 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

  Spoon for a planting wheel, in particular a spoon for a potato planter.

   The present invention relates to spoons for the introduction of the product, which is to be planted, in the buckets adapted to a planting wheel, in particular to a wheel of a potato planter. The object of the invention is to provide the spoons with a device by means of which a safe introduction of the product which is to be planted into the buckets of the planter becomes possible and faults are avoided, in the broadest sense. measurement, at crash.

   Planting wheels are known which, at their periphery, have received the shape of buckets, on one of the outer sides of which are claw-shaped pillows.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 which, during the rotation of the planting wheel, pass through a feeding chamber and which fill with a tuber. In a known embodiment, the planter spoons rub, in a certain position of the planting wheel, along an elastic finger which is to transport the tuber, from the spoon into the cup of the planter, through an opening in the side wall of this cup. But this elastic finger has often been a source of disturbance.

   Although it must cause lateral movement to introduce the product into the planter bucket, it acts mainly in the vertical direction and thus presses the tuber against the wall of the bucket. Under certain circumstances, the tubers may thus be pressed so firmly against the bottom of the spoon that they are retained there. It is only when the spring jumps back to its original position, after having widened to the greatest extent by elasticity, that the tuber is released and it rolls off the spoon, but it does not fall into the bucket, because the spoon has then reached approximately the vertical position. It falls sideways along the outer wall of the planting wheel. This results in a fault in terms of the plan.

   It might seem that this fault can be avoided simply by giving the bottom of the spoon a greater slant. But this measure has proved ineffective, because then, when the tuber is brought into the spoon, this tuber is only entrained between the spoon and the dividing wall with considerable friction and with bruises that occur regularly.

   The existing drawbacks are eliminated by the invention thanks to the fact that for each spoon, an ejector is provided which, in a determined position of the planting wheel, performs a movement inside the hollow of the spoon. the- @

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   tarai and thus empty this spoon. Contrary to what the known common spring produces, pressure from top to bottom is thus avoided on the product that is to be planted and it is not at all pressed into the spoon on its path from the chamber of feed until the moment of introduction into the planter bucket.

   It is only for the introduction of the product into the cup of the planter that a lateral movement is imparted to it by the ejector, a movement which is further accelerated by its natural movement due to gravity.

  The ejector here begins its movement when the side opening of the planter bucket is released, i.e. when the planting wheel has turned enough so that the corresponding bucket and the spoon are outside. from the side wall of the feed chamber. The ejectors can be constructed in various ways, but they are preferably constituted by a rocking lever which is pivotally mounted on the spoon and which, during the rotation of the planting wheel, is controlled desmodromically by a stopper. , which preferably takes the shape of a cam.

   For this purpose, the rocking lever can be connected to an oscillating elbow shaft whose elbow slides on the stopper or on the cam and causes the rocking lever to oscillate which, after the cam has been left, is returned by a spring with which it is engaged. The rocker lever can also be executed in different ways. It is thus, for example, that it can be constituted by a simple bar and that it can, with its oscillation shaft, take the form of a bell return. A bend can still be formed on the bar so that the product to be planted can be gripped over a greater width.

   Instead of being bent and in order to treat with the greatest care the product to be planted, the planting lever can have a widened part which is adapted to the hollow of the spoon and which sits in it. 'pressing against the inside of the hollow of the spoon serves at the same time as a stop

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 for the tilting lever, this enlarged part can also replace part of the hollow of the spoon. But in all these embodiments, it can happen that, in the position where the lever has swung outwards, parts of the product to be planted, or impurities, stick between the lever. tilting and the inner surface of the hollow of the spoon and that they prevent the return oscillation of this lever and block it for subsequent reception of the aforementioned product.

  In order to prevent this, according to the invention, there is furthermore provided on the rocking lever an enlarged part which extends in the plane of oscillation of this lever, which engages through a slot provided in the hollow of the spoon and which, when the spoon empties, covers the passage between the tilting lever and the interior surface of the hollow of the spoon and prevents the entry of the product that is to be planted or impurities. The two enlarged parts of the rocking lever which form an angle between them can be formed in one piece and thus be formed, by means of another covering, in the form of an angular body. The return spring is also not linked to a specific shape or arrangement.

   It can be wound in the form of a coil spring around the swing pin of the rocker lever and its ends can be connected to the rocker lever and the spoon handle.

  On the other hand, the return spring can also be constituted by a bar or be formed in another suitable way and be arranged in a corresponding way. It can also be enclosed in a dust-proof envelope and, for this purpose, be housed, for example, in a hollow of the handle of the spoon, so that it is sheltered between the inner wall of the handle. of the spoon and the outer wall of the corresponding planter cup.

   The present invention is represented, by way of example, by an embodiment shown in Figures 1 to 4 of the accompanying drawing. In this drawing, Figure 1 is a fragment of a planter wheel

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 and the feed chamber seen from the side, while Figures 2 to 4 are three different views on a larger scale of a spoon with the ejector.

   The planting wheel 1 is provided at its periphery with planter buckets 2 and planters 3, the buckets having at one of their lateral sides openings 4 in front of each of which is a spoon 5. During the rotation of the planting wheels 1, the spoons 5 sweep, in the known manner, a supply chamber 6, connected to the store, not shown, of the product to be planted and supplied by this store. The spoons 5 thus each collect a tuber, transport it upwards and lead it through the side opening 4 of the planter cup 2, at about the time when the planting wheel is in the position where the corresponding spoon forms an angle. 45 with the horizontal axis of the wheel.

   When the spoon has reached this position, the side opening 4 has also moved along the closing side wall 7 of the feed chamber 6.

   To guarantee a safe supply of the product, which is to be planted, through the opening 4, according to the invention each spoon 5 has been provided, for example with a rocking lever 8 connected to the shaft of 'ocoillation 9 which is mounted so as to be able to turn on the handle of the spoon. This shaft carries at its end a crank-shaped elbow 10, which slides on a cam 12 disposed at the point of supply of the product into the cup of the planter, for example on the closing wall 11 of the chamber. feed 6 and which, as a result, turns the shaft 9 and activates the rocking lever 8. The latter thus imparts a lateral movement to the product, which has to be planted and which is in the spoon 5, and carries it safely, through the opening 4, into the planter cup 2.

   After the cam 12 has been left, the rocking lever 8 is recalled by a spring 13 which is in%

 engaged with this lever and with the spoon 5. To grasp the product over a greater width when it is introduced into the planter bucket 2 and to spare it as well as possible, the rocking lever 8 has been provided with a enlarged part 14 which is adapted to the hollow 15 of the spoon and which, by pressing against the inner face of this hollow, serves at the same time as a stop for the rocking lever in the rest position. This rocking lever 8 has yet another enlarged part 16, extending approximately at right angles to the enlarged part 14 and forming a single piece therewith.

   In the rest position of the rocking lever, the widened part 16 engages through a slot 17 provided in the hollow 15 of the spoon and extending parallel to the rocking lever, this widened part 16 having the aim, in the position of folding out of the lever 8, to cover and protect, against the penetration of the product to be planted or of impurities, the passage which is thus formed between the lever and the interior surface of the hollow 15 of the spoon.

   As stated above, the present invention is not limited to the embodiment shown and described by way of example; it obviously embraces other embodiments conceived in the spirit of the object of this invention.
