Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

    @ "Perfectionnements aux lattes de volets brisés, et volets brisés faits au moyen de celles-ci".

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

    @ "Improvements to the slats of broken shutters, and broken shutters made by means of these".

   The present invention relates to a metal slat intended for the construction of broken shutters used as solid or lattice doors, doors, fences and partitions.

   These types of shutters are intended in a known manner for closing large openings, or also openings in which it is not possible to fit roller shutters due to the lack of space above the window. opening to close.

   The object of the invention is to provide an improved slat which greatly simplifies the construction of these shutters, by eliminating any intermediate connecting member between the various elements of the shutter, which are directly articulated together.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 corn.

   This is obtained according to the invention by shaping strips of sheet metal in the form of the slats of known roller shutters, constituted by directly articulated slats, with the difference that the two tabs wound in a spiral, instead of being bent towards the opposite sides of the slats, as in the usual roller shutters, are curved towards the same side.

   The adjacent slats making up the shutter are therefore hinged in the opposite direction, that is, if the anterior side of one of the slats is the one from which the convex side of the beginning of each spiral wound part can be seen , the adjacent slats, when viewed from the anterior side, show the concave side of the beginning of their spirally wound legs.

   It is evident that since the pivoting sliding of the slats is possible or easy only in the direction in which the two spirally wound legs tend to come into parallel relation, i.e. with the beginning and the end spirals close together, a shutter made of slats as indicated above, cannot be wound on a drum but must be folded zig-zag in a suitable housing or space .

   It will be noted that in this specification, the term "shutter" includes not only shutters proper, made of solid slats hinged together, but also shutters or lattice doors whenever they are composed of window slats. your or having other openings, or rectangular organs; @ laries similar to trellises, provided, along their long edges, legs wound in a spiral curved towards the same side of the members similar to slats.

   The invention will be better understood from the following specification given with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 fig.l shows by way of example a cross section through a complete slat, articulated at the ends of two slats, one of which has a ribbed body.

   Fig. 2 is a plan view of a broken shutter obtained by hinging slats of the kind shown in FIG. 1, the shutter being viewed from the part of the space in which the slats are connected in the folded position.

   Fig. 3 shows an elevation and plan view, but on a reduced scale, of a shutter of the type mentioned above.

   Fig. 4 is a vertical section, parts being removed by breaking, by an articulation point of a shutter and by the upper / lower guide members, and figs. 5,6,7 and 8 are views of some construction details.

   In figs.l and 2, the shutter comprises a number of similar sheet metal slats, consisting of a substantially flat part A or A 'or a ribbed part A "of rectangular shape, the edges of which end in two parts wound in spiral B, B 'which can be considered as the images of each other, seen in a mitoir, and which usually extend over a little more than 360.

   As is clearly shown in the drawing, each spiral-wound leg B which, when viewed in one direction, is coiled or curved clockwise, is hinged to the spiral-coiled leg B in the same direction, of an adjacent slat, but which appears to be curved in the opposite direction unintentionally because the front side of the slats A 'or A "corresponds to the rear sides of the slats, A.

   It is evident that when a closure is composed of hinged slats as mentioned, in the manner of a folded shutter, known per se for this type of shutter, the spirally wound tabs hinged together will tend to roll up. in a direction in which they come approximately in parallel with one

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 with the other, as can be seen clearly in fig. 2, and for this reason the rolled tabs B on one side of the slats will therefore appear curved in the opposite direction to that of the needles of a clock, while those B 'on the opposite side will appear curved in the direction of the needles. of a watch.

   As will be apparent to those familiar with the manufacture of this type of shutter, the manner in which these slats are brought together depends on the provision of suitable means for guiding and moving the slats when the shutter is to be folded.

   As in similar shutters, the various articulated elements are suspended, with correspondence of the alternating articulation joints, from upper rollers R and R 'carried by vertical members U projecting from the plates W fixed to the slats A , for example by Z bolts, while the hinges which are not directly suspended, carry displacement members or cams C (see also fig. 7) made in one piece with the plates W and which, when closing must be folded, favor the folding of the elements so as to bring the hinges out of the plane of the shutter in the closed position, this closing being facilitated by internal guides S, in which slide the bolts P and P 'projecting on the lower ends of the hinges,

   as well as by the upper guides V in which the upper rollers R and R 'roll.

   The bending is also controlled by the arrangement of certain of the lower bolts P which, in correspondence with the hinges B, are long enough not to penetrate into the side guides G while the adjacent short bolts P 'provided in correspondence with the hinges B 'can enter therein. As seen in figs. 5 to 8, the bolts P and P 'are integral with or fixed to the plates V bolted to the slats A.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

   As can be seen from the drawing, a guide G having an inclined mouth part, along which slide the long bolts P which cannot penetrate the guide, is used in these constructions. The bolts P and P 'can obviously be provided with rollers or other rolling members instead of being simple sliding members.

   It also follows from the foregoing specification that whenever provision is made for spirally wound tabs such as B and B 'at the edges of rectangular members, even when these are not simple sheet metal slats but are in contrast to the frame, lattice or grid members, it is possible to obtain folding shutters which are of the lattice, slotted or perforated type and the like.

   It is therefore evident that the invention can be carried out in a large number of different ways all based on the principle set out above.
