PERFECTIONNEMENTS AUX ECHANGEURS DE CHALEUR.
@
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
Fig.l montre une coupe transversale dans une ailette de profil allongé usuel;
Fig.2 montre un groupement de deux ailettes conformes à la fig.l;
Fig.3 est une coupe transversale dans une ailette ou pointe de section généralement circulaire;
Fig.4 est une coupe transversale dans une ailette ayant une conformation de principe conforme à l'invention;
Fig.S montre un groupement d'ailettes suivant l'invention;
Fige. 6 et 7 montrent des variantes;
Fig. 9 montre, de même, une variante.
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

IMPROVEMENTS TO HEAT EXCHANGERS.
@
The invention relates to heat exchanges between fluids and relates in particular to the exchange devices used for this purpose, and comprising tubes or elements, on one side of which at least circulates a fluid whose calories (or frigories are sought to be exhausted). ) for the benefit of any other fluid or body.
It is customary to place on the tubes or elements exchanger devices, fins, tips, etc., acting as antennas, to capture and bring to the tubes or elements the heat (or cold) of the moving fluid, or conversely to borrow from the tubes or elements and disperse the heat (or cold) of the tubes or elements in the moving fluid.
In most of the known arrangements, attempts have been made essentially, or even solely, to increase the value of the exchange, to increase the number of fins, tips, etc., arranged on a given surface of the tubes or elements. However, this approach is limited, on the one hand because of the difficulties in establishing, and in particular molding, the ai-
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
lettes, points, etc., which quickly become insurmountable, and on the other hand due to the slowing down and disturbances caused in the flow of the exchange fluid due to the multiplicity of obstacles placed in its path and the eddies caused by these obstacles in their current conformations.
The object of the invention is above all to remedy these drawbacks.
It consists for this purpose in seeking, by an appropriate conformation of the fins, tips, and more generally of the antennas, associated with the tubes or elements of the exchange devices, a higher exchange rate, or even maximum, between the fluid and the fins, individual tips, etc., or at least the majority of such fins, tips, etc.
The chosen conformation will be such that it significantly increases, among other things, the part of the surface of the fins, tips, etc., which faces the flow of fluid, and which plays a major role in the heat exchange.
It also consists in seeking, by a conformation of the fins, tips, etc., satisfying the previous condition, at the same time, a lesser, or even minimum, impediment to the flow of the exchanger fluid with respect to the individual fins, tips, etc. , or at least the majority of these fins, tips, etc.
It also consists, in the groupings of fins, tips, etc., in finding by a conformation of the individual fins, tips, etc., or some of them, and by an arrangement of these fins, an exchange rate higher, or even maximum, of the whole.
And so that one can clearly understand how the above characteristics can be practically achieved, certain preferred arrangements in accordance with the invention will be described in more detail below, shown, by way of example, and more or less schematically. , in the accompanying drawings, in which:
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Fig.l shows a cross section through a fin of conventional elongated profile;
Fig.2 shows a group of two fins according to fig.l;
Fig.3 is a cross section through a fin or tip of generally circular section;
Fig.4 is a cross section through a fin having a basic conformation according to the invention;
Fig.S shows an array of fins according to the invention;
Freezes. 6 and 7 show variants;
Fig. 8 shows in plan, from above, a group of exchanger tubes equipped with fins according to the invention
Fig. 9 also shows a variant.
Referring firstly to Figures 1 and 2, the fins 1 shown are of usual conformation with an elongated section in the direction of flow F of the exchanger fluid, the large faces 2 of these fins being substantially parallel to this direction F .
Under these conditions, the fluid reaches fin 1 through its edge A B 0 where the exchange action is undoubtedly significant, but since the extent A B 0 is relatively very small, the resulting exchange is low in absolute value. On the other hand, on the lateral faces 2, there occurs a detachment of the fluid threads over a more or less conductive extent from points A and 0 and a similar detachment of the fluid threads occurs at the posterior end of the fin, as shown schematically.
