<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Exhaust hood for flue gases with backflow prevention for liquid heaters.
This invention relates to a flue gas exhaust hood with backflow prevention for a liquid heater.
In order to laterally deflect the discharged gases, known devices of this type include in the hood an impact plate or a similar device which prevents the discharged gases from entering the combustion chamber. Since then the discharged gases exit laterally in a downward direction determined by the conical shape of the hood, the combustion gases are also pushed up and down and thus run the risk of being sucked back with the combustion air.
According to the invention, this disadvantage is obviated by
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
having at the lower end of the exhaust gas exhaust hood a deflector part such that the discharged gases exit the hood separately from the combustion gases, in a direction deviated laterally.
In this way it is ensured that the combustion gases leaving below the deflector part are sucked in with the discharged gases and are thus driven laterally out of the liquid heater already substantially at their outlet, so that they cannot be mix with the combustion air coming to the flame.
Furthermore, according to the invention, the deflector piece mounted near the exhaust gas hood and having for example an annular shape corresponding to that of the hood, is wider at its lower part than the lower opening of the hood. hood, so that the discharged gases which fall directly into contact with the interior wall of the hood are also deflected laterally.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the lower periphery of the deflector part has a horizontal or substantially horizontal shape, which ensures that the discharged gases and the combustion gases discharged laterally rise in the room already at a relatively short distance from the liquid heater.
The accompanying drawing shows in vertical section an exemplary embodiment of the invention.
The flue gas exhaust hood 1 is mounted in a manner known per se above the liquid heater 2 and is provided with an impact plate 3 or a similar device which prevents the discharged gases from entering. the combustion chamber of the liquid heater 2.
At the lower end of the flue gas hood
1 is mounted a deflector part 4 having for example a

annular shape corresponding to that of the hood 1 and placed internally at a sufficient distance therefrom.
The shape and arrangement of the deflector part 4 are such that the discharged gases are discharged from the hood 1 separately from the combustion gases, in a direction deflected laterally. The path of the discharged gases is indicated in the drawing by the solid arrow line 5 and the path of the combustion gases in the event of discharge is indicated by the dotted arrow line 6.
The lower periphery of the deflector part 4 is advantageously wider than the lower opening of the hood 1 and furthermore it has a horizontal or substantially horizontal shape.
