<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"Device for preventing drafts under doors".
Devices are known serving to prevent drafts under the doors, consisting of beads fixed by means of nails along the lower edge of the door, so as to rub against the floor when opening the door. .
These devices have the drawback of wearing out quickly and giving rise to excessive friction, especially when they are wet and they reach a slightly raised part of the ground.
The present invention relates to un.dispositif which does not have these drawbacks.
For this purpose, the device according to the invention is mounted on the door so as to be able to rise when it encounters a roughness during the movement of the door and to be able to lower itself when it has exceeded this roughness.
According to one embodiment, it is mounted with play on the door so as to be able to move freely while being guided vertically.
Preferably, its lower part is made of a material which can be easily cut so that its lower face can be adapted to the surface of the floor which it covers when the door is closed.

Other features and details of the invention will become apparent from the description of the drawings appended hereto, which schematically represent, by way of example only, some embodiments of a device according to the invention.
Figure 1 is an elevational view of a door provided with a device according to the invention.
FIG. 2 represents, on a larger scale, the lower part of the door according to FIG. 1 and, in section, the part of the floor below the device according to the invention.
FIG. 3 is, on a still larger scale, a transverse vertical section in the device according to the invention and in the lower part of the door.
FIG. 4 is a horizontal section in the lower part of a door provided with another variant of the device according to the invention.
Figures 5 and 6 show in transverse vertical section two other variants of a device according to the invention fitted to the lower part of a door.
In these different figures, the same reference notations designate identical elements.
In Figures 1 to 3, a door 2 is shown, the lower part of which is provided with a device according to the invention 3. This device comprises a slat 4, of wood for example, in which vertical grooves 5 are formed in which pass broohes formed by the rod 6 of screws 7 engaged in the door 2. A washer 8 is interposed between the head 9 of the screws and the slat 4. The latter therefore accompanies the door in its horizontal movements in the direction of the arrow X. However, a slight clearance remains at 10 between the slat and the door, so that the slat 4 can slide vertically while being guided by the rod 6. In the slat 4, a squeegee 11 is inserted resting on the floor 12. This squeegee is made of rubber, for example.
In any case, it must be able to be notched easily, so that its lower faee can be adapted to the surface of the ground which it covers when the door is closed.
In Figure 2, we see that the upper part of the floor is formed by tiles 13, one of which protrudes slightly from the others. The squeegee 11 is notched so as to rest by its entire underside on the ground when it is above this tile.
If, during the opening of the door, the squeegee 11 encounters a roughness, it is easily lifted by being guided by the rod 6 of the screws 7.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In Figure 4, there is shown another embodiment of the device according to the invention in which the opposite ends of the slat 4 are engaged in two fittings 14 fixed to the door 2 by means of screws. The distance between the wing 15 of these fittings and the door is a little greater than the thickness of the slat 4, so as to allow the latter to slide vertically if necessary.
In Figure 5, we see a device in which the squeegee 11 can slide vertically in the curved part 16 of a fitting 17 fixed by means of screws 18 to the door 2.
In the various preceding embodiments, the descent of the device according to the invention is ensured by gravity only. It goes without saying that this descent could be facilitated by the action of a light spring.
In Figure 6, there is shown another variant of the device according to the invention according to which a fitting 19 in which the squeegee 11 is crimped has a very flexible part 20 which is slightly deformed during assembly of the device, so as to hold the squeegee. 11 against the ground 12.
It is obvious that the invention is not exclusively limited to the embodiments shown and that many modifications can be made in the form, the arrangement and the constitution of some of the elements involved in its realization, provided that these modifications do not not contradict the purpose of each of the following claims.
CLAIMS. l.- Device serving to prevent drafts under the doors, characterized in that it is mounted on the door so that it can be lifted when it encounters a roughness during the movement of the door and to be able to lower himself when he has passed this roughness.
