 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

La figure 1 représente la machine vue en plan;
La figure 2 représente la machine vue en éléva- tion ;
La figure 3 représente la machine vue de profil;

  Machine for the manufacture of cardboard boxes for packaging.

   The present invention relates to a machine intended to manufacture cardboard cases for packaging of the type described in the patent application, in the name of the same Applicant, dated June 25, 1948. for "Etuib in corrugated cardboard for packaging".

   The machines currently used in the cardboard industry would not make it possible to manufacture cardboard cases where the grooves are transverse; they are only suitable for cases with longitudinal grooves.

   On the other hand, part of the work necessary for this manufacture is usually done by hand, which is impractical and uneconomical for mass production.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   With the aim of allowing easier continuous manufacture, reducing material handling to a minimum, the machine consists essentially of a device which, installed at the exit of a machine of the so-called "machine gun" type, fed in a manner. continuous by a roll of cardboard, carries out in a continuous way the shaping of the cardboard strip cut by the machine gun, the gluing of the closing strip and the cutting of the cases to the desired length.

   The machine according to the invention thus has the double advantage of being adapted to the form of case mentioned above and of being easily suitable for mass production.

   The accompanying drawings show an embodiment of the machine according to the invention:
Figure 1 shows the machine in plan;
Figure 2 shows the machine seen in elevation;
FIG. 3 represents the machine seen from the side;
FIGS. 4, 5, 6, 7 represent sections on a larger scale made respectively along the lines: AA, BB, CC, DD.

   The "machine gun" 1 is of the type generally used in cardboard but comprising certain transformations, in particular the replacement of the distribution table by a flat iron support intended to receive the cardboard roll.

   The cardboard roll 2, debited by the "machine gun" 1, is taken out of the latter, flat, between sheet metal pieces called bezels 3, which bend it progressively.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 sively to present it edge to edge at the gluing.

   For this purpose, the successive bezels have sections of progressively different shapes which correspond to the cardboard shapes shown in Figures 4 to 7.

   These bezels are fixed on a wooden table with a soft woven hub; their number,;, if ;, variable: their dimensions can also vary according to the sizes of the cases.

   At the exit of the bezels, the cardboard passes over two drive rollers 4 on which the folding is completed and is carried out the bonding under pressure of a strip of gummed paper 5, previously moistened, intended to close the cases in the lengthwise.

   Finally, the machine comprises a cylindrical sheet metal drum 6, having a notch 7, which allows the attachment of a blade 8 serving to cut the cases to the desired size. A counter-blade 9 is formed by a cylindrical drum covered with strips of felt on which strips of leather are glued.

   The machine is controlled by an electric motor 10, via a suitable transmission comprising a speed reducer.

   Machine gun 1 is driven using this transmission by belts 11 and 12.

   The end of machine cutting blade is driven by a chain 13 meshing with a pinion 14 controlled by the transmission.

   The length of the cut is made variable by loading the gear ratio.
