Watertight seal for doors.
In order to make the seals of the portas watertight, in particular the lower seal near the ground, strips of flexible material, such as rubber, have hitherto been used; feutra, etc ... fixed to the lower door edge and applying exactly to the floor. However, these bands have drawbacks: on the one hand, they wear out quickly and, on the other hand, they cannot easily slide over obstacles on the floor in the door opening area, such as as carpets; these bands prevent the door from closing and, if forced to open or close, they move the mat, stuff it and damage it and, in any case, damage themselves and lose their seal, even when the door is closed.
All these drawbacks are avoided by using the sealed device according to the invention, by means of a

forced control of the device (. the sealing, control whose operation will depend on the movement of the door, the sealing device being, when the door is opened, raised above the floor and. its position has an effect and is not returned to its initial position until immediately before the port closes.
In the accompanying drawing, there is shown, by way of nonlimiting examples, ¯eux embodiments of the object of the invention. On this drawing :
Figure 1 represents, in perspective; the first embodiment of the sealing device fixed to the opposite face of the rebate of a two-leaf door, the left leaf being closed and the right leaf partially open.
FIG. 2 shows, also in peorspective, the second embodiment, in the case of fixing on the face opposite that of the rebate of a single leaf door.
The airtightness device according to the invention comprises two metal bands 1 and 2, extending over the entire width of the leaf, of unequal widths and articulated together by means of hinges (fig. 1) In re the two blades of the widest part 2 of the hinge is fixed a gasket 3 extending beyond their lower edge; this filling is made of flexible material tell? than felt, rubber or the like.
The slats of the narrowest part 1 of the hinge are fixed with screws on the leaf, parallel to the lower edge 4 of the door, at a height such that, when the wide part 2 of the hinge is in effective position, that is to say in a vertical position, its blank trim '3 Applies it contiguously to the floor. Below this movable part 2, a leaf spring 5 is
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
fixed either on it, or on the door leaf and, when the door is open, this spring keeps the oscillating part 2, 3 raised relative to the ground.
In the sealing device 1 to 3, shown in Figure 1 and fixed on the rebate side of the door, the effect position of the oscillating part 2, 3 is, when the door is closed, imposed and maintained by means a buffer 6, projecting into the void of the door and made for example of rubber; this buffer is fixed at a suitable height to the frame 7 near the rebate.
If, on the contrary, it is necessary to fix the sealing device on the face of the door opposite this rebate (fig. 2), provision is made, in order to lower the movable part 2, 3 into its position of. indeed, a thrusting lever 8, which is rigidly fixed to part 2, 3 and forms with the latter a lever of the first kind, with a central axis of oscillation. it is preferable to mount the lever 8 on the side edge which carries the lock, so that, when the door is closed, it rests against the frame 7 by rising and rests on the floor , the oscillating part of the sealing device by its lower edge.