Overall, the exchange is ultimately reduced.
If we group more fins such as 1, as illustrated for two fins in figure 2, the preceding phenomena are repeated for each of the fins, and there is also eddies of the exchanger fluid at the inlet and at the output of channel 3, due to sudden variations in the section
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
flow.
If, as in fig. 3, the antenna immersed in the exchanger fluid is formed by a tip of circular section 4, the contact is reduced in principle to the front portion ABC, the fluid threads being detached from the surface of the tip throughout the posterior portion of the latter, so that on the whole the exchange is also reduced.
In FIG. 4, on the contrary, we notice that the fluid threads apply over almost the entire profile of the fin 1, the front portion of which has been largely developed against the direction of flow F. and the posterior portion of which has been shaped as a spindle.
As a result, the marked exchange action which occurs in the anterior portion will affect a much larger extent, and moreover, as no detachment occurs in the lateral and posterior portions, these portions will participate in their entirety in the exchange with the fluid, the resulting exchange being considerably increased.
In addition, in a group of fins of this kind, for example, that of FIG. 5, as the variation of the passage sections offered to the exchanger fluid is very gradual, fluid eddies are avoided both at the inlet. at the outlet, which increases its flow speed and consequently the exchange value.
The fin profile shown in fig. 4, which follows the lines of flow or current, constitutes a preferred embodiment, but it should be understood that the invention is not essentially limited thereto, approximate shapes, such as the oval, the elongated rhombus , and similar profiles, which may be adopted, depending on the particular application cases and establishment requirements.
These profiles can also be made to include; various modifications of form, to obtain certain particular results.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
In Figure 6, for example, we sought to increase the exchange action in portions such as AG and 0 G of certain fins 1, and for this purpose to increase the density of, for example by increasing the angle ' incidence of the flow on these fluid portions coming into contact with these portions / This result is obtained, in the example, by shaping neighboring fins such as 5, which precede the fins 1 in the direction of flow, so to make them comprise directing surfaces for the fluid, such as, for example, curved posterior portions HJ, the fluid which leaves these fins then being deviated substantially along the arrows K towards the portions AG and CG in contact with which it is desired. increase its density.
In FIG. 7, this arrangement has been generalized to all the fins, so as to increase the exchange rate of the entire group.
In the foregoing, the fins, tips, etc., have been assumed to be associated with surfaces of any profile, plane, curved or left, the expression tubes or elements not being in any way limiting.
According to Figures 8 and 9, there is shown more specifically fins according to the invention associated with tubes such as heaters 6 and 7, arranged in succession, and preferably staggered, in the direction F of the flow. . On the tubes
6 and 7 are mounted fins 1 which can receive one of the conformations according to the invention, defined above.
In fig. 8, the fins 1 are staggered in the flow of the exchanger fluid flowing in the direction of the arrows F and it is noted that by developing the portion AB 0 of these fins to a greater or lesser extent, or the location, in the direction of flow, of the fins on the tubes, or these two elements at the same time, it is possible to modify, to a greater or lesser extent, the distribution and the action of the exchange fluid on the tubes 6 and 7 themselves, with a more marked interest in the exchange of portions of these tubes other than those
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
directly opposed to the flow of the exchange fluid. Such a result cannot be achieved with fins of the usual conformation, such as those shown in figs. 1 and 2 for example.
According to FIG. 9, the same arrangement as in FIG. 8 has been adopted, but the larger space left free on the tubes 6 and 7 by the rear portions of the fins 1, is used to dispose of small additional fins. of that 8, of similar or different conformation / of the prinoipa- fins in particular the 1 according to the mutual actions that it is desired to create / between the fins.
The tubes such as 6 and 7 could of course receive any desired conformation, and in particular profiles adapting to the lines of flow, as has already been proposed.
As goes without saying, and as has already been suggested, the various embodiments indicated are only examples, and modifications could be made to them without thereby departing from the limits of the invention. , this also encompassing variants and equivalents.
