EMI1.3
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
CONCLUSION

P" The present invention aims to increase the efficiency of a heating boiler. cen, tral, -en. street of a more economical normal operation ,. and, includes a special device for admitting air in the hearth of this boiler.
The air intake being generally under a horizontal or inclined grid, or by a nozzle of any shape, the present device constitutes. an innovation by

compared to existing systems, .. ¯ - ..¯, .... ¯ ... ¯ DESCRIPTION.
EMI1.3
In the end of the fQyër of a central heating boiler with hot water or steam, there is placed an element of cast iron or other fire resistant material, and
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
having the shape of an inverted V (fig.l).
This element (Economizer) for the present case is water circulating and is designed in such a way that it actually forms an air distribution chamber of special design, triangular for ease of understanding and whose side walls are pierced with orifices (fig. 2) of specially designed dimensions according to the different fuels used and the type of installation.
These orifices constitute the passage reserved for, the admission of air into the furnace of the boiler and, as we said above, the dimensions may vary according to the needs of the cause, the air pressure or the size of the fuel used. Example: wide for natural draft, narrow for the blown hearth.
This air can be pushed by the force of a fan in the case of automatic boilers regulated by thermostat and it can also be admitted by simple aspiration of the chimney draft (depression) for ordinary boilers; in the latter case, the temperature of the boiler or the pressure of the steam actuates an air intake flap and this, via a known regulator.
The length of the element (Economizer) corresponds to that of the fireplace, that is to say that it consists of a single part or of sections joining together, the number of sections corresponding to that of the boiler. as long as the width is the same, it should be noted that the extreme sections will be hollow, will form a veil with water circulation and will at the same time serve as a closure for the air box (fig. 9).
Any other arrangement can be used and for example an element (Economiser) in one piece (fig.
7) or element (Economiser) in t8le or steel (even as refractory).
In the event of separate sections, the assembly can be maintained by tie rods placed either in the axis of the biconical rings forming joints and internally to them,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
and any other arrangement could be used such as: inner ears for example (fig. 10). These tie rods could be maintained using jumpers or any other part serving as a guide (fig.ll).
Water circulation is ensured by communication at one or more points (fig. 12) on the rear facade and, in its lower part, with the boiler return manifold specially fitted for this purpose and, at its upper part, with the outlet manifold (fig. 13).
In order to ensure the perfect circulation of water at all points, the facade having as well as the rear receives, according to the needs, the return water through any device connecting that here to the return manifold.
The rear panel of the ¯ (Economiser) element is also pierced with a hole. (fig.15) of any shape and size, suitable, in which the fan blows for the forced-air stove, for the stove, at. natural draft, one adapts to this opening one. air valve.
ADVANTAGE?
The advantage of this device (Economizer) resides: - @ 1 / In that its surface is larger than that of any horizontal or inclined grid, given its two sides; this double grid, being with water circulation, it is obvious that it increases the surface area of the boiler itself.
2 / In that the temperature of the water it contains is always higher than that of the boiler itself since it is located in the middle of the fire.
3 / In that the circulation of the element (Economiser) coming to be connected in the starting collector, in the axis of the departure of the circulation, forms, in a way ¯injector type giffard and accelerates the circulation in the installation.
4 / In that, when stopping the fan or closing
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
of the draft valve, the temperature of the element (Economiser) increases appreciably as a result of the large surface area of the incandescent fuel with the said economiser, and continues for a very long time to actively ensure the circulation in the pipes and this, with a minimal consumption of combustible.
5 / In that, during ignition or re-ignition, the circulation is established much faster than in any ordinary boiler, because it forms a sort of small boiler with high efficiency inside the other; this gives an extremely rapid start-up.
6 / In that the blowing or admission of air into the fireplace, through openings inclined from top to bottom at an angle appropriate to the different cases (fig. 18), there is no possible obstruction of the Blowing orifices neither by slag nor by ash or by any dust.
CONCLUSION
For all the reasons listed above, this element (Economizer) is really an innovation on existing systems, because, while ensuring fuel economy, it provides operating economy and an increase in efficiency justifying the name Economizer. with which it was endowed.
CLAIMS @ A specially shaped box surrounded by water serves as an air distributor in the hearth of a central heating boiler with hot water or steam, so as to increase the grate surface of this hearth. This box is pierced with openings suitable for fuel and operation, so that the fresh air introduced into the box is directed onto the coal from top to bottom to prevent any blowing obstruction.
