<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Tent for camping, foldable in the form of a trunk.
The present invention relates to a tent for camping, which folds up to take the form of a trunk of reduced dimensions, allowing it to be easily transported on the roof of a motor vehicle, for example.
The camper's equipment is always bulky; therefore, the tent had been reduced to a few jona sticks on which the canvas was placed. However, practice has shown that if one had reduced the importance of the material to carry, the comfort decreased in the same proportions.
The object of the present invention is to give camping tents maximum comfort, while reducing the space required for its transport to a minimum.
The invention essentially resides in a tent for camping, the floor of which is formed of two symmetrical parts mounted to pivot, one on the other, so as to be able to take the form of a trunk, in which are fixed , using hinges, the front and rear rigid supports of the tent canvas, these supports being able to be connected, when they are straightened, by crossbars.
Another particularity is that the said supports of the canvas consist of a front panel provided
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
a door as well as braces and made in such a way that they can be folded back into the trunk and allow it to be closed.
The front panel and the braces are connected by cross members held by stapling, so as to keep them in the upright position.
To give all the canvas supports perfect rigidity, four tensioners are provided which start two by two from a front and rear top of the tent to go separately towards one of the opposite upper corners where they pass. by a ring to then join the diametrically opposite corner of a side panel of the tent.
The rear wall of the trunk may be removable, so as to completely release the floor formed by the open trunk.
In the accompanying drawing is shown, by way of example, an embodiment of the present invention.
Fig. 1 shows, in perspective, the unfolded tent which asks only to be covered by the canvas.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a corner of the closed and empty trunk.
Fig. 3 shows an assembly of the side rails on the uprights.
Fig. 4 gives a view in longitudinal section of the trunk with the supports of the canvas folded inside.
Fig. 5 shows an assembly for the central cross member on the uprights.
According to one embodiment of the present invention, the tent comprises a trunk consisting of two symmetrical staves, a box 1 and a cover 3, mounted on hinges 3, so that the cover can be put on. - adjacent to the cash register 1.
In the trunk, is hinged 4.a panel
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
front 5 provided with a door 6 which should serve as the entrance to the tent.
The panel 5, made of triplex or other light material, is divided into two parts so that each of the half panels can be housed respectively in the box 1 and in the cover 2 and thus allow the trunk to be closed.
Two braces 7- 'are mounted on hinges 8, one in the body 1, the other in the cover 2, and on the side opposite the front panel, and are intended to form the framework of the rear part of the unit. the tent.
As shown in fig. 1, the cover 2 has been brought adjacent to the box 1 so as to form a floor after the opening of the offer, and on which the tent will be erected. The panel 5 and the cross members 7-71 having been straightened by pivoting on their respective hinges, they are held in this position by cross members 9 which are fixed by their ends to the panel and to the cross members.
Fig. 3 illustrates that this fixing can easily be done by inserting a tenon 10 which the cross members 9 carry at their ends, into clips 11 held by screws in the panel and the cross members.
Fig. 5 gives an assembly for the central cross member, making it possible, by simply passing a tenon 101 behind two clips 111, to ensure both the fixing of said cross member and two parts of the panel 5.
To give the whole a perfect rigidity, we have planned four tensioners !! which start two by two from the front and rear top of the tent to go separately to one of the opposite upper corners, where. they pass through 1S rings to then reach the diametrically opposite corner of a side panel of the tent. The canvas is preferably attached to the outer edge of the trunk, so that the tent is fully erected as soon as the front panel, rear braces and crossbars are in place.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The rear wall 14 of the trunk may be removable (see FIG. 2), so as to give the tent, once the trunk is open, a well-level floor without a median cross member, which would otherwise form said rear wall.
The fixing of the wall 14 can be ensured by known means such as a latch, latch, screws and the like.
Fig. 4, which shows a longitudinal section through the closed trunk in which the front panel and the braces are folded, shows that the door is of such dimensions as to allow it to be folded down onto the panel 5.
It will be understood that the door can also be inserted separately into the trunk and simply placed on the posts once the panel 5 has been erected.
The remaining free space in the trunk is reserved for the placement of the tent canvas, rope, sleepers, and possibly other items necessary for camping.
In order not to make the trunk too heavy, it can advantageously be made of a light material, such as triplex for example, the large walls of which will be reinforced by crossbars 15 (fig. 2) which will also have the advantage. to keep the actual tent floor at a certain height from the ground.
It goes without saying that the idea behind the present invention can find many other practical realizations, which can be presented under the most diverse aspects, according to whether they are to fulfill only a utilitarian aim or to serve at the same time. for decorative, artistic, and other purposes.
