<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Reinforced concrete roofing and related manufacturing process.
The present invention relates to a reinforced concrete roof and the related manufacturing process.
The covering according to the invention is essentially characterized by the fact that it comprises at least one sheet in the form of a lined surface, preferably in the form of a hyperbalic paraboloid or of a conoid, the reinforcement of which comprises iron bars. arranged along the generatrices of the lined surface and kept taut in the casting, metal elements preferably in the form of a net being further oriented along the isostatic lines of the vault.
The method for the construction of the roofing according to the invention is essentially characterized by the fact that one has (above all) the means for the realization of the guiding lines of the lined surface to be produced, then the measuring bars. according to the generatrices of the lined surface, so as to keep them taut and that the reinforcements may be applied.

In this way, covers of very great strength and of minimal weight are obtained, able to cover also very large spaces, particularly useful for constructions of aircraft garages and the like.
The invention will now be explained, only by way of indicative and non-limiting example, with reference to the accompanying drawing, which shows two embodiments of the invention.
Figures 1-2 show a first embodiment of the roof or vault, respectively in partial plan and corresponding elevation view.
Figure 3 is a sectional view at the edges, showing the method of making the cover.
Figure 4 is the cross section.
Figure 5 shows a detail of the support.
Figures 6 and 7 are respectively an end elevation and a cross section of a large aircraft garage cover made in accordance with the invention.
Referring to Figures 1 to 5, the bearing surface A is formed by four sheets in the form of a hyperbolic paraboloid connected two by two by suitable mounting.
The side members and tie rods of the perimeter are, for simplicity, made of one piece, 1 respectively 2.
The systems of side members and tie-rods of the perimeter and the median crossing B are formed and cast, for example, with the usual systems, up to the height of the lower surface of the vault, that is to say by providing a suitable formwork, for example in wood, with the metal reinforcement and then pouring the concrete into it.
The side members of the perimeter and the crossing which follow the shape
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
of the perimeter of the surface, are divided into a suitable number of equal parts; then between each pair of corresponding points 3, metal wires 4 are stretched which take the position of the different generatrices of the vault, the latter thus being a lined surface.
The wires 4, which could be called “directors”, can be arranged in both directions, and in this case, a reticulated network will be formed which will take the exact shape of the arch to be constructed.
To tension the son, one can also use mechanical tensioners 5 (FIG. 3). A metallic net 6 of the most suitable type of mesh is then attached to or superimposed on the guiding wires 4, such that its metallic section with that of the guiding wires corresponds to the quantity of iron required according to the calculation of the arch.
With the metal net 6, the direction of the isostatic lines can be given, which, in the particular case, form an angle of 45 with the guiding wires.
We will then proceed directly to the concreting of the slab of the vault, which can be carried out by plastering from below or by casting from above, as well as. casting of the parts that have not yet been made of the crossing and of the side members or support bases.
The stripping of the box springs and tie-rods from the perimeter as well as the. crossing takes place according to the usual rules: at the same time the protruding ends of the guide wires are cut, freeing them from the tensioners.
The formation and the concreting of the vault can be carried out, of course, after the concreting of the parts of the perimeter and crossing or at the same time.
In the case of large spans ,. where one could fear that the guide wires will give way during and after concreting, which would cause a permanent deformation of the vault, the di-

rectifiers or the net or both together may be supported at suitable distances by means of catenary suspensions or other system located at the top, or by supports placed below. For the concreting of the vault, we can also proceed to the formation of a first layer of thin thickness which, once the setting has taken place, will function as a formwork for a second layer of thickness such as to be obtained in total. the thickness determined by the calculation.
The practical execution of the layers can be obtained either by hand or by mechanical means.
In the event that it is not possible or not useful to provide all the metallic surface determined by the calculation, by the surface of the guiding wires and of the net, one will proceed to the installation of an additional iron, directly on the wire-net system, or (when the vault is concreted in two stages) on the first layer of concrete; these complementary irons can also be given the. direction of isostatic lines.
It is understood that in practice the details of the execution of the invention as well as its applications may vary in any way without departing from the scope of the invention.
