     L'encli-

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

 EMI6.1
 à oaractèread'imprimerie .

 <Desc/Clms Page number 7>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 8>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 9>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 10>

  "Tilt balance with printing device".

   The invention relates to balances with a printing device and in particular to inclination balances in which in a member moved by the balance there are references subdivided into different value units and cooperating with keys which put wheels. to characters in the required positions.

   The object of the invention is to prevent weight falsifications from being effected by the fact that the balance is stopped before the weighing system has come to a stop or else oscillates within the limits. calibration error.

   In accordance with the invention, this is achieved by providing the printing mechanism with a snap-in or similar locking device which, when an attempt is made to actuate the printing mechanism, is not triggered. only if the balance weighing system is stopped or oscillates within calibration error limits.

     The incli-

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 The printing mechanism is preferably under the influence of a member which serves for the feeling of the oscillating weighing system and which, when no oscillation is transmitted to it or only oscillations included in the calibration error limits are transmitted to it, allows the release of the printing mechanism, but keeps it locked as long as the weighing system sorrel outside the calibration error limits.

   The feeler of the blocking device advantageously precedes the fixing finger intended for immobilizing the weighing system and the keys which feel the marker holder and put the type wheels in the required positions, and already hold these. organs blocked by means of the blocking device, as long as the system
 EMI2.1
 lockout still oscillates outside the calibration error limits.

   According to another characteristic of the invention, the feeler device intended to control the locking device preferably comprises two parts movable relative to each other, one of which is formed by a member, mounted so as to be able to oscillate, capable of being brought closer to the oscillating weighing system, and which, only when the weighing system does not transmit any oscillation to it or only transmit oscillations to it within the limits of calibration error, allows the movement complete of the second part of the key controlling the snap-in of the printing device.

   The oscillating member is mounted, preferably so that it can be moved in the feeling direction, on the control part of the feeling member; it is provided, on the side facing the marker holder of the printing device, with a feeling point which, during feeling, engages in a limited manner in the recesses of the marker holder and is provided, with the opposite 08tê, a slot to receive an ankle mounted on

 the control part of the t & floor member.

   According to another characteristic of the invention, there is provided in the path of the feeler member a stop, which limits the movement of the oscillating member in the direction of the marker holder, matas but is placed outside the path. of the control part of the feeler member furthermore a spring is advantageously placed between the control part and the oscillating member.

   The invention further provides that the feeling member moved by the control of the printing mechanism is used to control a locking pawl which is engaged with play in the control of the printing mechanism and is triggered or disengaged from the control when the control part of the feeler member completes its full movement, but remains at the
 EMI3.1
 oon the other hand in engagement with the control when the movements of the oscillating member prevent complete movement of the control part of the feeler member.

   Finally, the invention also provides that the displacement of the feeling member provided with the oscillating member is effected by the control of the printing mechanism through the intervention of a spring, and that the pawl blocking engaged in the control of the printing mechanism is under the influence of a spring which normally maintains it in engagement with the control and of a rod controlled by the feeler member, the spring having at the same time tendency to pull the key into its rest position.

   The drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of a device according to the invention.

   Fig. 1 of this drawing is a side view and FIG. 2 is a top view of the measuring head of a balance according to the invention, provided with a printing device, in the case where the marker holder is in the form of a disc, FIG. 3 is a front view of part of the carrier

 disc-shaped markings, Figs. 4 and 5 show the shape of the fixing grooves of the marker holder, FIG. 6.This is a side view and fig. 7 is a front view of the feeler member for controlling the latching of the printing mechanism.

   On the axis 1 of the tilting system of the balance - which is known per se and is not, for this reason, shown in detail - are fixed the needle 3 which moves over a scale. and the feeling disc 4. The axis of the needle receives its movements from the lever mechanism of the balance, through the intervention of a rack 2a and a pinion 2b. In a manner also known per se, the disc 4 is provided with feel marks. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the disk has feel-marks for hundreds, tens and ones. The feeler marks for the hundreds consist of steps 5 formed at the periphery of the disc.

   The feel marks for the tens are formed by the outer edge 6 cut in steps of notches 7 of the disc, the number of which corresponds to that of the hundreds marks, and the units marks are formed by the inner edge 8 cut in steps of these notches.

