Sound reproducer for gramophones and similar devices.
--------
Sound reproducers for gramophones and similar devices are known in which the sound reproduction is done without the use of a resonance box. To this end, the vibrations of the needle are taken up by a rod integral with the needle fixing system and moving away from it freely, and transmitted by the latter to a membrane mounted at its free end.
The invention relates to a sound reproducer of this species and consists in this, that the freely spreading rod is secured to a flat metal tab carrying the needle, the tab itself being fixed by its upper end to a support insensitive to vibrations.
By this arrangement, in the reproduction of sound, the vibrations of the needle are taken up by the metal tongue and transmitted by it to the rod and to the membrane; in this way, a reproduction of the ex-

very pure and free from parasites.
The invention is shown by way of example by the drawing, FIG. 1 showing the arrangement seen from the side with partial section, and FIG. 2. the same layout seen from the front, with the membrane removed.
A support 1 in the form of an arm laterally carries a journal 2 by which it mounts in the socket-shaped end of the arm of a gramophone. This end sleeve is not shown in the drawing. The arm 1 and the trunnion 2 are of sufficient weight, or if not, they are designed in such a way that they do not follow the vibrations during sound reproduction. The arm 1 carries on the side opposite the journal 2 a flat metal tongue 3 fixed by its upper part by means of the screw 4. The tongue 5 carries at its lower end a fixing system 5 for the needle 6, and at its lower end -above, a metal rod 7 separating freely at a right angle or other, at the end of which is mounted a removable membrane 8.
The membrane 8 is of known construction and generally has the shape of a very flat funnel, mounted by means of the sleeve 9 which surmounts its top, on the free end of the rod 7 and fixed by the clamping screw 10 formed in the sack 9.
During sound reproduction, the metal tongue 3, the rod 7 and the membrane 8 are set in vibration and thus a reproduction absolutely free of interference is obtained.
By a judicious choice of the length of the rod and the dimension of the membrane, one can determine at will the tone of the reproduction of the sound.
