<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>

Installation of gas turbines.
The present invention relates to a gas turbine installation in which a motive medium is first compressed in a circuit, then reheated in a heat exchanger heated by combustion gases, and then expanded in a turbine actuating. the compressor, installation in which, in addition, part of the motive agent is taken from the circuit and is brought to the heat exchanger as combustion air; the combustion gases leaving this exchanger to get to a turbine supplying the useful power.
Therefore, motive medium is taken in two forms from the gas heater established as a heat exchanger:
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
on the one hand, the motive agent heated by heat exchange and which actuates the compressor turbine, and on the other hand, the motive agent heated directly by the combustion and which supplies the turbine with useful power, in the form of combustion gas. In order to be able to maintain regular operation, it is necessary that the operation of the two turbines, and therefore also the state of the two driving agents, can be regulated individually, independently of one another.
This condition is achieved by the present invention in that the part of the circuit situated between the compressor and the heat exchanger is connected by an adjustable pipe to the part of the circuit situated between the heat exchanger and the heat exchanger. the compressor turbine. By virtue of this adjustable pipe, a greater or lesser part of the motive medium circulating in the circuit can be diverted away from the heat exchange surfaces of the gas heater, so that the quantity of heat transmitted by one driving agent to another, can be regulated at will. It is thus possible to maintain at the desired value and separately from one another, on the one hand the temperature of the combustion gases flowing towards the turbine at useful power, and on the other hand the temperature of the combustion gas. the air flowing through the compressor turbine.
A certain simplification of the installation can be achieved if the device for adjusting the pipe joining the two circuit parts is not opened until the temperature of the motive medium entering the compressor turbine exceeds a limit value greater than the normal operating temperature of this turbine.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Fig. 1 represents an installation of gas turbines according to the invention.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Fig. 2 shows details of the device for adjusting the installation according to FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 shows an adjustment device based on other considerations.
The low pressure compressor 1 (fig. 1) sucks air in line 3 and delivers it through the intercooler 3 into the high pressure compressor 4. The compressed air comes in through the tubes 5 of the heat exchanger 6 in line 7. Part of the heated air flows through the space surrounding the tubes 8 of the air heater 9, and through line 10, into the turbine 11.
After expansion, the air returns to the compressor 1, passing through the space surrounding the tubes 5 of the heat exchanger 6, through the cooler 12 and the pipe 2.
Part of the air is taken from line 7 through line 13 and is fed to the burner 14 of the air heater 9. The combustion gases pass through the tubes 8 of the air heater and arrive in the turbine. useful power 16. To replace the part of air taken from the air circuit, air is supplied to this circuit by the compressor 17. This replacement air arrives in the circuit at an intermediate point. heat exchanger 6 and immediately relinquishes part of its heat of compression to the circulating air in a useful manner.
Strictly speaking, there is no closed circuit, in that a certain quantity of motive agent is constantly withdrawn from the installation and a replacement quantity is introduced in its place.
The air turbine 11 and the compressors 1, 4 and 17 have a common shaft and have dimensions such that the power of the turbine is equal to the power required to control the compressors. Turbine 16 powered
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
by the combustion gases actuates, via the gear 18, a propeller 19.
To regulate the temperature of the air flowing through the turbine 11, a bypass line 20 is provided, through which a part of the unheated air is diverted around the air heater 9 and is mixed with the air. point 21 with the air already heated. In order to regulate the amount of air thus diverted, an adjusting member 22 is provided, which is so controlled by the pulse line 23 and by the temperature sensitive member 24 as a function of the temperature. of mixing resulting in point 21, that the temperature fluctuations of the air flowing to the turbine 11 are at least reduced.
The quantity of replacement air supplied to the air circuit and the quantity of fuel supplied to the air heater 9 can be adjusted according to the load conditions which present themselves at any given moment, on the one hand to using the passage member 25, and on the other hand using the adjusting member 26 arranged in the fuel pipe 27. By adjusting the quantity of replacement air, the level of pressure, or the degree of load of the air circuit, is adapted to the load of the useful power turbine 16. The quantity of fuel is then adjusted according to the degree of load.
The adjustment device 22-24 can be designed in such a way that it only allows the bypass of air around the air heater 9 when a temperature limit above the normal operating temperature is exceeded. .
The air flowing in line 10 (Figs. 1 and 2) licks the temperature sensitive member 24 (Fig. 2) which is established as a container partially filled with a liquid. Depending on the temperature, which changes, of the air flowing through the pipe 10, the liquid is at a pres-
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
more or less high vaporization rate. Depending on the variations in the vaporization pressure, the elastic capsule to. membrane 28 expands more or less in the direction of the double arrow 29.
The expansion movements of the capsule 28 are transmitted to the drawer 32 by the lever 30 and the linkage 31.
The lever 30 is still connected to the trim 33 of a liquid catalytic converter 34 acting as a loose return. The cataract is connected by the rod 35 to the piston 36 of the servomotor 37, and by the rod 38 to the valve 39 of the adjustment member 22 mounted in the pipe 20.
Any increase in the temperature of the air at point 21 of the pipe 10 results in an increase in the pressure in the capsule 28, so that the lever 30, at its articulation 40, the linkage 31, and the spool 32 are moved in the positive direction of the double arrows 29 and 41.
