<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

A new flexible tube intended to act as ----------------------------------------- --------- siphon
The present invention relates to a novel flexible tube, made of rubber or a suitable similar material, and which is intended to extract a liquid from a container, to be subsequently transported to another container.
One of the simplest methods of transferring liquids from one container to another consists in the use of a tube, preferably flexible, which acts on the basis of hydraulic and pneumatic principles. in order to put the said siphon in a condition to begin its action, the tube is generally filled with the liquid to be transferred, or otherwise one operates by a suction produced by the mouth, which makes the rise of the liquid possible.
While these two processes produce the desired effect, they however in many cases have insufficient or dangerous results due to the nature of the liquid to be mounted when there is no other means left, unless a pump is used. eluvatory to obtain the useful effect; but we find ourselves there in front of an element that we do not always have at hand, and in addition, it should be noted that its mechanism is not suitable for raising all kinds of liquids.
Taking these observations into account, a new type
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
A highly flexible siphon has been devised, which can be easily used for the extraction of all kinds of liquids, even when they are of a corrosive nature, since the suction is carried out by means of a simple procedure, which is exempt from any mechanism.
In order to be able to better explain the nature of the invention and the manner in which it may be practically carried out, an example thereof will be described hereinafter with the aid of the drawings which accompany this specification.
Fig. 1 shows a longitudinal vertical section of the element according to the invention.
Fig. G shows one of the many practical realizations of said element.
The tube consists of a member which is preferably made of rubber or other suitable flexible material molded.
Said element should be tubular and of a uniform diameter, but should however include a small chamber or pocket 1 having a cylindrical configuration while being of adequate length and diameter, yet having such a wall thickness. to facilitate the volume reduction of said chamber by simple manual pressure.
The chamber 1 is located in a branch of the element, and which has a greater length than the opposite branch 3.
It should be mentioned that the branch must have a smaller volume or at the most equal to that of chamber 1.
Operation: to extract the liquid contained in a container 4, it is necessary to place a container 5 beforehand at a level lower than the first named.
When the tube intended to serve as a siphon to operate the transfer has been arranged as indicated in fig. , that is to say that the longest branch has been introduced into the container 4, and the short branch in
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
receiving receptacle 5, the device will be completely ready for perfect operation.
By applying pressure on chamber 1 using one hand and closing the outlet 6 with the other hand, the volumetric capacity of said chamber will be reduced, and the air which was contained therein has been expelled. . When the hand has ceased its pressure on chamber 1, suction will occur, and then releasing outlet 6, the current of liquid will be formed; the rise through the interior of the tubular branch 2 will begin to occur, pass through the chamber 1 and eventually flow into the container 5 through the tubular branch 3.
As is clear from the foregoing, the siphon-forming element must give satisfaction from all points of view, given that the absence of any mechanism forms a practical, economical and efficient element, finding its use for the transfer. of all kinds of liquids.
