Ceci a plusieurs avantages.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

"Improvements to the device for covering the head of a rotating element provided with a key or fixing bolt".
The present invention relates to a device for covering the head of a rotary element provided with a key or a fixing bolt, more especially the head of a bicycle crankset fixed to its axis by a key. Ordinarily, the aforesaid device comprises, in addition to a yoke including the head and the key or the bolt, a leaf spring interposed between the head and the internal wall of the yoke and intended to prevent the head from rubbing against the yoke. . In known constructions the spring is rigidly fixed to the yoke and frictionally bears on the head, but in the present invention the conditions are reversed.
This has several advantages. It should be noted that the head of the bottom bracket or other rotating element has a dimension more
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
small and less regular in shape than the yoke, so the clamping of the spring on the head of the rotating element is not as reliable as the clamping of the spring on the yoke,
The leaf of the spring is preferably fixed to the head by means of the key or the bolt, which eliminates the need for additional fixing means. In the case of the present invention, the leaf of the spring may be provided with an opening capable of engaging with the end of the key or bolt opposite to that where the leaf is attached.
The accompanying drawing shows, in the form of example only, a device produced according to the invention, Figure 1, showing a front elevational view with part of the screed cut away, and Figure 2 a side elevational view with the axis cut transversely.
The number 1 indicates a bicycle crankset, 3 one has been adapted on it, 4 the axis on which the aforesaid head is fixed by means of a key 5 and a nut 6. The latter is also used to fix an appropriately curved leaf spring 7 on the head 3 of the crankset. The aforesaid blade has an opening which engages with a little play on the end of the key 5 opposite the nut 6. The free ends of the spring are turned upwards and are supported by friction on the internal wall of the spring. the yoke 2 to keep it in a suitable position on the head of the crankset.
In this position the spring is protected from any lateral inward displacement by teeth 8 placed on the edge of the yoke and bent at right angles inwards so as to rest on the lateral edge of the spring.
