Description

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

  "TOY, USEFUL FOR THE EXERCISE OF THE MUSCLES"
The invention relates to a toy which, at the same time, is useful for exercising the muscles, more especially to a device in the form of a racket like the one used for the game of "ping-pong". or table tennis.

   According to the invention, the two faces of the racket are provided with a complete or partial guide, preferably in the form of a spiral which leads from the center to the edge of the racket, preferably to a hole in said racket. near the outer edge, such that a ball

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 or a ball placed in this guide in the center of the racket following the course of this guide will be led towards the aforesaid hole.

   An embodiment of the present invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, of which Figure 1 is a plan; Fig. 2 is a side view; Fig. 3 is an illustration of the racket seen from below.

   The racket is composed of a paddle 1 and a handle 2. In the illustrated embodiment, the guide 3 consists of a metal wire bent in a spiral. The opposite side of the racket is fitted with a similar 3 'metal wire. The guides 3 can also be executed as bands of tin or other metal curved in a spiral, or they can consist of a spiral groove made in the surface of the racquet, or of a spiral rib applied to the racket. the surface of the racket.

   It is not essential, however, that the guide be constructed in a spiral, nor that this guide be uninterrupted from the center of the face up to hole 4.

   Parts of the guidance can be omitted at one or the other of the two ends,, or both, or / and one can introduce variations and provide guidance which is interrupted at different points between the two ends .

   It is also possible that the pallet 1 is provided with only one raised edge. A ball or ball is then introduced into the guide 3, the player holding the racket by the handle 2, keeping it in a position

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 horizontal and the difficulty, which at the same time is the main attraction of the game, is to roll the ball until it enters the hole, then flip the racket with a quick movement of the wrist and catch the ball on the other side of the paddle, before it has had time to fall to the ground, and then roll it along the guide 3 'of the hole 4 towards the center of the racket, to guide it from again in hole 4, and so on.

  This game is not only a very enjoyable pastime, but it also provides an excellent means for exercising the muscles and joints of the wrist and forearm.

   For beginners the game is quite difficult and most of the time the ball falling through hole 4 will have reached the ground, before the player has managed to catch it on the other side of his racquet. To overcome this difficulty a little, a removable tongue extending horizontally at some distance below (respectively above) the hole has been provided on both sides of the racquet. This small tab retains the ball in its fall, so that it can fall back on the racket that the player has had time to return in the meantime.

   When the player has acquired enough practice, the tabs (5) can be removed.
