Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

    @

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

    @

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

  Method and device for producing a series of photographic reproductions.

   Photographic reproductions are generally carried out on an image carrier, for example a sheet or a sheet of paper, one of the faces of which is sensitized.

   There are also image holders whose two faces are sensitized; their composition is such that the light projected on one of the faces does not influence the sensitive layer applied to the other face.

   Such an image carrier with two sensitized faces is particularly suitable for producing series of photographic reproductions, for example for reproducing a series of pages from a book; a certain number of photographic negatives are then projected onto the image carrier, generally in a very small format.

    @

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   Until now, it was customary to make such series of reproductions, to place the image holder in front of a magnifying device and to turn the image holder after each exposure. As this is, in general, a long tape which unwinds from one drum to wind on another and bare these two drums are housed in a housing, so the whole housing must be turned over, this yes constitutes an operation complicated.

   One could also mount an enlarging apparatus on either side of the image holder and insert a film in each enlarging apparatus, one of the films carrying the negatives of the odd pages and the other that of the even pages. This process has a serious drawback: it is necessary to take from the original piece, therefore from the book, photos alternately on two films.

   You could also take pictures on a single film, split them afterwards and place them detached in the magnifiers, but this method is also very complicated.

   The process according to the invention obviates this drawback; a certain number of negatives, arranged in an uninterrupted series on a carrier, are alternately projected, by different routes, onto the two faces of an image carrier 9 with two sensitized faces.

   To this end, it is always possible to simultaneously produce two reproductions using two objectives arranged one beside the other, the trajectories of the light from these objectives towards the image carrier comprising reflecting elements yes simultaneously projecting onto the two sides of the image holder the light coming out of the two objectives.

   However, it is also possible to make two reproductions each time using a single objective by placing in the path

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 light from this lens to the image carrier, a movable reflecting element which projects light alternately on one side of the image carrier and on the other.

   The invention further relates to devices for carrying out such methods.

   The description of the appended drawing, given by way of non-limiting example, will make it clear how the invention could be carried out, the features which emerge both from the bare text of the drawing being, of course, part of the invention.

   FIG. 1 schematically shows such a device comprising two objectives.

   Fig.2 shows a detail of a device comprising only one lens and equipped with a movable reflector element.

   The device shown in fig.l has two drums 1 and 2 which move the film? which carries an unbroken series of negatives, for example the successive pages of a book. Above the film are two light sources 4 and 5, the light of which is projected, via two condensers 6 and 7, on the film 3 yes rests on a guide 8.

   Under the film 3 are two objectives 9 and 10, each of which projects an image onto one of the faces of the image holder 11, which two reels 12 and 1S move along a guide 14. In the device shown in the drawing , the direction of movement of the film and that of the movement of the image carrier 11 intersect at right angles; two lie in the plane of the drawing. However, preferably, the image carrier 11 and the coils 12 and 1S will be arranged so that the above two directions intersect; The image carrier is then moved in a direction perpendicular to the drawing plane, while one of the coils 12 and 13 is in front of this plane, and the other behind this plane.

   In this way, more space is available for these coils which can be quite bulky.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

In the light paths of the objectives 9 and 10 towards the image holder 11 are arranged the mirrors 15 to 20, yes ensure that the light paths undergo three diffractions of 90 and that the two images appear simultaneously on both sides of the holder. picture. In this device, 'the film? must each time move by a length equal to the length of two negatives.

   In the device, of which fig. 2 shows a detail, a single objective is located under the film and the light path from the objective to the image holder comprises the movable mirrors 15 and 16 which, with the aid of placed mirrors in the same way ore the mirrors 17 to 20 of the device shown in fig.l, allow the light to be projected alternately and as desired on one of the faces of the image holder. In the position occupied by mirrors 15 and 16 shown in solid lines, mirrors 17 and 19 project light onto the left face of the image holder; in the position occupied by mirrors 15 and 16 shown in dotted lines, mirrors 18 and 20 project light onto the right face of the image holder.

   Mirrors 15 and 16 can of course be replaced by a single folding mirror '.

   Instead of mirrors 15 to 20, one or more reflector prisms can also be used.

   The use of these procedures and devices therefore makes it possible to record on a film, in a single uninterrupted series, a series of negatives, for example the pages of a book, and to reproduce this series without interruption.
