 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

   Les caractéristiques et avantages de l'invention ressortiront d'ailleurs de la description qui va suivre de divers modes de réalisation de l'invention choisis à titre   d'exemple,   en référence aux dessins annexés, dans lesquels: 'la figure   1   est une vue en c oup e longitudinale de la pomper la figure 2 est une coupe transversale suivant la ligne   11-11   de la   figure   1 ; la figure 3   est   une coupe partielle suivant la ligne   III-III   de la figure 1 ; la figure 4 est une autre coupe partielle suivant la ligne IV-IV de la figure 1 ; la figure 5 est une coupe transversale d'une Variante de réalisation; la figure 6 est une coupe suivant la ligne VI-VI de la figure 5;

   la figure 7 représente un autre mode de réalisation en coupe longitudinale suivant la ligne VII-VII de la figure 8; la figure 8 est une coupe transversale suivant la ligne   VIII-VIII   de la figure 7; la figure 9 représente un autre mode de réalisation en coupe longitudinale suivant 1a ligne IX-IX de la figure 10; la figure 10 est une coupe transversale suivant la ligne X-X de la figure 9; la figure 11 représente un autre 'mode de réalisa- tion-en coupe longitudinale suivant la ligne XI-XI de la figure   12;   la figure 12 est une coupe suivant la ligne XII-XII de la figure 11; la figure l3représente un autre mode de réalisa- tion an coupe longitudinale suivant la,ligne XIII-XIII de la figure 14 ;

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 la figure 14 estune coupe transversale suivant la ligne   XIV-XIV   de la figure 13;

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 7>

 'soudéou ajusté de   façon/usuelle   quelconque,

 <Desc/Clms Page number 8>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 9>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 10>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 11>

     -- Dans les applications nombreuses de l'appareil, la disposition en étoile des cylindres constituant le bloc moteur parait idéale pour'la construction d'une roue motri- ce. En effet, celle-ci peut être montée, soit dans une jante avec ou sans bandages pneumatiques, figures 13 et 14, soit dans une roue dentée pour commande de pignons ou crémaillè- res, ou bien le fond des cylindres est muni de crampons, par exemple pour des tracteurs, figures 15 et 16 ou bien d'aubages nécessaires pour la navigation ou par des pales d'hélices en usage dans l'aviation.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 12>

   In a particular embodiment, the apparatus comprises a double piston driven in a double cylinder forming the body of the pump either by interrupted toothed pinion and racks or by roller mounted on a connecting rod. The pump body is fixed to a rotating element forming both a flywheel and a drive pulley.

   The pump thus produced does not have any seal or valve, which simplifies its construction and facilitates its assembly and disassembly. It is reversible, that is to say that by reversing the direction of rotation of the flywheel one obtains the reversal of the suction and the discharge or vice versa.

  It can therefore also function as a motor actuated by pressurized fluid, by reversing its supply or the direction of its rotation.

   According to another embodiment, the rotor comprises two pump bodies offset by 90 on the axis of rotation and of different diameters, the discharge of one feeding the suction of the other, the two pump bodies rotating integrally. around the fixed axis.

   Two-stage expansion or compression is thus achieved.

   According to another embodiment, cylinders in number greater than or equal to three are mounted in a star pattern on a housing containing the lubricating oil and enclosing the piston control mechanism.

   This arrangement ensures the continuity of the group's action and a better balance of reactions around the axis of rotation.

   The wheel carrying the pump cylinders can act as both a drive wheel and a flywheel.

  It may also be a vehicle wheel, more especially a tractor wheel, or a blade or paddle wheel.

   According to the embodiment des'figures 1 to 4, the pump consists essentially of a cylinder 1 in which a double piston 2 moves. Inside the piston is provided a double rack 3-31. On the cylinder is mounted a lateral pipe 4 communicating with the cylinder 1 at its two ends.

   The two bottoms of cylinder 1 are locked, by means of screws 5, on the ends of arm 6 of T-shaped section; these taras 6 are connected to a circular element 7. This part 7 forms a pulley for driving the pump. The assembly 6-7 constitutes a driving wheel.

