Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

  Device for the thermal insulation of parts of piping, @ The present invention relates to a device for the thermal insulation of parts of piping such as joints, valves, tees, and in general any part of piping that can be dismantled and subject to steam leak.

   The present invention aims to provide an insulation device which is easily removable and of great duration.

   For this purpose, the device according to the invention consists of two shells, preferably of semi-circular shape, assembled together in a removable manner; each of these shells comprises a heat-insulating material, such as slag wool, internally and laterally protected by a sheet metal casing of suitable shape and externally by a screed of cement or similar material.

   Thanks to the invention there is therefore no longer any fear of contact between the slag wool and the condensation water coming from the leaks which could quickly destroy this slag wool and rust the metal parts exposed to contact with the water. condensation.

   In order to allow the easy release of the leaking vapors, a tube of small section is, according to the invention, inserted

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 in one of the shells so as to allow free communication between the interior and the exterior.

   In addition to facilitate disassembly, a ring or other fastening member is embedded in the ciment yoke.

   The accompanying drawings show by way of nonlimiting example one embodiment of the invention. This extends to the various original features included in the arrangement shown.

   Fig.l is a side view of a shell according to one embodiment of the invention.

   Fig. 2 is a sectional view through this shell.

   The heat-insulating material 2 consisting of first quality slag wool is held between two annular sheet metal plates 3 and by a cylindrical sheet metal plate 4. These plates are assembled together by brackets 5 riveted to the two sheets. The annular plates 3 are terminated by flanges 3a in which is embedded a Portland cement screed 6. In this screed is embedded a hooking system by ring 7. A small section tube 8 passes through the entire thickness of the shell so as to allow the free release of vapor which may result from leaks.

   Fastening tabs such as 9 are provided at the ends of the shell so as to allow the rapid assembly of two shells. The inner sheet 4 is extended by flanges 4a intended to form a covering during the assembly of two shells.

   The thickness of the packing 2 depends on the temperature of the steam and the heat losses * allowed.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   The device according to the invention prevents the infiltration of condensation water into the slag wool and thus gives the device a long service life.

    @
The invention is not limited to the embodiment described by way of example but extends to any device for the thermal insulation of parts of piping which falls within the spirit or scope of one or more another of the following claims.

   CLAIMS.

   1. Device for the thermal insulation of parts of piping such as joints, valves, tees, etc., characterized in that the device consists of two shells, preferably of semi-circular shape , assembled together in a removable manner.
