PATENT OF INVENTION Louis Adolphe SAPIN Device for fixing glass plates without mastic.

The present invention relates to improvements to glazing of the kind used without mastic.

Practice has shown that the mastic deteriorates rapidly, first presenting cracks - which allow water to pass through and then, as a result of bad weather, detach and finally fall off.

The invention relates to the installation of glass plates without the need for mastic while allowing free expansion of the various panes and perfect sealing.

One of the characteristics of the invention resides in that the lateral edges of the plates are held between two layers of felt, one of which is in direct contact with a profile (the frame (metal or wood), while the other layer is surmounted by a metal joint cover on which pressure is applied by suitable means.

In the accompanying drawing is shown, by way of example, an embodiment of the present invention.

Fig. 1 gives in perspective the installation and the fixing of two glass plates arranged in the same plane.

Fig. 3 shows in section along I-I of FIG. ', the fixing of assembled panes at the location of the recovery.

Fig. is a partial section through a window showing the attachment of a hook to hold a ladder for example ,.

.Next. the embodiment shown in the drawing, FIG. 1 gives, in perspective, the installation and fixing of two glass plates on a profile 1 preferably U-shaped, constituting the frame of the glass roof, greenhouse or the like. This frame is preferably drawn iron, but can also come in wood for example.

The profile 1 is provided with holes in which a bolt 3 engages, preferably in bronze or other stainless material, possibly in galvanized iron, clamped on the web of the profile 1 by a nut 4 pressing on. a lead washer 5 intended to seal the holes 2.

The ends of the wings 6-6 'of the profile are provided with felts 7-7' on which are placed glass plates 8-8 '; the latter are kept away from the bolts 3, so u allow expansion of said glass plates.
