Description

 <EMI ID=1.1>

 <EMI ID=2.1>

 <EMI ID=7.1>

 <EMI ID=8.1>

  Improvements made to coils of

The present invention relates to devices intended to support threads and it relates, more particularly, to devices of this kind of tubular shape such as they are used in spinning and weaving. In the following the simpler term "spool" is used to denote any conventional device for supporting textile materials, such as a spool, taper winding, bobbin or the like and the term "thread" is used to designate yarns of all kinds.

 <EMI ID = 1.1>

wire, is usually wound, on tubular coils

and conical. The yarn thus wound up is used in a weaving which depends on the spinning itself or in independent weaves. The coil of. spinning has a certain value and therefore it is important that it can be used multiple times. In addition, the reel is strongly stressed during the spinning operations and during winding necessarily applied in the weaves so that the reel must be very strong to be able to withstand these stresses.

When the coils are made in the manner, recognized in cardboard or strong paper or in any other resistant material, for example artificial resin, there is no

has no difficulty in meeting these requirements. However, coils of this kind have the drawback that

 <EMI ID = 2.1>

not wind as much thread there as on spools of thin and soft paper, this quantity of thread being 15 to 18% less. However, the paper reels. thin-walled, are very likely to be damaged especially by being torn at the edges during winding or rewinding the thread, so much so that these spools can no longer be reused because they are worth more the transport costs of the weaving at the spinning mill.

Until now there are no known thin-walled coils made of paper, the thickness of which is less than

2 min and which are likely to receive a greater amount of thread while being able to be used several times.

The invention makes it possible to combine the advantage of known thin-walled spools of soft paper of being able to wind therein a large quantity of yarn with the advantage of thick-walled spools made of paper or other solid material. and whose walls have a

 <EMI ID = 3.1> and to be able to be used several times, the invention making it possible at the same time to avoid, on the one hand, the drawback

thin-walled coils of having reduced strength and, on the other hand, the disadvantage of heavy paper coils or

in any other solid material to be able to receive only a smaller amount of wire.

In addition, the spool established according to the invention not only has the advantages of being of prolonged use, of being able to be used several times and of being able to receive a larger quantity of thread, but also this other advantage that its weight is reduced. .

The invention consists, mainly, in constituting the coils, more particularly the ordinary paper coils of conical shape, in the form of a tube whose wall

has a thickness less than 2 mm and to reinforce said tube

along its two open ends as well as, in certain cases, between said ends. The reinforcement can be obtained in different ways, for example by interlocking, by pressing, by crimping reinforcements or metal edges. These reinforcements can extend over the entire periphery or over only part of the ends of the tube, that is to say they can be continuous or interrupted. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, reinforcing rings having a U-shaped cross section are used. These rings are first engaged

onto the ends of the paper tube and then pressed onto said ends. Reinforcement can be achieved not only with metal reinforcement but also by

reinforcements in another material. Thus, for example, the edges of the tube or sleeve can be impregnated

synthetic resin or other material that hardens

by heat and / or pressure. In this case we use

preferably molds for casting and / or for pressing these artificial materials so that they form at the ends of the tube rims which are thicker than the paper wall and which thus sufficiently reinforce the ends of said tube. As reinforcement. the material itself which constitutes the paper tube can be used and in this case ribs or grooves can be pressed into the ends of the tube or the paper at its ends can be folded back and pressed onto the tube so that said ends self.ent reinforced by the parts of the paper which have thus been .rabattues and subjected to pressing. Paper strips held in place by gluing or the like can also be used for reinforcement.

Fig. 1 shows, in vertical section, the whole of a coil established according to the invention.

 <EMI ID = 5.1>

scale, the top of this coil.

Fig. 3 shows, similarly, the upper part of a coil established according to another variant.

On the ends of a coil, 1 formed by a

conical paper tube, we establish reinforcements or edges

reinforcement 2. As clearly visible in fig 2, each reinforcement frame is constituted by a ring having

a U-shaped cross section and for example of metal or paper. The rings 2 are engaged on the: ends of the tube and are strongly connected to the latter, for example by pressing, gluing or crimping.

As seen in fig. 3 we can, instead

continuous rings and which extend over the entire periphery of the ends of the sleeve, use parts in the form of arcs of a circle.

The coil can, in addition to reinforcement <EMI ID = 6.1>

necessarily in one or more intermediate places.

Various methods of fixing or restraint can be used for these reinforcements. In the event that these have a U-shaped cross section, the ends of the coil are reinforced both inside and out but the reinforcing strips can only be attached to the inside or to the outside. outside, while extending over the entire contour or being interrupted. The reinforcements can have a smooth surface or they can be grooved or ribbed. If one uses large enough frames, it is possible to provide openings, cutouts or notches in order to reduce the weight. Said ribs, grooves, notches etc. may have different shapes, dimensions or locations for the various kinds of coils, for example for coils having

 <EMI ID = 7.1>

selection of the coils and by bringing in appropriate means, known per se, it is even possible to do so automatically. The reinforcements can also be of a magnetizable material in order to be able to carry out a magnetic selection. The reinforcements used to select the different kinds of coils are preferably established at an intermediate point between the two ends of the tube.

Another advantage of the flature coils obtained according to the invention, compared to those formed as usual from a thin and soft paper, lies in the

 <EMI ID = 8.1>

cement, provided at the ends of the tube, prevents the caliber of the coil from being modified during use or by the effect of atmospheric agents or humidity. The invention also makes it possible to repair reels, made of soft paper and which had already been rejected, by reinforcing their ends.