   The pump 1-2 and the flywheel 6-7 are mounted on a fixed tubular shaft 8 mounted on two supports 9 and 10. This tubular shaft is used for suction through its straight end 11 (fig. 1) having a threaded part. to receive a suitable fitting. It is also used for delivery through its left end 12, also provided with a threaded part receiving the necessary connection.

   The axis 8 has towards its middle, at the place where it passes through the cylinder 1, a conical portion 13 and in particular two cohic bearing surfaces 14 and 15. A ball stop 16 ensures the setting of the rotary cylinder on these bearing surfaces. 14 and 15. On part 13 is provided an interrupted gear 17.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

   Axis 8 has two opposite openings, one 18 above, the other 19 below, close to the tube ¯4 (fig. 3). Between the two openings 18 and 19 is disposed inside the tubular shaft 8 an oblique partition 20. Due to the presence of this partition, the opening 19 and consequently the tubing 4 when it passes through- This opening communicates with the suction of the pump (end 11). Likewise, the opening 18 is in communication with the discharge (end 12) and connects the latter to the pipe 4 when it passes in front of 18.

   The flywheel-pulley 7 can be supported, in addition to the opposite arms 6, by accessory arms such as 22 in any number (fig. 4). The setting of the ball stop 16 can be ensured by adjusting screws 21 screwed on the T-shaped edge of the arms 6.

   The entire pump is rotated by the pulley flywheel 7 in the direction of the arrow (fig. 2).

  During this rotation on the fixed axis 8, the toothing 31 meshes with the toothing 17 fixed on the axis 8. The piston 2 moves in the cylinder in one direction. When o is the second toothing .3, ¯ which comes into contact with the interrupted toothing 17, the piston moves in the other direction. Successive suction and discharge phases are thus created at both ends of cylinder 1. These ends being in communication with the tubes 4, when these come in front of the openings 18 and 19 of the shaft 8, the suction and the discharge take place as shown schematically by the arrows (fig. 1).

   This result is obtained without special members such as valves and by the presence of the partition 20 which separates the inlet from the discharge in the fixed tubular shaft.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

   The partition 20 is shaped, as indicated in FIG. 3 in such a way that the communication of the pipes 4 with the two parts of the hollow shaft 8 is ensured until the pistons are at the end of their strokes and at this moment all communication is closed between suction and discharge.

   By reversing the direction of rotation, one obtains the reversal of the suction and the discharge, A similar result could be obtained by keeping the pump body fixed and by rotating the axis 8.

   An alternative embodiment is shown in Figures 5 and 6. In this one finds the pump body 1 and the double piston 2 mounted on the fixed hollow shaft 8, the suction and the discharge being separated by the oblique partition. 20. The drive of the piston 2, instead of being ensured by the racks 3.31 and the toothed pinion 17, is produced by a roller 21 mounted on the connecting rod 22 integral with the shaft 8. and fixed.

   Inside the piston 2 are grooves 23 in which the roller 21 slides, when the assembly 1-2, driven by the flywheel-pulley 6-7, turns around the axis (or vice versa ) the fixed roller 21 ensures the reciprocating movement of the piston 2. The latter acting in combination with the side pipe 4 and with the hollow pin 8 successively caused by the two faces of the piston 2 the suction. tion and delivery, as indicated previously, these operations can also be reversed if the direction of rotation is changed.

   To increase the total stroke of the piston it suffices to increase the distance of the axis of the roller 21 relative to the axis of the axis 8, for this purpose it is possible to provide in the middle of the cylinder 1 a recess 25 of suitable depth. - ble allowing the passage of said roller 21. In this embodiment, the cylinder 1 is supplemented by a screwed element 26,

 <Desc / Clms Page number 7>

 '' welded or adjusted in any usual way,
With the arrangements described, it can be seen that the pump operates without a valve, and does not require any seal, which simplifies its construction, assembly and disassembly.

