 EMI2.4

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

  Sugar string forming machine
Two kinds of machines were used to roll the sugar used to make sweets into a string. The first type consists of rolling cones arranged substantially horizontally in the shape of a trough. With these machines, sugar cores are made, both unfilled and filled, and with or without stripes. In these machines, the coming of sugar must be advanced by means of a special device or by hand. Up to now, we have not yet succeeded in obtaining a uniform and continuous advance of the sugar in these machines. Machines of the second kind work vertically. Their cones are arranged in the form of funnels.

   The sugar comes out of these machines evenly, however the funnel shape is not suitable for making filled or striped sugar strings.

   The present invention combines the advantages of these two types of machines without having the drawbacks thereof.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   The combination of these three characteristics is

 Lt-l (.l8; 1 - The positioncbliquee as a result of which the sugar e, -.-, t # i-aiicé by its own weight; 2 - the ", open uC8 formed at the top of the rolling cones ;
3 - the sugar string surrounded by the cones on the side of the excess, gives a new machine for forming the sugar strings which works automatically and which can be used for all; goals.

   Another advantage of this invention is the simplicity of construction of the machine.

     Slums that in the horizontal machines to form,:, or the sugar cords, the cones to roll are mounted, to
 EMI2.4
 their posterior ends, so as to follow the cone of sugar which becomes ever thinner during work, in the new cji-struction, the rollers can be mounted fixed4Cowl1lG the coming of sugar is always pushed forward by its own weight, it is constantly in contact with Your bearing cones. The coming is always getting shorter.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 while the angle of the casing of the sugar cone remains the same, 0 * is why the bearing cones can be mounted in a fixed position at their posterior ends. The control of the bearing cones is thus made simpler.

   In the new machine, the sugar cone still applies against all the bearing cones with low pressure. This is why, in the same cross-sectional planes, the bearing cones must have exactly the same peripheral speed. In known machines which work horizontally, the upper bearing cones are conically offset in the opposite direction to the output end to give the sugar bead a sufficient discharge section. In old machines, this results in different peripheral speeds at the output ends of the rolling cones which, in the new machine, would cause disturbances.

   This is why, according to the invention, the upper rolling cones are shorter, so that the passage section for the sugar bead is moved back, that is to say brought to a point where the cones bearing are large enough to leave free the desired large section of outlet for the sugar bead.

   The lower bearing cones are extended until they are narrowed to the smallest possible diameter. This reduces the peripheral speed of the sugar bead rotating with the rolling cones, so that the passage of the bead on the spinning board which is at rest or on a stretching device can be done without the bead being torn by the twist.

   Figures 1, 2 and 3 of the accompanying drawings schematically show an arrangement of this kind.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

   The rolling cones are designated by 1, 2, 3 and 4, the sugar cone being designated by 5.

   Figures 4 and 5 show the execution of a machine. The bearing cones 6, 7, 8 and 9 are arranged in a box 10 which, on the one hand, is mounted to oscillate around the pins 11 and 12 and, on the other hand, can be set in the oblique position. by means of the shaft 13 and the handwheel 14. It is thus possible to obtain the most favorable oblique position for each type of sugar. The bearing cones 6 and 7 are shorter than the lower canes 8 and 9. Their narrower ends can move in order to modify, within certain limits, the output section.
