Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

  "Rotary tube furnace masonry lining".

   In rotary cement kilns, it is observed, in particular when an internal coating of very basic material is used, for example bricks of pure magnesite, than when cements with a high lime or lime content are fired. silicic acid, the protective crust desired to protect the masonry lining does not form or does not form to a sufficient extent on the interior surface of the masonry lining, so that too rapid wear of the same. oi can occur.

   Surprisingly, tests have shown that this disadvantage can be overcome when the masonry lining of the rotary kiln, consisting of basic bricks, is coated on the. inner surface of a layer of chamotte magnesite mortar - iron particles - water glass.

   Advantageously, a mortar of this type of the following composition is used: About 50% powdered magnesite, about 0 to 1.7 m / m.

   About 25% iron shavings up to about 2 m / m /
About 25% chamotte powder, about 0 to 1.7 m / m and glass-soluble solution.

   The layer thickness reaches approximately 3 to 5 m / m on a new interior coating. The protective layer according to the invention can also be used on old, coating, even when bursts or cracks have already occurred; in this case, it is advantageously available in the crcux resulting from the bursts, to fill them, of! fragments of bricks

 magnesite or iron shavings, and then the protective layer is placed.

   On the protective layer according to the invention the desired crust is formed, with a thickness of about 50 to 100 m / m, protecting the coating, by the protective layer, and in particular together with the crust which forms. form on it, adequate thermal insulation is obtained and also, thus, a considerable prolongation of the durability of the interior lining. The mentioned protective mortar is. fired in such a way that it forms a firm bond with the bricks. In particular, by virtue of its flux content, it also causes the fixing and adhesion of the protective crust.

   CLAIMS.

     1.- Masonry lining of a rotary tubular furnace, characterized in that it consists of a very basic interior lining (magnesite bricks), the interior surface of which is coated with a layer of magnesite mortar - chamotte - particle ^ of iron - water glass.
