Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 ledit recopient.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 7>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 8>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 9>

   <Desc / Clms Page number 1>

  Diaphragm metering dispenser for pitiful or liquid matter.

   There are already dispensing devices for liquids or pasty products comprising a receptacle provided with a central plunger tube with inlet valve, resulting in a capacity fixed to the upper part of the receptacle and containing a membrane whose displacement is controlled by a pushbutton. A duct with a discharge valve leads to said capacity

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 and outlet to the outside, to distribute the liquid or the pasty material.

   However, the applicant has found that if these devices are satisfactory in the case where the receptacle contains liquid, it is not the same if it contains crene or a pasty material.

   The object of the present invention is to improve this type of dispenser with a view to ensuring perfect operation when they have to deliver cream or pasty material and to allow, moreover, the evacuation of a well determined quantity of said material. material, the distributor thus constituting a material metering device.

   According to the invention, the valve or ball of the dip tube is eliminated and replaced by a rod forming a piston provided in the axis of the membrane, which rod engages in the upper end of the dip tube over a height of a few millimeters. .

   Under these conditions, the movement of this piston causes in the dip tube a very energetic suction during the period of lifting of the membrane and, during the delivery, a rigorously metered quantity will be expelled from the apparatus. This avoids the drawbacks of a ball or valve, the mobility of which in a pasty material is most precarious.

   In addition, the membrane may include, on the one hand, a flexible upper extension on which the push button is fixed, which eliminates the return spring and, on the other hand, a lower extension serving as a shutter piston. The membrane and its two extensions can be formed by a single piece of molded rubber.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   In addition, a gently rubbing washer can slide on the dip tube in order to descend, following the level of the material contained in the body of the apparatus, either by suction or by its own weight.

   The lower end of the dip tube is advantageously provided with a mushroom or screen preventing the formation of an air pocket or chimney near the tube and increasing the region where the aspiration or suction occurs.

   The free end of the lower extension of the membrane may be conical or tapered or else cylindrical and of the same size as the dip tube but then provided with grooves for the passage of the material sucked up.

   The membrane can form the movable bottom of a bowl formed in a part resting directly on the container containing the material, this bowl comprising an axial lower tubing which fits or is fixed to the upper end or dip tube.

   The container can be closed by pushing in a stopper through which the dip tube passes.

   The capacity can communicate with the outside via a nipple or a rubber valve, for example engaged in a pouring spout, and the base of which is held against the bowl by screwing this spout.

   The attached schematic drawings represent, by way of illustrative but non-limiting examples, two embodiments of this @pparell metering dispenser as well as some details or construction variants.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

   Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view of a first embodiment of the apparatus.

   FIG. 2 is a detailed view of this apparatus, showing the position of the button and of the membrane after expulsion of a certain amount of pasty material.

   FIG. 3 is a detailed view of a variant of the push button assembly.

   Figure - is a vertical sectional view of a second embodiment of the apparatus.

   FIG. 5 is a detailed view of the membrane provided with two extensions.

   Figure 6 is a view of a construction detail of this apparatus.

   According to the first embodiment which is shown in Figures 1 to 3, the metering dispenser consists of a container a containing the pasty or liquid material b. In the axis of this container is arranged the dip tube c provided at its lower part with a screen or fungus d intended to prevent the formation of an air pocket or chimney near this tube and to increase the region where produces aspiration or suction of matter b. The upper end cl of the tube attaches to the base of a capacity formed by a small box e provided with a cover f. Between the upper edge of this box e and the cover f is pinched the edge of the membrane or slightly concave rubber plate g.

   The cover f has an extension f1 in which the head h of the button i slides, subjected to the action of the return spring j. A hood! is screwed onto the neck a1 and closes, in a way that is not waterproof,

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 said recopy. This allows air to reenter the container as the level of the pasty material b drops.

   A washer! with gentle friction can slide on the dip tube. ±. to descend by following the level of the material b contained in the container either by suction or by its own weight.

   The chamber or capacity e is a communication with the material outlet pipe 1 by means of a discharge valve or ball m.

   A rod o forming a piston is provided in the axis of the capacity e. This piston is made integral with the membrane and, for example, screwed to the threaded end h1 of the rod h which passes through said membrane or else is formed by a cylindrical block of rubber or other material integral with the membrane g.

