<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Turski ( Melliand's Textilberichte, 1937 vol.
XVIII, 1ère partie, page 75), le nouveau procédé pré-
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
' sente l'avantage considérable de permettre l'application des composants sur la fibre aussi bien en solution neutre qu'en solution faiblement acide. On peut donc faire appel au nouveau procédé dans le cas où il s'agit de fibres animales, sans craindre une influence nuisible sur celles- cio

B Rye V 9 T - Dl 1 NVE N T L'ON Process for the production of solid dyes, and products obtained by this process ".
The Applicant has found that little, 1 obtain dyes offering good fastness properties by applying to the fiber sulfonic acids or,

sulfonates of hydroxynaphthoxazols, hydroxynaphtothiazols or hydroxynaphthoimidazols comprising, attached to the carbon atom of the heterocyclic ring, an aromatic or araliphatic radical which contains an aminogenic group capable of being diazotized and which may contain other substituents, then diazotizing them and coupling them to themselves or to another diazo compound of an amine of said constitution which has been anchored to the fiber in the same bath.
It is possible, for example, to carry out or complete the autocopulation by treating the diazotization bath with acid reducing agents or else by following the treatment with this diazotization bath with a treatment with another bath having an alkaline action.
In comparison with the process described in German Patent No. 552,926 filed April 10, 1929 in the name of Josef Félix Turski, a process which relates to the production of insoluble azo dyes on the fiber by the autocopulation of amino-arylides of hydroxycarboxylic acids and in comparison with the process comprising the use of dyes with self-copulative action which belong to the arylide series of 2,3-hydroxynaphthoic acid and have been described in the publication of Professor JS Turski (Melliand's Textilberichte, 1937 vol.
XVIII, 1st part, page 75), the new pre-

There is the considerable advantage of allowing the components to be applied to the fiber in both neutral and weakly acidic solutions. We can therefore use the new process in the case of animal fibers, without fear of a harmful influence on them.
The new process is distinguished, moreover, by the high degree of certainty which it offers as to the completion of the dyeing.