   According to a variant shown in Figures 7 and 8, a pump body 1 similar to that of Figures 1 or 5 is mounted on an axis 8 and is held inside a rotary member 33 forming both a flywheel and drive pulley by means of four adjustable pressure screws 34 by means of nuts 35, These screws are housed in the tubular parts 36 formed in the frame of the flywheel 33 and arranged in the transverse and longitudinal axis of the pump. These screws are held by, through a lug 37 which penetrates a slot 38 made in the screw to prevent the screw from turning while sliding it inside the tubular part of the flywheel.

   This assembly while simplifying the construction of the flywheel makes it possible to reduce the length of the axis 8 which rested as before on the supports 9 and 10 arranged on each side of the flywheel.

   The above description relates to a pump with a single pump body. It is obvious that the arrangement according to the invention can be applied to multi-cylinder pumps. It is in fact possible to use two twin and parallel pump bodies mounted on the same axis, with a common suction and discharge pipe.

   According to one embodiment shown in a simplified manner by Figures 9 and 10 the rotor comprises two pump bodies 39 and 40 of different diameters and arranged at 90. Each body. Is mounted on a respective axis element 41 and 42 which are made integral by means of a. threaded ring 43.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 8>

   Each of these elements is provided with a partition (41a and 42a) similar to the partition 20 of Figures 1 and 3 and the two elements cooperate so that the discharge of one pump feeds the suction of the other.

   Each pump body is held fixed by means of four adjustable pressure screws 34, identical to those shown in figure 7. These screws are housed inside two discs: 44 for the pump body 39, and 45 for the body. pump 40, the screws slide inside these two discs by means of a lug 37 housed in a slot 38 made on each disc. These discs are arranged and carried on either side of a drive wheel 46 by means of rods 47 threaded at one end to receive a nut 48 in order to keep the spacing between the discs rigid and adjustable. 44 and 45.

   According to another embodiment represented by FIGS. 11 and 12, the pump comprises four cylinders, namely two opposite displacements 50 and two equally opposed cylinders 51 of larger diameter, mounted in a star pattern on a housing 52 containing the oil of lubrication and the control mechanism of the pistons which is constituted by a heart-shaped cam 53 made integral by a key
54 of the fixed hollow axis going from the suction port 55 to the discharge port 56 the roles of these orifices being able to be reversed). Connecting rods 57,58 resting by rollers such as 59 on the cam 53 respectively actuate the pistons 62 and 63 and the opposite connecting rods are joined together by forks 60,61 sliding on the axis
55-56.

   The lateral pipes of the cylinders 50 are connected in a sealed manner with their extensions

 <Desc / Clms Page number 9>

64 on the exterior face of the casing 52 and communicate at the desired time with distribution orifices drilled on the hollow shaft and separated by an oblique partition 65.

   Similar pipes visible in the drawings start from the cylinders. , 51 to end in similar distribution orifices separated by an oblique partition
66.

   The pair of cylinders 50 works in series with the pair of cylinders 51, the pair of small displacement cylinders 50 providing for example one. first expansion and the pair of cylinders 51 of larger displacement providing the second expansion, or vice versa for compression.

   It is clear that the two groups of cylinders which respectively ensure the two phases of the compression or expansion, instead of each comprising two cylinders, can - in the star arrangement include any number of pairs of cylinders. . The cylinders charged with the first phase will generally have a different diameter than those charged with the second phase and the opposite pairs of the former will alternate on the periphery of the rotor with the opposite pairs of the latter.

   The lateral ducts of the cylinders of the first group will pass in front of the distribution orifices associated with a first oblique partition like the partition 65 in FIG. 12 and those of the cylinders of the second group will pass in front of a second oblique partition like that 66 of the same-figure.

