Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

   The present invention relates to a polisher of hardwood or other material and a holder of emery tape, divided in the profile, with an emery tape laid around it in the longitudinal direction, in particular under. the embodiments as an emery file and as an emery polishing plane. Devices of a similar type are known comprising a fixed voltage.

   The present invention differs from the known devices of this type mentioned by the following characteristics, for the enumeration of which will be treated first the shape similar to a file and then that similar to a plane.

   In the form similar to a file (emery file), the support of the emery tape consists of a divided profile piece, at one end of which a handle has been created. Before subdivision of the support timber or similar part into the / 1

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 part carrying the handle and the head part, two drilled holes are provided in the longitudinal direction. These drilled holes receive two guide rods for fixing the head part. This head piece moves on these rods and this only in the direction of its original one piece shape. In the internal surfaces of the two parts separated from each other of the support, there is arranged a compression spring not visible from the outside.

   For this purpose, the internal surfaces are provided with two drilled holes corresponding to the diameter of the spring and having a depth such that the two holes can contain the spring in the tensioned state. In the vicinity of the handle, a clamping device is provided. The clamping device consists of two clamping flanges bent at right angles. In one of these flanges, a screw has been riveted which clamps the other clamping plate drilled with a hole, by means of a wing nut, against the support of the emery strip. By means of this clamping device, the ends of the emery strip are clamped in two grooves arranged in the support of the strip against the pressure of the compression spring mounted in the support of the strip.

   The divided profile part is rounded at its front part, so that a firm fit of the emery strip on its support is obtained and a tension always acting uniformly, even when after continuous use of the file. emery, the emery strip has worn or stretched otherwise.

   If, when working with the emery board, there are particular resistances opposed to the movement of the work, the elastically mounted head piece, movable in the guides and separated from the rest of the tool may fail. The spring absorbs this pressure which, in the event of stiff tension, would lead to tearing or cutting and, as a result of the elasticity, prevents tearing. These very resistances are overcome by the abrasive coating of the emery strip.

   The emery board has no protruding parts outwards and can be used on both sides even at the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 front part rounded; it is therefore quite equivalent to a steel file.

   The drawing represents in fig. 1 and 2 an exemplary embodiment of the invention. The emery board consists of one, artie 1,2 carrying the handle and the mating part 6. This part 6 is rounded at the front and is placed with mobility on the guide rods 3 and 4 fixed in the bearing part. the handle. The parts 1, 2 and 6 are mounted elastically with respect to each other by means of the interposed spring 5 which is not visible from the outside. The emery strip 7 is fixed by means of the clamping device 8, 9 and 10 at its ends.

   The clamping plates 8 and engage by their folded parts in transverse grooves when these folded parts are clamped by means of the screw riveted in the plate 8 and the wing nut 10 The tension is produced under the pressure of the spring 5 interposed in the support of the emery tape so that an automatic subsequent tensioning of the emery tape is ensured and that on the other hand the emery tape can yield elastically.

   The mounting and guiding of the head part of the support in the part carrying the handle can also be done in such a way that this head part carries protrusions which are fitted in a notch of the part carrying the head, the spring being embedded between them. The clamping device can also be formed of two round or polygonal sheet metal plates which are set on both sides in suitable recesses of the part carrying the handle and are pressed onto the latter by means of a screw which holds it. crosspiece and a wing nut, so that the free ends of the emery tape, previously engaged under the sheet metal plates, are tight.

   In the form similar to a plane (polishing plane) which is shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the support of the ribbon, of emery is also formed of a large part 11 and a smaller part 12 of the same cross section, which is mounted so that it cannot be rotated in guides 13, the two parts being

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 elastically connected against the traction of the polishing tape by means of a spring 14 interposed between them. In this case, the holder for the emery tape does not have any special handle, but retaining grooves can be provided laterally. The large part of the holder for the emery tape is provided on the upper side with a d-shaped indentation 15. 'round trough, into which fits a correspondingly profiled pressure plate 16.

   This pressure plate is fixed to the support of the emery tape by means of a screw 17 and a nut 18. The polishing tape is wound around the tape holder and is inserted between the latter and the plate. pressure, the tape being pierced by the screw which is used to fix the pressure plate. It is stretched in this way against the tradition of the spring.

   The polishing tape can then have its ends joined together and be placed around the backing like a tape. unending. The polishing tape can then be turned over after wear of the first worn lower part, so that the not yet worn places come to be placed on the lower side.

  This operation can be repeated several times in certain circumstances.
