<EMI ID=3.1>
<EMI ID=5.1>
INSTRUMENT FOR WRITING.
The present invention relates to an instrument for writing with a writing member mounted on a cartridge containing the ink. This instrument is characterized by the fact that, in an elongated support, there is a sleeve which can be inserted therein longitudinally from the outside and which serves to house the cartridge which can slide longitudinally in a limited manner in the sleeve and by the fact that a clamping member on which the sliding sleeve can act serves to fix the cartridge in its position before the use of the writing member, all in such a way that, when the clamping member is brought into the rest position, the cartridge moves back under the action of its weight in the holder, when the latter is in a corresponding position, after which, by releasing the clamping member, the latter prevents the cartridge from coming out of the holder.
This makes it possible, using relatively simple means, on the one hand, to positively fix the cartridge in the position of use of the writing member, so as to resist
to the pressure that is felt when writing, and, on the other hand, to prevent the writing organ, which has retreated into the support, in the position of non-use, from leaving this support, which excludes any untimely contact with the ink adhering to the writing member, without it being necessary to put a protective cap on the corresponding end of the support. This is particularly advantageous in the case of a short interruption of the write job.
There is shown, in longitudinal section, an example
embodiment of the invention, in the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1 shows the instrument in the position of use. Figure 2 explains the operation of the instrument used to move the ink cartridge back into the holder.
The support is made of two parts 1 and 2, cylindrical and hollow, screwing on each other, a front part 3 screwed on part 1 and a rear cover 4, screwed on the corresponding end , opposite of the game
2. On the cover 4, protrudes one of the ends of a pusher 5 which, by means of an extra thickness 6, can slide longitudinally in part 2 of the support and which,
at the corresponding end, is made integral, by means of <EMI ID = 1.1>
finally in the holder. The sleeve 8, protected in the support 1-4, comprises, at its front end, an inner ring 8 'into which is screwed a clamp 9 consisting of a sleeve in which longitudinal slots
10 form four jaws 11. These are reinforced towards their ends lying outside the support and cooperate with the front mouth 12 of part 3 of the support, which is of corresponding shape in cross section. A cartridge 13, containing the ink, is threaded into the sleeve 8 which can slide longitudinally and its reduced part 14, projecting on a shoulder 14 ', is provided at the front of the ball 15 for writing. This is
<EMI ID = 2.1>
cartridge 13, used for the arrival of ink. A coil spring 16, arranged in the front part of the support, bears, at one end, against a shoulder 3 'of part 3 of the support and, at the other, against the sleeve 8. This spring 16, which
<EMI ID = 3.1>
the rear end of the support and, consequently, to keep the clamp 9 closed. An intermediate space 17 (fig.l) allows limited movement of the cartridge 13 in the sleeve 8, that is to say up to the tenon 7 of the pusher 5, which enters the sleeve 8, when the clamping effect of the clamp 9 on the reduced part 14 of the cartridge 13. An elastic arm 18, provided at the rear end of the support is fixed, is removed, removable way, by the rear cover
4, by means of a curved branch, on the corresponding end of part 2 of the support. This elastic arm 18 serves, in cooperation with the support 1-4, to fix the latter, removably, for example on the edge of a pocket, etc.
In the position of the instrument according to the invention shown in FIG. 1, the reduced part 14 of the cartridge 13 enters the clamp 9, which is immobilized in the closed position by the pressure spring 16. The shoulder 14 'of the cartridge 13 bears on the inner ring 8' of the sleeve 8. Consequently, the cartridge 13
is immobilized by the clamp 9 which clamps its reduced part
14. In this position, the writing instrument, with its support, is able to write, as can be understood without more.
To bring the instrument to the non-use position, the pusher 5 is pushed into the support, which, by overcoming the resistance of the spring 16, causes a corresponding relative displacement of the sleeve 8 in the support, so that the clamp 9 protrudes further from the support, correspondingly, and that the jaws 11 move away from each other due to their elasticity and come, for example, in the position shown in dotted lines in Figure 2. The jaw spacing 11 results from their cooperation with the mouth 12 of part 3 of the support. Therefore, the clamp 9 opens and the support is then put in a position such that the cartridge slides under the action of its weight (the clamp 9 is open) in the socket 8, towards the rear end of the support , as shown in figure 2. This movement is limited by the <EMI ID = 4.1>
bush 8, of pusher 5. Then releasing the pusher
<EMI ID = 5.1>
ment towards the rear end of the support by driving the cartridge 13. This withdrawal of the sleeve 8 ceases as soon as the clamp 9 is closed by cooperation with the mouth 12 of part 3 of the support. The ball 15 is then inside the clamp 9 which blocks the reduced part 14 of the cartridge 13, which is then immobilized in the corresponding position and keeps the ball 15 protected behind the mouth of the clamp. 9.
