<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"SOUND REPRODUCTION DEVICE"
The present invention relates to a sound reproduction disc changer in which a spindle subjected to a reciprocating movement abuts, at the end of one of its strokes, against a movable stop, so as to cause a pivoting of the needle holder around a vertical axis rowing the needle from the center of the disc played outside the space swept by a disc to be played falling flat on the disc which has just been played and, at the end of the disc, 'other race ,. against a second movable stop, so as to cause a pivoting of the needle holder bringing the needle above the first groove of the new disc which has fallen into place.
It aims to make it easy to. have the device play discs. of different diameters.
To this end, in the apparatus according to the invention, the two aforesaid movable stops are of adjustable position, so as to allow the amplification of each stroke of the needle holder to be adjusted exactly.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
According to an advantageous embodiment, the aforementioned second movable stop comprises a retractable part which can be brought outside the path followed by the aforesaid spindle so as to allow the amplitude of the pivoting to be varied, from the needle holder towards the first groove depending on the diameter of the discs.
In particular, the aforementioned second movable stopper is mounted on a plate fixed in rotation to the support of the needle holder and has a retractable parrie whose width corresponds to the difference in amplitude of the pivoting of the holder. needle to reach the first groove of two discs of different diameters, said retractable part being able to be brought outside the path followed by the reciprocating spindle.
The aforementioned retractable part is advantageously constituted by a pivoting lever which can be moved away from the path followed by the spindle in front of another part of the aforesaid second movable stop.
Other features and details of the invention will become apparent from the description of the drawings appended hereto, and which schematically represent an embodiment of an apparatus according to the invention.
Figure 1 is a plan view of part of the apparatus comprising the object of the invention.
Figure 2 is a vertical section along the line II-II of Figure 1.
In these. different figures, the same reference notations designate identical elements.
The part shown dtun disc changer according to the invention comprises a spindle 74 carried by a

disc by means of any suitable mechanism which does not form part of the invention and which, for this reason, has not been shown in order not to unnecessarily clutter the drawings.
The spindle 74 passes through a groove 100 of a plate 20. At the end of its travel in the direction of the arrow V, the spindle 74 abuts against a movable stop 75 constituted by a screw screwed into a plate. 124. The position of the end of the screw 75 relative to the plate 124 can therefore be adjusted minutely so as to precisely determine the amplitude of the movement of this plate in the direction of arrow V.
The plate 124 is integral with a washer 17 which can pivot about a vertical axis in a plate 20. It also carries a circular base 16 integral with the U-shaped support 15 carrying a pivot 14 on which the needle holder arm 13 has climbed. The base 16 is provided with two circular notches 18 in each of which passes a screw 19 serving to immobilize the base 16 with respect to the washer 17 in the desired position during assembly or adjustment of the apparatus. The displacement of the arm 13 corresponding to the movement of the plate in the direction of the arrow V has the effect of bringing the needle back from the center of a disc played out to the space swept by a disc to be played which falls. on the disc that has just been played.
This movement of the needle holder arm 13 is, t preceded by the lifting of this arm under the action of an arm 23 wedged on a rod 22. The latter is mounted on a horizontal pivot 21 and is secured to a plate 24 which, at the desired moment, is caused to tilt in the direction corresponding to the lifting of the arm, under the effect of a mechanism which does not form part of the invention and which has not either been shown
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
After completing its travel in the direction of arrow V, the spindle 74 moves in the opposite direction.
At this moment, it leaves the plate 124 in place and this until the moment when it comes to occupy the position in which it is represented and for which it abuts against a second movable stop integral with the plate 124. This second movable stop comprises a retractable part which can be brought outside the path followed by the spindle 74. This retractable part has a width which corresponds to the difference in amplitude of the pivoting of the needle holder to reach the first groove of two discs of different diameters.
It consists of a lever 101 pivoting around a horizontal pivot 102 relative to the plate 124. This lever carries a heel 103 against which the pin 74 abuts when the lever 101 is in the position shown. This corresponds to a playing disc of a smaller diameter than that of the discs used when the retractable part is outside the path followed by the spindle 74. This smaller diameter is, for example, 25 centimeters instead of 30 centimeters for a certain category of discs. It is indicated on a plate 104 arranged so that the inscription which it carries can be read when it is in the position corresponding to the pivoting of the needle holder 13 bringing the needle up to the top. of the first silLon of a disc 25 centimeters in diameter.
When the lever 101 is out of the path followed by the spindle 74, the latter continues its movement in the opposite direction of the arrow V without driving the plate 124 and the needle-holder arm 13 and this until it meets. a screw 76 of adjustable position relative to the plate 124. The position of this screw is determined so as to bring the needle-holder arm above the first groove of a disc of larger diameter than that in question.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
derated in the first place, for example, from a disc 30 centimeters in diameter.
It is obvious that the invention is not exclusively limited to the embodiment shown and that many modifications can be made in the form, the. arrangement and constitution of some of the elements involved in the realization of the invention, without falling outside the scope of the present patent, provided that these nidifications are not in contradiction with the object of each of the following claims.
