<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"Improvements to spectacle frames".
The present invention relates to improvements to spectacle frames made of plastic or the like.
Its main purpose is to make the branches of said frames more flexible, in the vicinity of their hinge, at the same time as more elastic and more solid, which allows greater ease of adaptation of the bezel to the conformation of the head of the user, a reduction in the pressure of the arms of the telescope on the sides of the user's head, less fatigue of the articulation axis of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
branches ot greater resistance to the bending work of said branches in the vicinity of their point of articulation, which reduces the risk of breakage in this region.
The invention essentially consists in incorporating in the mean plane of the branch parallel to the hinge axis and on the side of the hinge a thin tongue of hardened steel, or other elastic metal, at the same time as the thickness of the branch is reduced over part of the length of the steel tongue. Said tongue is advantageously made integral with the hinge serving to articulate the branch in the. making it cross by rivets securing the hinge to the branch.
The invention will be better understood by means of the appended figures and the description relating thereto, which provide, by way of nonlimiting example, an embodiment thereof.
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a spectacle branch established and shaped according to the invention, with its articulation on the side of the frame.
FIGS. 2 and 3 represent an elevational view of a spectacle frame according to the invention with one of the branches folded over the frame of the frame.
According to Figure 1, we see at 1 the edge of the frame of the frame, étaht the recess for the inclusion of the lens.
The male part 3 of the hinge body is fixed on the edge of the frame, while the female part ± is fixed on the articulated branch 5. In the thickness of this branch is embedded a blade 6 of hardened steel , thin, flexible and resistant, or any other material having equivalent mechanical qualities. This blade is shown in dotted lines in Figure 1 and in thin lines in Figures 2 and 3. It can be provided with recesses ± according to various drawings to increase flexibility and promote its incorporation.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
in the subject matter of the branch. The axis of the hinge is shown at 7. The fixing rivets of the hinge are shown at 8.
They pass through the tongue to help fix it in the material of the branch.
Finally, the latter is flattened at 9, on one of its faces, or on both over part of the length of the tongue and along planes parallel to the tongue, in order to increase its flexibility.
The invention is, of course, susceptible of numerous variant embodiments depending on the nature of the materials used and the shapes of the frames, branches and hinges.
CLAIMS.
1.- Improvements to spectacle frames made of plastic or the like consisting essentially of embedding a thin, flexible and resistant metal strip, such as hardened steel, in the part of the branch adjacent to the joint and in thinning said branch in parallel to said strip over part of the length of the latter.