   The star arrangement in fact makes it possible to multiply - according to an oonnue technique - the cylinders, without any particular difficulty. Thus has been shown in Figures 13 and 14 a variant of the pump according to the invention, oomporting six cylinders in a star, but in this case working in a single phase of compression or expansion.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 10>

   Six identical cylinders 70 are associated with a housing 71 and made integral with a wheel janbo 73 by means of lugs 72, -This rim is equipped in the case of the figure with a frame 74 which can receive a pneumatic tire.

   The control mechanism is constituted by an eccentric plate 75 keyed on the axis 76 carrying balls 77 on which rolls a ring 78 carrying articulated the connecting rods 79 connected to the pistons 80 of the cylinders 70.

   Another embodiment shown in Figures 15 and 16 shows a group of cylinders 81 mounted on a star and fixed by their upper part to a rim 82 by means of studs 83, the lower part of the cylinders being fixed to a housing 84. comprising inside the control mechanism consisting of a cam 85 formed of two juxtaposed heart-shaped disks and having on their internal face grooves 86 in which rollers roll. 87 carrying the connecting rods 88 mounted on the pistons 89. Rollers 90 are mounted on the housing at the bottom of the cylinders for the purpose of guiding the connecting rods in their reciprocating motion.

   The rim '82 can be divided into two parts joined together by means of two clamping bolts 91.

  Between each pair of adjacent cylinders a frame 92 carrying spikes is fixed to the housing in order to give more rigidity to the assembly.

   The star-shaped arrangement of the cylinders has the advantage of ensuring continuity of action and balancing all the better as the number of cylinders is greater. In the case of one-stage expansion (or suction) three pistons may be sufficient to ensure continuity of the action ;: in the case of two-stage expansion (or suction) the minimum number of cylinders is obviously equal at four.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 11>

     - In the numerous applications of the apparatus, the star arrangement of the cylinders constituting the engine block seems ideal for the construction of a drive wheel. In fact, this can be mounted either in a rim with or without pneumatic tires, figures 13 and 14, or in a toothed wheel for controlling pinions or racks, or else the bottom of the cylinders is provided with studs, for example for tractors, FIGS. 15 and 16 or else of blades necessary for navigation or by propeller blades in use in aviation.

   The arrangement according to Figures 11 and 12 can be mounted on a bicycle whose frame is tubular, the pedals actuating an air pump, the transmission being provided by a simple compressed air line.

   The intake and exhaust are connected to an inverter which is, in this case, the main control member.

   In the application on an automobile, the device can be used with compressed air reservoirs integrated into the frame and which can constitute compartments at different pressures; the controls are then reduced to simple valves and inverters placed on the compressed air lines. This arrangement thus eliminates all the current rigid control and transmission device, for example, gear change, clutch, transmission shaft, differentials, etc ... the accumulators will only have to ensure lighting and control. signaling by removing the starter.

   In addition, for a tractor, the body of the apparatus being constituted by a cylinder with one or more compartments at different pressures will allow its reversible operation to accumulate its charge of compressed air itself by means of a sedentary energy eg electricity.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 12>

   Another application can be realized as a braking device, for example, in railways, the apparatus allowing to considerably reduce the traction costs thanks to its faculty of recovery by braking.

   By the appropriate arrangement of the lock gates and with regard to navigation on rivers or reach canals the device can only use the force of the 'current' as propulsive energy.

   In maritime navigation, the device has' over turbines or other steam engines the advantages of perfect lubrication, the reversibility of its course and the tightness of its expansion.

     The application of the apparatus in aviation and in particular that of tourism makes it possible to replace the internal combustion engine with the advantage of eliminating the risks of fire, the propellant propeller being actuated with compressed air.

   The invention has marked advantages for the locomotion of any mobile moving in a fluid and whose walking force ost irregular: vehicle traveling on a road with hills and descents, boats traveling on waterways in irregular course. , etc ... ,, or for vehicles whose route includes many stops and departures: metro, taxis, lift, etc ...

   Of course, the embodiments described above as well as the applications listed have been given only by way of example, the device being able to receive other applications, in particular as a servo motor for controlled fluids, wind motors, etc. .. without going beyond the scope of the invention.
