quantity or. multiple of the plates.

   In this way, when, as shown in figure I, the pin 17 of the motor will come, turning in the direction of the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   arrow, lean on the spindle 18 of the drum, it will drive the latter until it comes to the position of. next spindle having brought a new plate in front of the double eyepiece.

   At this moment, the pin 17 will escape and continue its turn, leaving the plate to park in front of the double eyepiece Until the moment when the pin 15 will act on a new spindle of the drum
An interrupted rotational movement of the drum will thus be achieved for a continuous rotational movement of the motor.

   One embodiment of the. control and start-up system, is shown in Figures 3 and 3.

   When the shaft 14 of the motor, which comes out on the other side of it. , as shown in Figure 2, will have made the drum perform a complete revolution, this drum will come, by means of a finger 19 suitably placed, act by pushing an oame 20, which can rotate on a vertical axis 21 and, by pushing this cam, it will rotate around its axis by bringing a part 22 into the field of displacement of a spindle 23 fixed on the shaft 14 of the motor. The broohe will come to rest on this part and the engine will be stalled
The movements of the cam 20 and of the part 22 can be limited by fixed stops such as 23 and 24.

   This part also carries a pin 25 which makes it possible to bring it back to the operating position, that is to say which allows the pin 3 to be released from the motor shaft under the action of a lever 26 which turns the part d. 'stop' in the opposite direction around its axis 21.

   *
The release system is shown in Figure 3 and, as seen in this figure, the drum! preferably on the other side than that which has been shown in FIG. I, carries a number of pins 86 equal to the number of plates, and these pins are all of the same length except one, pin 27, which is slightly longer and the extended part of which is in the field of oscillation of a lever 28 arbi-

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

   hearing around a fixed point 29 carried by the frame,
On two of these pins comes to rest, by means of a spring 30, a plate 31 which fixes exactly the position of a stereoscopic plate in faoe of the double eyepiece,

Figure 2 shows the members & the stop position of the device when, through a corridor, not shown, a coin is introduced into the device, the latter falls into a notch made at 32 in the lever 28, this cutout being limited on the one hand by a fixed ramp 33 and, on the other hand by a ramp 34, forming part of a part articulated around an axis 35 and which is returned by its weight to the position holding the part
As the balance of the lever 28 is ensured by counterweight 36, the weight of the part creates an imbalance and causes the lever 28 to fall on a spring 37 which keeps it in position,

   but this displacement had. the effect of releasing a finger 38 carried by a zipper 39, so that one can then act on this zipper which is biased by a spring 40, and, by acting on this zipper, the lever 26 is driven which is articulated au.tour of a point 41 carried by the frame, and this lever 26, by pushing on the spindle 25, turns the part 20 around the vertical axis 21, and releases the spindle 23 from the shaft of the motor allowing the latter to rotate and drive the plate for a full revolution until the finger 19 acts again on the cam 80.

   At the end of this turn, the extended spindle 27 will push a swollen part forming a cam 42 of the lever 28 and, by acting on this cam, it will tilt the part 28 further, so as to bring the oscillating part 34 into contact with it. an adjustable stop in position 43, which produces an oscillation around the axis 35, moves the fixed ramp away from the mobile ramp, and allows the part to fall into a reserve. the part having fallen, the oscillating lever 28, under the action

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 of. counterweight 36, returns to its rest position, preventing any movement of the plate by placing a part forming a hook 44 opposite the extended spindle 27
To release the tray, it will be necessary to insert a new coin and tilt the coin 28.

   This allows the operation of the apparatus by hand using a button which extends the axis of the drum, this button being shown at 45 in Figure 3.

   In this particular case, a rpohet wheel 48 may be arranged, wedged on the shaft of the drum in such a way that an oliquet 49 prevents any backward movement of the drum carrying the stereoscopic views.

   It will thus be possible to pass the views only once in front of the double eyepiece since, after one turn, the hook 44 will stop the spindle 27 when the coin has been discharged into the reserve.

   The spring 37 can be used, as shown in FIG. 4, to effect the closing of the current on an electric bulb 45 placed in the light box 10.
For this purpose, the oscillating part 28 will be connected with the mass of the device to one of the two poles of an electric current source 46 while the blade cavity of this source will be connected to the lamp, the current being closed by contact of. spring 37 and the oscillating part 28.

   The light bulb will preferably be placed in a box 10, which is closed by a frosted glass 47 which is placed in parallel and at a short distance from the stereoscopic plate, the lighting of this frosted glass plate being, of preferably achieved by a single bulb thanks to the reflection of the light on the walls of the box.

   A simple flashlight battery, an accumulator, or even a voltage-reducing transformer can be used as a source of electric current.

   This results in an excessively constructed apparatus.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

 simple, absolutely safe operation, requiring no other expense than the rather rare replacement of the battery or recharging the accumulator, and this device can be arranged in such a way that it can use any desired coin, by simply adjusting the spacing of the ramps which support the part and of the balancing counterweight.

   An attractive device is thus produced, which can be placed in any place without the need for an electrical distribution to exist there and, in particular, devices of this type can be placed temporarily at places of excursion. , at parties, or during congresses.

   It goes without saying that the shapes of the devices, their details of execution, the raw materials which constitute them and the various embodiments, can vary without departing from the scope of the present invention and that any known motor device can be used. , the modes of stopping or controlling these motors may vary slightly depending on the construction devices thereof.

   CLAIMS 10- Automatic device or. hand, stereoscopic vision, monetary release, characterized by the arrangement of an indeterminate number of stereoscopic plates on a rotating drum, this drum being endowed with a discontinuous rotational movement, by drive. by means of a motor and, preferably, of a clockwork motor such as a phonograph motor, this motor acting by one or more pins carried on its shaft on pins arranged on the drum, so as to advance the latter as many notches as the shaft carries pins at each revolution of the shaft.

   motor, a stopper preferably constituted by a spring plate will be supported on two pins of the drum, allowing the fixing of each plate in front of the eyepiece.
