PER]rECTI0NESl/i3ÎTTS AUX ONGLETS OU CAVALIERS DE C IA,i:,''Ili I3T
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

PER] rECTI0NESl / i3ÎTTS TO TABS OR JUMPERS OF C IA, i:, '' Ili I3T
The present invention relates to tabs or jumpers for index cards, files, tear-off systems, and the like.
More particularly, the invention relates to filing systems in which the files and files are provided with tabs, lugs, or the like.
Ji-after, the word tab will be used to designate both a detachable jumper, protruding from the edge of a card, or a similar article, and a lug also protruding but forming part of the corresponding card or similar article. .
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
These tabs are intended to carry indications.
According to previous manufacturing methods, the surface of the tab bearing the indications or markers occupied a vertical position in the system, so that, when the system was at a fairly low level with respect to the user, the reading of the tab indications were inconvenient.
The main aim of the invention is to improve the construction of tabs and systems carrying documents such as files, files and the like, the elementary parts of which are provided with tabs.
Another object of the invention is the constitution of a tab on which the indications can be read conveniently, whatever the level at which the system which carries it is arranged, compared to the size of a normal individual.
An additional purpose of the intent is the readability of the text carried by the tab on both sides of the tab.
The object of the invention is also the constitution of an improved system for supporting documents such as files, files, and the like.
The tab according to the invention has two faces of sufficient area to contain a text, or indications and these two faces are at a certain angle to each other. This angle is preferably equal to 90.
The device, object of the invention, is shown schematically, by way of nonlimiting examples, by the accompanying drawings.
Figures 1 and 2 of these drawings show respectively, in vertical section and in plan, a drawer for hanging files (vertical classification), each of which
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
is provided with a tab according to the invention.
The section in Figure 1 is made along the line I-I of Figure 2.
Figures 3 to 8 show, in perspective, tabs according to the invention.
According to Figures 1 and 2, a drawer 2 is mounted in a cabinet or cabinet 1, so as to be able to be extracted or inserted at will!
The files 4 are suspended on the edges 3, which are part of the drawer, by means of rigid bands 5, provided with notches 6. Each file 4 is provided with a tab 7 and, as known per se, the tabs are offset one to another.
The tabs have two almost perpendicular faces: the front face 8 and the upper face 9.
The text is carried as well on one as on the other of these sides of the tab.
It can be seen in Figures 1 and 2 that, either from the front or from above, the indications carried by the tabs can be read without any difficulty. Therefore, with regard to the visibility of said text, there is no difference whether the drawer is placed high or low.
It is possible to use, instead of files, all other documentation elements such as, for example, index cards. If desired, the miter bearing element can be divided beforehand, by means of fold lines, into corresponding zones. to the length of the tabs.
The tabs can be made from paper, cardboard, metal, transparent materials, celluloid, cellophane, mica, artificial glass, or the like.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
If tabs of opaque material, such as metal or bakelite, are used, windows can be made in them, if necessary, by means of transparent material.
When the tabs are placed in a position offset from one another, the capacity of the document holder drawer is not reduced by the presence of the tabs.
If the tab is attached to the document holder member so as to be able to be detached therefrom, the method of attachment can be of any kind.
As shown in Figures 3 and 4, for example, the vertical face 10 of the tab may be provided with tabs 11 and 12 fitting into openings of the document holder.
The latter can be provided with a certain number of these openings in order to allow the offset arrangement of the tabs with respect to one another.
The section of the tab of FIG. 3 has the shape of an inverted L; that of the tab of figure 4 has the shape of a T.
These tabs form supports allowing the application of one or more strips of paper, or similar material, carrying the text.
With the tab of FIG. 4, two bands 13 and 14 are used for this purpose, while with the L-shaped tab one band 15 is sufficient. For convenience, the latter may be provided with a fold line or groove.
Figures 5 and 6 give examples of opaque tabs provided with windows 16.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
the tab of Figure 5 is interchangeable. its lower part is endowed with the necessary elasticity so that the edge of the plug or the backrest is pinched between the two flexible lower partitions of the tab.
The double partition tab of Figure 6 is intended for attachment, for example by riveting to a plug, file or the like.
FIG. 7 relates to a particularly simple embodiment of the invention. The tab is of a single thickness on which the text can be either written directly or applied by means of strips of gummed paper.
Figure 8 shows how the tab can be an integral part of the record or file.
The vertical face of the tab may be made from part of the surface of the document holder itself, so that it is sufficient to provide the latter with a horizontal rim which constitutes the horizontal face of the tab. .
In the systems in which the document holders are arranged horizontally (classification mode known as: horizontal) the horizontal face of the tab can be formed by part of the surface of the document holder and it is then sufficient to add to it here the vertical face.
