<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

"Utensils for preparing food and eating it at camp."
The invention relates to utensils for preparing food and eating it, especially for use in camping, and consisting of two parts, for example, a bundle and a pan or. A deep plate and a flat plate, assembled together. of a box and a cover, and which, in this closed position, have tightening straps, one on each side, located in opposition.
These utensils, which among others are used by soldiers in the field, will be referred to below under the name of mess tins. The Danish army uses the word "individual casserole".
The object of the present invention is to provide a construction of a bowl whereby at the same time a large number of advantages are realized which make it particularly useful in all circumstances.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The main feature of the present invention is constituted by coupling elements by which the two parts of which the bowl is made can be assembled and carried in one hand, in a position such that simultaneously access to the two parts of the bowl is available. bowl. This is of particular importance, for example, in the case of the distribution of food at the camp where the soldiers, in single file, pass to the place of distribution and receive in hand two dishes one after the other.
In an especially advantageous embodiment, where the bowl, consisting of a box and a pan, has substantially the shape of a parallelepiped with four rather long surfaces and two shorter side surfaces, the coupling element, according to the The invention consists of a strapping known per se as a handle, which strapping is rotatably attached externally at the ends, for example to the two shorter side surfaces of the box so that at both sides the strapping can be tilted outwardly above the edge of the bowl, which strapping has in its middle a rotating sleeve preferably mounted on a loop in the middle of the strapping and outside the plane of the latter, and which has one or more openings for a L-shaped movable coupling element,
which is guided on the sleeve.
According to the invention, the clamping straps which, when the bowl is closed, are located directly in opposition to each other, are mounted and dimensioned so that at least the long part of the element coupling of the box, shaped in L, can pass through the two, while the pan advantageously has a supporting element by means of which the two parts can be carried, when they are coupled, if one does not want to carry them directly by the strapping of the box.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In a particularly advantageous embodiment, the supporting element of the pan consists of an almost hairpin-shaped strapping, made of metal wire, which is rotatably attached, externally, with its ends bent inwardly, to a surface. / which forms part of the lifting rim of the pan, which strapping is intended, by turning about 180 to 210 from the position in which it is located near the bottom of the box, to cooperate with stop elements which stop the bearing element in a desired position.
The carrying element of the pan advantageously consists, according to the invention, of an L-shaped strapping made of two parallel metal wires, the two free ends of which, curved inwards, are mounted in rotation and movably in two hinge-forming parts, strapping which cooperates with stop elements with guiding surfaces, fixed to the pan in such a way that the two free ends, during rotation, are separated from each other against the inherent elasticity of the strapping and then when the strapping. leaves the guide surfaces, they slide behind them in the stopped position, from which they cannot be released until the branches of the strapping are separated from each other.
The invention will be further explained below with reference to the drawing where: FIG. 1 shows an embodiment of a bowl, according to the invention, consisting of a box and a pan, side elevational view, FIG. 2 shows the two parts of the bowl in FIG. 1, mounted one on top of the other and coupled together, FIG. 3 shows the two parts of the bowl in FIG. 1) mounted side by side and coupled together, Figs. 4 and 5 show the stop element for the carrying element of the box, and FIG. 6 shows, on a larger scale, the box of the bowl according to FIGS. 1 and 2.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The bowl in FIG. 1 consists of two parts, a box 1 and a pan 2. Box 1 has two mounting parts 3, to which a hoop 4 is rotatably attached, which hoop has in its middle a loop 5 which carries a rotating sleeve. 6 with openings in which a coupling element, L-shaped 7, 8, can slide, which consists of a longer part 7 and a shorter part 8, parts which can be seen clearly in FIG. 6. On the pan and the box, two fasteners or fasteners shaped like a hoop, 9 and 10, are mounted in opposition to each other, fasteners in which is supported part 7 of the element d. 'L-shaped coupling.
Mounted on the pan is a strapping 11 which is rotatably attached at one end in a mounting portion 12, the pattern of which is clearly shown in Figs. 4 and 5.
The mounting part 12 has two hollow cylindrical parts 13 in which the inwardly curved ends.
The rim of the strapping, shown in dotted lines, is introduced from the outside. If we imagine the strapping erected in a position at right angles to the plane of the paper and tilted upwards towards the upper edge of the paper and in the plane of the paper, its branches will be pushed outwards by guide surfaces. 14 on the part of the fitting 12, against the elasticity proper to strapping, and finally slide behind the guide surfaces in the position shown in FIG. 5 by two dotted circles 15, position in which the hooping is stopped.
The strapping 11 used as a handle will then take the position shown in FIG. 2 in relation to the lid or pan 2.
In Fig. 2, the pan 2 is placed above the box 1, with its recess facing upwards, and the L-shaped coupling element 7, 8, is shown with its long part 7 carried in the clips 9 and 10 from the box and the pan respectively.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The box and the pan are mated to each other in this way so that they can be lifted together, e.g. by means of the ring.
11 olagq serving as a handle.
When, as shown in FIG. 2, box 2 is placed on top of box 1, the bottom of the pan forms a lid for box 1. However, it is also possible to realize the coupling in another way, namely, as shown. in Fig. 3 where the box and the pan are side by side. This arrangement is especially advantageous when the bowl is to be used in the case where two dishes are to be distributed, then having access to the box as well as to the pan so that pea soup, for example, can be served in the pan. box and bacon placed in the pan.
In the perspective drawing in FIG. 6 it can be seen how the coupling element 7, 8, L-shaped, can be positioned to be used as a handle for the box. The shorter part 8 of the L-shaped coupling element 7, 8 is inserted into the clip 10 in order to make a rigid connection between the box and the coupling element 7, 8. The shape and form The special mounting of the coupling element thus conditions a double possibility of application.
The approximately parallelepiped shape of the box results in many advantages, among others that there are wedges which are well suited to serve as jaws. The box and the pan are advantageously made of aluminum with a thickness of about 1 1/2 mm, and the other parts are of stainless steel. The steel wire employed may have a thickness, for example, from 3 to 4 mm.
The shape of the strapping 4 of the box with the sleeve 6 and the coupling element 7, 8 ensures, thanks to the introduction of a branch, for example, into it, the easy realization of a suspension stable of the box above a stove, eg. of a campfire.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
The invention is not limited to the examples of embodiments shown in the drawing. By way of example, it should be mentioned that the coupling element, 7,8, can be formed by a plate-shaped part., Which can slide in a recess in the sleeve 6. Other elements can. furthermore be placed internally or externally on the bowl * There may be several clips 9 or 10, and the cross sections of the different elements, eg, of the coupling element 7,8, can be optionally chosen. The loop on the strapping 4 can be omitted and in this case the sleeve 6 can advantageously be prevented from sliding, by using other suitable means.
