<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
doigt.
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

DEVICE FOR DISTRIBUTING A LIQUID, FOR EXAMPLE MILK ', BY MEASURED QUANTITIES AND METHOD FOR IMPLEMENTING THIS DEVICE.
When dispensing a liquid, for example milk, in measured quantities, by means of an ordinary dispensing tap to which a meter is connected, in principle, when the tap is closed, there is a sudden ram which can, under certain circumstances, damage the sensitive meter. In addition, the precision of the measurement is not possible because, when closing, a certain quanti-

of liquid with delay, and that, as a result of the frequency of movements, there are leaks between the box and the valve key.
In order to eliminate these drawbacks, according to the present invention, the closure device has been arranged as a fast-closing valve with slow final movement. As a result, an apparatus has been made available, in particular to the dairy industries, which rapidly performs in a constantly exact manner and without damaging the sensitive meter, measurements and fills reaching hundreds per day.
Two embodiments of the present invention, with a view to filling the milk jugs are shown in the drawing in which:
FIG. 1 shows the overall installation of a distribution device with meter, in side elevation, according to one of the embodiments.
Figure 2 is a median vertical longitudinal section through the quick-closing valve.
Figure 3 is a cross section taken on the line III - III of Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a horizontal section along line IV - IV of Figure 2.
FIG. 5 is a median vertical longitudinal section through the valve, in the second embodiment of the dispensing device.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
FIG. 6 is a horizontal section along the line VI - VI of FIG. 5, and FIG. 7 shows the method of implementing this embodiment +
According to Figure 1, the usual meter 22 is connected to the distribution line 21. Downstream of this meter, in the direction of flow, is a valve 1 with rapid closing. The box of this valve contains, according to Figure 2, as shutter body, a rubber ball 4, which can also be replaced by a metal cone. The shutter body 4 is guided in a cylindrical cage 3 forming a single piece with the threaded cover 2 which seals off the box 1, the guidance being such that this shutter body cannot escape laterally.
The cage 3 in the region into which the inlet pipe 10 of the box 1 opens - the inlet pipe which is connected to the pipe 21 - has openings large enough so that the liquid which passes through them hardly experiences any strangulation. ' The shutter body 4 cooperates with a seat 11 below which is rotatably mounted a lifting finger 5 introduced through the outlet pipe 14. In the outlet pipe 14 is further mounted an elbow outlet tube 6 capable of 'oscillate and which, when put in place, mates with a mounting ring 16 of the finger 5 guided in a groove 19 of the outlet pipe 14. For this purpose the ring 16 offers claws 17 which penetrate into recesses 18 at the inner end of the outlet elbow.
The
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
outlet elbow 6 is held rotatably in the tubing 14 by a cap nut 7. This nut is secured in the portion given to it, by a stop device consisting of a spring 9 fixed to the box 1 valve and by facets 15 cooperating with this spring at the front end of the cap nut. The sealing of the oscillating elbow 6 relative to the pipe is ensured by sealing washers 8, placed between a flange 20 arranged on the elbow and the front surface of the pipe 14 on the one hand, and the internal surface of the bottom of the cap nut on the other hand.
In the flange 20 of the elbow is also fixed a cneville 12 which penetrates into an arcuate groove 13 of the pipe 14 and which, by meeting the end surfaces of this groove, limits the oscillation movement of the elbow, when one opens and closes the valve.
The lifting finger 5 has, in relation to the elbow 6, a shape and an adjustment such as its lifting curve, when starting from the position a (figure 1) of the elbow which corresponds to the closing of the valve, during the first movement of approximately 60 up to position b, just comes into contact with the obturator body 4. In the continuation of the movement, on the following 30, up to position c, it then rolls in, after a slow rise on a slightly rising part of the lift curve, rapid lift to the total stroke height, thanks to a strongly ascending part of the curve. At the end of the preparatory movement of 60 the opening of the outlet elbow is just inside the rim of the milk jug 23, into which it enters during the further oscillation movement.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
When closing the valve after dispensing the desired quantity of liquid, by backward oscillation of the outlet elbow 6 clockwise, a rapid closing of the valve occurs with slow final movement. in such a way that the supply shutdown takes place quickly but without water hammer.
In the embodiment of FIGS. 5 - 7 the rapid closing valve which follows the meter is not controlled by the oscillating movement of the outlet elbow which is mounted here to oscillate freely independently of the lifting finger of the counter. quick-closing valve, but by a special operating lever. In combination with this, the outlet leg of the elbow is not hooked in the oscillation plane but remains more or less straight. Thanks to this shape the outlet branch can automatically enter the neck of the pot with a relatively small oscillating movement, when the pot is pushed below in the direction of the oscillation plane, so that the manual movement can. be limited to the quick-closing valve.
The lifting finger 5 for the ball-shaped shutter body 4 of the quick-closing valve (shutter body loaded here by a slight spring 34) is connected by a plug coupling to a pin 24 which passes through the box in a press- packing 29 and which carries at its external end an operating lever 27, this coupling being formed by a flattening 25 of the internal end of the axle and a corresponding slot 26 of the hub of the shaft.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
finger. The movement of the lever 27 in both directions is limited by two stop pins 31.
The support ring 16 of the finger 5 is here smooth and it can rotate freely between a shoulder 30 on the internal face of the tubing 14 and the internal end of the outlet elbow 6 mounted in the tubing. The outlet elbow, with its straight outlet tube 6 'inserted in the free branch, is mounted in the tubing 14 in a not tight enough manner to be able to oscillate freely and thus return. constantly in the upright position when released, from any other position. This free mounting of the elbow is done, with an impeccable seal, using its flange 20 held so as to rotate freely between one cap nut 7 and a groove in the tubing 14, and with the aid of a sleeve rubber seal 33, V-shaped placed between the flange 20, the internal end of the elbow 6 and the walls of the groove 32 of the tubing.
This arrangement allows the following new operating mode which emerges from FIG. 7.
The milk jug 23 is brought in the direction of the arrow d from the right, on a roller slide through which the jugs travel with stops tight against each other, during their filling, until oscillating tube 6, 6 '(position I) and drives the tube in the position of the movement, so that this tube rests obliquely on the edge of the neck of the pot (position II), and finally, sliding from this edge, it falls into the pot, placing itself with an inclination of about 45 on the opposite region
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
from the edge (position III). Then the jar stops and the quick-closing valve 1 is opened by means of the operating lever 27. The milk flows smoothly against the conical surface 35 terminating at the neck of the jar, so that formation is avoided. of foam.
After interrupting the arrival of milk, which is interrupted by closing the valve 1 by means of the lever 27, as soon as the meter indicates the quantity to be dispensed, the filled milk jug is pushed back by the next empty jug. Under these conditions the oscillating tube which rises from the neck of the pot, falls from the edge of the neck to the edge of the neck of the empty pot, then into this neck, after which the outlet valve is opened again and so on.
With this device not only is the manual movement of the oscillating outlet tube avoided, but the oscillation of this tube is also relatively low. As a result, the service is notably facilitated and the filling operation is accelerated. The impact of the tube on the edge of the neck of the pot, when falling into this neck, gives the person operating the lever 27 a signal. clearly audible indicating to him that it is necessary to reverse the lever 27. In addition there occurs, after the valve has been closed, a residue-free emptying of the outlet tube and consequently an exact gauging.