   The feeling of the marks 5,6, 8 is carried out in the axial direction of the feeling disc 4 by three keys
9,10 and 11 (fig. 2) also cut in steps.

   The 9 key is used to feel the hundreds marks, the 10 key is to feel the tens marks and the

15 of the printing device, said spring having a tendency to pull the keys towards the disc 4.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

   Each key has a stop 16 on its underside. The stops 16 rest against a transverse bar 17 of a carriage 18 movable in the frame 15 in the direction of the movement of the keys. The underside of the carriage is designed in the form of a rack 19 meshing with a toothed wheel 20.

   The toothed wheel 20 is mounted on the axle 21, which carries another toothed wheel 22, which meshes with the toothed wheel 25 mounted on the shaft 23 of the crank 24. When the crank is rotated in the direction of arrow (fig. 1), the toothed wheel 20 moves the carriage 18 and therefore the transverse bar 17 in the direction of the feeling disc 4, so that the keys 9,10, 11 are released, move under the influence springs 13 also towards the feeling disc and can carry out the feeling of the marks 5,6, 8 which are in front of them at the time in question.

   Keys 9, 10 and 11 transmit their feeling motion directly to character wheels 26, 27, 28.

   To this end, the posterior ends of the keys are executed in the form of racks 29, 30 and 31 which are in mesh with the toothed wheels 32, 33, 34 mounted on the shafts of the character wheels. Following the amplitude of the touching movement of the touches 9, 10, 11 which move in the direction of the feeling disc 4 until one of their steps comes up against a step of the feeling disc, the wheels of character printing are more or less out of place.

   The feeling of the disc 4 by the stepped keys 9, 10, 11 is advantageously carried out only after the disc has been fixed. This fixing of the disc is effected by a fixing finger 35, which is movably mounted in the frame 15 of the printing device. The fixing finger carries, at its rear end, an eyelet 36 to which is attached a spring 37, the other end of which

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

 38 is anchored to the frame 15 of the printing device, the spring tends to pull the fixing finger towards the feeler disc 4. The fixing finger carries on its lower face a stop 39, which rests against the transverse bar. sale 17 du ohaniot 18.

   When turning the crank 24 in the direction of the arrow (fig. 1), the carriage 18 and hence the crossbar 17 are moved in the manner described above in the direction of the feeler disc 4.

   The arrangement is such that the fixing finger precedes the stepped keys, so that the disc 4 is immobilized before the stepped keys feel the marks on the disc. For the immobilization of the feeling disc 4 by the fixing finger 35, which is advantageously executed in the form of a blade, the feeling disc has grooves 40 which preferably give a cross section of the blade. shape visible in fig. 4 and 5 and which are formed by milling. The milling tool is) indicated in phantom in these figures.

   After the printing type wheels 26, 27, 28 have been moved to the desired position, printing takes place by pressing a piece of paper or the like lying on the printing plate 43, against printing wheels. The printing plate 43 is mounted at one end of a two-arm pressure caliper 45, which is rotatably mounted at 44 and is controlled by a cam 46. This cam is mounted on a shaft 47, which carries a toothed wheel 48, which is in mesh with the toothed wheel 25 which is mounted on the shaft 23 of the crank.

   When turning crank 24 in the direction of the arrow, cam 46 exerts pressure on the end of pressure yoke 45, which is provided with a roller 49, and presses printing plate 45. against the wheels

   The object of the invention is to prevent a stop of the balance, before the oscillating weighing system, to which the feeling disc is rigidly connected, has stopped or before this system oscillates between the error units of calibration. To achieve this result, the printing device is provided with a snap which, when an attempt is made to activate the printing mechanism, is only lifted when the weighing system of the scale stops. or oscillates within limits, calibration error. The locking is effected by a locking pawl 50 which is mounted idle on the shaft 23 of the crank and which, normally, is held by a spring 51 engaged with a double oam 52 mounted on the shaft 47. The double cam has two cutouts 53 and 54.

   The free end of the locking pawl 50 is engaged in the notch 53, which extends over a certain part of the periphery of the cam. A spring 55, placed in the notch 54, extends through an opening in the frame of the printing device and is attached to an angled key 57 hinged at 56. The top end of the key is connected by a rod 58 at one end of the spring 51, the other end of which is anchored to the frame of the printing device. The rear end of the locking pawl 50 is articulated at 59 to the rod 58.