Liquid under pressure from line 43 enters through line 44 under piston 36, which is moved in the positive direction of double arrow 45. Liquid discharged from the upper face of piston 36 can flow through line 46.
The valve 39 of the adjuster 22 is moved in the positive direction of the double arrow 45 by the piston 36 of the servo motor. The passage section of the regulator is increased and, by supplying a larger by-pass quantity, the mixing temperature at point 21 of line 10 is lowered and returned to the desired value.
In the adjustment process described, the lever 30 is first moved by the cataract 34 in the positive direction of the double arrow 49 around its point of release 47 in antagonism to the action of the spring 48, so that the displacement of the distribution spool 32 which triggers the adjustment process is carried out again in reverse order.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
As the piston 36 of the engine clamp and the return linkage 33 are loosely connected to each other by the cataract, the adjustment process does not return to rest until the springs 48 and 50 are balanced. and that the dispensing drawer 32 closes both the pipe 44 and the pipe 46. Such a position is however only possible for one and the same nominal temperature set once and for all.
The adjustment device thus operates isothermally, it always brings the temperature back to the same adjustment value.
If the mixture temperature drops to point 21, a similar adjustment process is established, but with reverse adjustment movements. The passage section of the regulating member 22 is reduced, and as a result, the mixing temperature is raised to its original nominal value.
Fig. 3 shows an adjustment device by which only temporarily (in the event of a change in the load, in particular when it decreases) is established a bypass of unheated air around the heater. A temperature-sensitive member 24 and, in addition, a pressure gauge 51 are further influenced by the air in the line 10. The capsule 28 of the member 24 moves the cam 52 in the direction of the double arrow. 53 around the fixed point of rotation 54.
The T-lever 56 pivoting around the fixed point 55 is supported by the spring 5?, Through its roller 58, against the curved face of the cam52. The articulation 59 of the T-lever acts on the distribution spool 32 via the linkage 60, the lever 61 and the linkage 31. The piston 36 of the servomotor 37 adjusts by means of the rod 38, the valve 39 of the regulator 22 in
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
the bypass line 20.
At point 62 of the T-lever 56 is articulated the lever 63 which is connected on the one hand by the articulation 64 to the manometric device 51, and, on the other hand, by the articulation 65 to the valve 66 of the valve. 'fuel regulator 26.
If the mixture temperature rises at point 21 of line 10, capsule 28 expands in the positive direction of double arrow 29 and moves cam 52 in the positive direction of arrow 53. As a result, the T-lever 56 moves in the positive direction of arrow 67, and linkage 60 moves in the positive direction of arrow 68. If linkage 60 makes contact at point 69 with lever 61, spool 32 is lifted by linkage 31. From line 43, pressurized agent passes through line 44 into servo motor 37 and moves piston 38 and valve 39 in the positive direction of arrow 45. In this way , the passage section of the adjustment member 22 is increased.
Simultaneously the lever 61 is moved, around its articulation 47 in the positive direction of the arrow 45, so that the articulation point 70, the linkage 31 and the spool 32 are moved in the negative direction of the arrow 41 and that 'thus the adjustment process is brought back to the starting point.
The initial increase in temperature. The mixing temperature at point 21, which has caused the adjustment process, is canceled by the increased quantity of unheated air, which is brought through line 20 to the quantity of heated air, and the temperature is reduced. in the normal nominal range
While the adjustment process described above is carried out, the joint 62 moves the lever 63 in
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
the positive direction of the double arrow 71, so that the joint 65, the lever 63 and the valve 66 of the fuel adjuster 26 are moved in the negative direction of the arrow 73. As a result, the quantity of fuel supplied via line 27 to the burner of the air heater is also reduced.
Raising the mixing temperature at point 21 in line 10 thus not only causes an increased quantity of cold air to enter through line 20 into line 10, but at the same time also decreases the flow of fuel to the burner. of the air heater.
The manometric device 51 has a piston
73 which, by the pressure in line 10, pushes the spring 75 more or less in the direction of the double arrow 74. When the air pressure increases, the articulation 64 of the lever 63 is moved in the positive direction 74 and hence the valve 66 is moved in the positive direction of the arrow 72. The passage section of the fuel regulator 26 is thereby increased and an increased quantity of fuel. is fed to the air heater burner.
As the air pressure decreases in line 10, valve 66 is moved in the negative direction of arrow 72 and thus the amount of fuel supplied to the air heater is decreased. The regulator 22 placed in the bypass pipe 20 cannot be influenced by the manometric device 51.
The clearance between the point 69 of the lever 61 and the linkage 60 is chosen, in relation to the conformation of the cam 52, and the influence of the pressure and the temperature on the fuel adjustment member 26, so such that the valve 39 of the regulating member 22 only opens when an increase in temperature, as a result of the heat accumulated in the exchange surfaces, cannot be
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
prevented by a decrease in the amount of fuel.
As soon as the influence of the accumulated heat is removed, the valve 39 closes again.
The invention is also applicable when a gas other than air is heated in the heat exchanger. It remains important that the bypass (The cold driving agent of the heat vehicle is done at low temperature.
