 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Fig, 1 est une vue en élévation latérale d'un organe élastique conforme à l'invention;
Fig. 2 est une vue perspective. d'une monture de siège comprenant plusieurs organes élastiques, en cours de montage;
Fig. 3 est une vue partielle, en élévation et coupe, à échelle agrandie, d'un détail de ce montage ;

Figs.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

REVENDICATIONS

  IMPROVEMENTS TO SEATS AND SIMILAR OBJECTS.

   The invention relates to seats and similar objects, this definition encompassing the seats proper for all applications, as well as the objects, generally used for rest, but relates more particularly however to the seats intended for motor vehicles, and other locomotive devices, must have marked elastic qualities. '
Its main purpose is to improve these qualities of elasticity and to make them more permanent, by providing an elastic system that is more flexible and more robust than those proposed until now.

   To this end, it consists in having back, in order to constitute the elastic system, elastic members of relatively large extent, at least a portion of which is circumvented, in particular shaped as a spiral and which participates in the elastic work of the assembly.

   It comprises, in addition to the elastic members as defined above, the combinations and assemblies of these members to constitute the mounts of seats, backs, etc., and more especially a preferred method of assembly, but of course only example.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 plative and non-limiting, which will be more explicitly discussed in the additional description which follows, with reference to the appended drawing, in which:
Fig, 1 is a side elevational view of an elastic member according to the invention;
Fig. 2 is a perspective view. a seat frame comprising several elastic members, during assembly;
Fig. 3 is a partial view, in elevation and in section, on an enlarged scale, of a detail of this assembly;

Figs. 4 and 5 show this assembly respectively in front and side elevation, also on an enlarged scale.

   With reference to FIG. 1, an elastic member according to the invention comprises a relatively convex and relatively extended part, 1, on which the load is applied, this part 1 extending at one or at each of its ends, by contoured portions, 2, preferably in a spiral as shown, in order to provide the elastic member with a large development. pement, this or these portions participating to a greater or lesser extent in the elastic deformations.

   Indeed, if the load is low, or else, under a given static load, for shocks of low value, part 1 will be deformed mainly while parts 2 will participate weakly in the deformation, while under the action of a high load, or violent shocks, part 1 having substantially reached its maximum deflection, parts 2 will deform more, moreover slowing down the deformation by the increase in resistance which they oppose to it.

   The resilient member further comprises portions 3 intended for its subjection to suitable supports.

   To constitute, using elastic members of the type indicated, seat mounts and anaiogues, one can proceed in different ways, but advantageously in the manner ciéapr0s.

   With reference to FIGS. 2 to 5, the elastic members are preferably formed by means of elastic bands of metal.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 ques, the dimensions of which are proportional to the elastic resistance that one seeks to obtain, and, in parallel, at intervals determined according to the overall elastic resistance to be achieved, a certain number of elastic members are available , as shown in figure 2.

   Each of these members is fixed, at its ends, by its portions 3, to transverse support members 4, themselves mounted or secured either to the fixed frame of the seat, or, advantageously, to longitudinal members 5 which, with the transverse members 4, form a rigid frame.

   This fixing and this mounting can be carried out in different ways, but the procedure will preferably be as follows.

   Two members 6 are provided, which can receive any section, but which will advantageously have a semicircular section, or even better, the crescent-shaped section shown, and these members are arranged facing each other in leaving between them sufficient space to engage the parts 3 of the elastic members.

   The members 6 are then held rigidly assembled by an external ligature, established on either side of the portions 30
To constitute these ligatures, we use, by precedence,: tube holes 7, dopt the corresponding bore. at the external @ @ meter of all the components 6.

   These tube sections will receive lengths corresponding to the spacings that it is desired to leave between the elastic members, so that once in place, said elastic members will be securely held both for the fitting of the portions 3 and laterally. . '
Figures 3 and 4 clearly show this assembly.

   And to fix the supports 4 in the longitudinal members 5, we can either simply make openings in these members corresponding to these supports and keep the latter in the said openings in any suitable manner, for example.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 by riveting, crimping, etc., or better still, the ends of one of the members 6 are conformed in a square, or any other polygonal section, as in 8 in FIG. 5, and one engages these ends in corresponding openings 9 of the members 5, by opening them out or riveting them slightly if necessary, after this engagement, -
If desired, the elastic members can be made more or less integral with each other for their deformations, using transverse members 10, rigid, elastic or semi-elastic.

   And we thus obtain a particularly rigid assembly which is also simple and economical,
Of course, the invention is not limited thereto and it is also possible to make modifications to this assembly without thereby departing from the limits of the invention.

   Although in the preceding description a seat frame has been aimed in particular, the mounting described also applies to an elastic backrest frame, and / all elastic supports in general. CLAIMS
