Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

    PROCEDE DE FABRICATION DE FILS ELECTRIQUES ET PRODUITS EN RESULTANT.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

    METHOD OF MANUFACTURING ELECTRIC WIRES AND RESULTING PRODUCTS.

   The present invention relates to electrically conductive wires and relates to a manufacturing process, which gives the wires a very high insulation coefficient and ensures their incombustibility. This last advantage is of great importance in general, it This is especially so when the wires are to be used for railway signaling and the like.

   According to the invention, it is first wound around the bare conductor of the glass wire; then passes through the wire thus wrapped a bath of insulating and fire-retardant varnish. Then a second wrapping is carried out, after which it is varnished and fire-retardant again. Before the varnish is completely dry, the wire is advantageously covered with talc, to facilitate its passage in the pipes.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   The second wrapping can be replaced by a braiding around the conducting thread of an asbestos thread, of cotton or of a suitable textile fiber.

   Thanks to the fire-retardant double varnishing undergone by the wire, it is made completely incombustible, so that its exposure to the flame does not in any way influence its insulation.
