<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"Footwear manufacturing process".
The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing shoes, more particularly shoes.
The object of the invention is to obtain a shoe having greater flexibility, while retaining a largely sufficient strength, and which can be sold at a normal price.
The invention aims above all to soften the region of the arch of the shoe, thus obtaining a better adaptation to the foot, while leaving the latter full freedom of movement.
With this intention, the method according to the invention is characterized mainly by the fact that the sides of the rod and of the first are glued together, instead of
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
to be mounted with seeds, the mounting of the back and the end of the shoe being done in the usual way. It is precisely this absence of any stiffening element in the arch of the shoe, which gives the latter remarkable flexibility.
An important advantage of the method according to the invention lies in the fact that the method requires for its execution only ordinary installations, comprising, among other things, a machine for carding the soles, a setting machine, a sewing machine. , eto ....
The invention will be described below by way of non-limiting explanation.
In the method, object of the present invention, the first operation consists of carding the upper of the shoe, which carding is only applied to the sides of the upper, without touching the end and the rear. Secondly, the sides of the insole are oarde, which, preferably, is executed as a flexible sidewall. These two operations are carried out with the intention of obtaining very rough contact surfaces.
Then the mentioned parts of the rod and the first are glued; a coating which gives excellent results is the so-called "Ago or original" glue
The rod and the first thus prepared are then mounted, by means of the ordinary mounting machine; during this operation, the end of the first and the back of it are reinforced, either with cardboard or with a special product known as "Darex" or "Onco". It should be noted that the toe and the back only of the shoe are mounted with ordinary seeds.
Then the "Ago" glue, being on the carded surfaces of the rod and the first, is revived by a dissolvent, and the assembly continues, but after cutting

the supply of seeds. This has the effect that the pinoe, working alone, brings the carded and glued part of the rod back to the carded and glued part of the first, so that the surfaces in contact are united.
The final weld is obtained by applying an appropriate pressure to the required places, pressure which, preferably, is obtained by means of pneumatic cushions containing compressed air at 4.5 Atm. The seam of the insole and the shank can be done by the ordinary Blake-Rapide machine.
Finally, the outsole is fitted by the usual methods, either by gluing or by stitching through and through, etc.
From the present description it is very clear that the shoe thus manufactured will have the qualities mentioned above. In addition, the use of the so-called "Ago or orginal" glue gives the arch of the shoe complete impermeability.
It is understood that the invention is not limited to the exemplary embodiment described above. Indeed, one could envisage a considerable number of different installations, which nevertheless carry out the process according to the invention, and which therefore fall within the limits of the idea thereof.
