<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
ture.
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Safety support easel, for bicycles and motorcycles.
------------
The present invention has for ob.jet a safety support trestle for bicycles, motorcycles or the like, which makes it possible by a simple maneuver to stand the bicycle on the street and at the same time to fix one of the wheels of the machine. The device according to the present invention therefore fulfills a dual function, namely: the setting upright and the safety of the bicycle. From this point of view, the device represents an essential technical progress compared to the current standing and safety devices which each performed separately one of these functions.
An exemplary embodiment of the object of the invention is shown in the drawing.
Fig. 1 shows the front wheel of the bicycle with the safety easel in front view.
Fig. 2 shows the same parts in side view.
Fig. 3 shows a detail of the front axle in section.

Fig. 4 shows a section along the line I-I of FIG. 5, in a spur of the safety easel.
Fig. 5 shows this part in side view.
Fig. 6 shows a detail of the mudguard with the hanging safety easel, partly in section.
Fig. 7 shows details of the upper part of the safety easel with the lock, partly in section.
Fig. 8 shows a section through line II-II of fig.7.
Fig. 9 shows a detail of the lock, on a larger scale and partly in section.
We denote by 1 the usual frame of the bicycle, by 2 the fork of the front wheel, by 3 the fender, by 4 the support rod for the fender and by 5 the hooking device for the easel security. The latter consists of a profiled caliper 8 which is flattened at the height of the axle of the front wheel. The easel is mounted so that it can rotate on the front wheel axle. A spring 7, arranged appropriately, tends to attract the ohevalet in its suspended position, that is to say to put it out of action.
One of the arms of the caliper 8 is extended upwards and carries a safety lock 6 which engages with a collar 13, 20, 21, 22 fixed on the fork 2. At the lower part, the caliper has 9 spurs ending in spikes for rigid mounting of the bicycle on the street. By 10 and 11 we denote the rim and the tire of the front wheel.
18 is the axle, 19 is the spokes and 23 is the hub of this wheel. The rotatable arrangement of the safety stand on the axle 12 is effected by means of a sleeve 14 (fig. 3) screwed onto the axle and on which another sleeve 15 welded to the caliper 8 can turn. is held by the washer 16 and the eorou 17 on the sleeve 14. The lock 6, arranged on the extension 24 of the bridge, has a bolt 18 that a spring 25 tends to attract in the open position.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
ture. One of the ends of this spring is fixed to the housing of the lock, the other end engages behind a pin 26 placed on the bolt 18.
In the lock is further provided a stop disc 27 which can engage in a suitable groove 32 (Fig. 9) of the bolt 18 and is drawn into the locking position by a spring 31. It has been arranged. finally in the lock a safety rod 28 and a guide sleeve 29 for the key 30. The arrangement of the lock is given here by way of example. It can also be done in another way.
The safety easel according to the invention is handled as follows:
If you want to stand the bicycle or a similar device on the street and put it in safety, the bracket 8 is folded forward (fig. 1) so that it rests with the spurs 9 on the ground. The spurs then ensure a safe training of the bicycle. When the easel or the stirrup is folded down, the lock 6 comes within reach of the collar 13, 20, 21, 22 fixed on the fork 2. A part, for example part 13, of this collar has in a suitable place, an opening 33 for the passage of the bolt 18. The bolt 18 hitherto in the open position is moved forward by hand so that it first passes through the opening 33 provided in the collar and then reaches between the spokes 19 of the wheel.
Then the stop disc 27 falls into the corresponding groove 32 of the bolt 18, so that the latter is immobilized in the blocking position. The ohevalet is then rigidly connected to the frame of the bicycle but at the same time the rotation of the front wheel is prevented.
If you want to open the lock, the key 30 is introduced into the guide sleeve 29. The key is then turned to the right. A rotation of the key is however only possible when the profiling of its bit corresponds
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
to that of the safety rod 28. After the key has passed in front of the rod 28, its lower part engages in a suitable recess 34 of the disc 27, so that the latter is also driven. During the described rotation of the key, a recess 35 of the disc 27 reaches the location of the locking part of this disc so that the spring 25 can return the bolt 18 to the open position. The stirrup 8 can then be folded back into the running position, so that the bicycle can then be used.
What has been said above about the arrangement of the lock also applies here.
It goes without saying that certain parts of the subject of the invention can be modified within the framework of the invention.
Likewise, the device could, with an appropriate arrangement, be applied to the axle of the rear wheel of the bicycle.