   As the crank 24 is rotated in the direction of the arrow, the free end of the locking pawl 50 slides along the notch 53 of the double cam 52.

  At the same time the double cam pushes the spring 55 out of the notch 54 and thus causes the angled key 57 to pivot in the direction of the feeler disc 4.

   As a result, the locking pawl 50 is moved out of the notch 53 of the double cam 52, so that if the crank continues to rotate the cam 46 abuts the pressure caliper roller 49 and the pressure caliper. printing is performed.

   To prevent the stopping of the balance by the fixing finger 35 and the stepped keys 9, 10, 11 and the establishment of a print, the angled key 57 is provided with an oscillating member 60. This member oscillating is mounted in the frame 62 by means of spikes 61 so as to be able to rotate freely and is balanced by a counterweight 63 so that it normally occupies the position shown in FIG. 6. The side of the oscillating member which is turned towards the feeling disc 4 is provided with a point 64, while its side remote from the disc 4 has a notch 65 intended to receive the pin 66 of the elbow key. 57. The frame 62 is permanently mounted on two guide bolts 67, which are movably supported in the angled key 57.

   Each of the bolts 67 is surrounded by a spring 68 which is placed between the frame 62 of the oscillating member 60 and the crank pin 57. The springs 68 tend to push the pin 66 of the crank pin 57 out of the way. 'indentation 65 of the oscillating member 60.

   On the housing 15 of the printing device there is provided a fixed stop 69 for the frame 62 of the oscillating member 60. The touch tip 64 of the oscillating member is placed opposite the grooves. fixing 40 of the feeler disc 4, and the stopper 69 is placed at a distance from the feeler disc such that the tip 64 can engage to a limited extent in the fixing grooves when the key is bent and, hence, the oscillating organ is moved towards the disc 4.

   If, as long as the weighing system of the balance is still oscillating strongly, an attempt is made to stop the balance by turning the crank 24, the elbow button
7 50 is moved, as described above, towards the feeler disc. During this movement, as the angled key precedes in its movement the fixing finger 35 and the stepped keys 9, 10, 11, the tip 64 of the oscillating member 60 first hits the fixing grooves 40 of the disc. by tâta-

 ge still oscillating strongly, hence. as a result, the tip 64 is driven by the disc 4 in one or the other direction.

   These oscillating movements of the oscillating member 60 prevent the pin 66 from engaging in the recess 65 of the oscillating member when the angled key 57 continues its movement, in antagonism with the spring 68, towards the disc. testing. The angled key can therefore not perform its full movement towards the feeler disc, so that the locking pawl 50 is not released from the notch 53 of the double cam 52 by the rod 58, but instead remains in taken with the notch and prevents

 6É 'crank 24 to continue turning.

   However, this sisifie that the fixing finger 35 does not have the possibility of engaging in the fixing grooves 40 of the feeling disc 4 and of incorrectly fixing this disc and, therefore, the entire oscillating weighing system; this also means that the keys 9, 10 and 11 do not come into action and cannot put the character wheels in position, and finally that no printing can be made with the printing device.

   When the oscillating system of the balance stops or when this system still oscillates only within the limits of calibration error, the oscillating member moves, during the engagement in the fixing grooves 40 of the feeler disc, in a position such that the ankle 66 of the

 elbow cheek 57 can enter the notch 65. The elbow key can then compress the springs 68, complete its movement in the direction of the feeler disc and pull through the rod 58 the locking pawl 50 out. of the notch 53 of the double cam 52.

   Thus the control of the printing mechanism is released and it is possible to rotate the crank 24 further, which has the consequence that the feeling disc is immobilized by the fixing finger 35, that the stepped keys feel

 marks on the disc and set the type wheels to the desired position, and printing is effected by the type wheels.

   The invention can be applied both to scales with disc-shaped marker holders and to scales with drum-shaped marker holders; it is obviously not limited to the exemplary embodiment shown and described. On the contrary, we can make many changes without going far

Thus, for example, it is not absolutely necessary that the grooves of the feeling disc which are added to the tip of the oscillating member be identical to the grooves. fixing grooves for the fixing finger 35. Likewise, the grooves assigned to the oscillating member need not necessarily be formed in the feeler disc 4. They can also be formed in another oscillating member with the oscillating weighing system of the balance.