   The operation of this dispensing and dosing device takes place as follows
The container a and the capacity are filled with material, push button i is pressed. From the moment the piston o closes the end cl of the plunger tube, the liquid is pumped back through the tube 1 and expelled to the outside. When the button has been fully lowered (position shown in fig. 2), the spring j returns it to its initial position.

  The displacement of the piston o in the tube. ±. then produces a strong suction which causes the rise of a determined quantity of pasty material in the tube or chamber e, an amount which can be expelled by pressing button i again.

   The apparatus which has just been described can be either

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

 portable and for example placed on a table, or wall mounted and hung on a vertical wall. In this case, the container a can be held in place by a screw collar p which is engaged in slots of a support! attached to the wall wall.

   As shown in figure 3, the membrane g can be extended outwards by a small cylindrical block of rubber g1 on which the button i is directly fixed or screwed, which eliminates the spring
The whole of the dip tube c, the membrane capacity p, the push button 1 and the tubulurs 1 could be arranged at any point of the receptacle a, for example on the side and at the lower part of said container.

   According to the second embodiment which is shown in Figures 4 to 6, the membrane g, the extension g1 (onto which the push button i is screwed) and the shutter piston o are formed by a single piece of molded rubber. In addition, the end o1 of the shutter piston is tapered or recessed, and engages in the end ci of the plunger tube c when the device is at rest, which ensures the guidance of the piston o in the tube at moment when pushbutton i is pressed, even if the pressure exerted on button i is oblique.

   This membrane can be advantageously mounted in a dispenser produced as shown in FIG. 4 and which is more particularly intended for mustard, beard cream or other similar material.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 7>

   The container a which contains the material, and which may be of any shape, is closed by a cork, wood, etc. ... stopper k1, simply inserted into the neck a1 of the container and flush with the edge a2 of this container.

  This stopper is crossed by the plunger tube c which is fixed, by conical fitting, gluing or threading, to a part e1 coming to rest by its base or lower part on the edge of the container and which can optionally be fixed (for example glued) on the upper face of the cap -. This part e1 is hollowed out so as to form a bowl and carries, along its axis, a pipe e2 which serves to connect the plunger tube c.

   In the axis of the chamber eo formed by the part or bowl el is provided the shutter piston .2. made of rubber which comes in one piece with the membrane g and the extension g1 on which the push button i is screwed. The membrane is held in place by screwing, on the neck e3 of the cuvette e1, a cap or cover f. The conical or tapered end.2.1 of the piston o engages in the tubing e 2 assembled with the dip tube c and provides guidance, when the membrane is lowered, by acting on the push button i.

   The free end of the piston o can also be cylindrical like the plunger tube c but then provided with grooves for the passage of the spiral material from bottom to top.

   At one point around the perimeter of the bowl e1 is drilled a tapped hole in which is screwed the end of the spout 1 previously lined with a rubber teat m1 (as shown in figure 6) the base m of the teat étsnt held tight against the bowl el

 <Desc / Clms Page number 8>

 by simply screwing on the spout 1. The end of the spout 1 can be closed with a small plug s.

   The outside air can have access into the container a above the pasty material b, for example by
 EMI8.1
 àes # i.inures e and le provided in rooms e -1.

   The operation of this dispensing and dosing device takes place as follows: -
The pasty material such as mustard or cream for the beard fills part of the container 5L as well as the tube c and the chamber eo of the bowl-shaped part el. Under these conditions, when the push button i is pressed , it causes the expulsion of a certain quantity of material which passes through the nipple m1 and the spout 1, the piston o having come from the start of its stroke to close the plunger tube c.

  As soon as you stop pressing the push-button 1, the memory g returns to its initial position indicated in FIG. 6, by elasticity and a new quantity of material passes, by suction, from the container a into the chamber.

   The distributor which has just been described with reference to FIGS. 6 has the very great advantage of not having any metal valve and no spring.

  In addition, the various parts which constitute it can all be made of wood, or of a non-metallic material, with the exception of the membrane and the teat which are made of rubber, the container a being, for example, of stoneware or other material. similar.

   Another advantage of the embodiment described with reference to FIGS. 4 to 6 consists in that the part forming a distributor, that is to say the bowl with its

 <Desc / Clms Page number 9>

 membrane, its push button, its shutter piston and its dip tube can be adapted by means of a simple plug, to a container of any shape and in particular to already existing containers.

   It goes without saying that modifications of detail can be made to the device which has just been described, without departing from the scope of the invention.
