Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

  Folding metal base The object of the present invention is a folding metal base, characterized by end crossmembers which can be folded at at least one point along their length and by side members carrying arms intended to support the edges of the metal base. the unfolded position of the bed base.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   The appended drawing shows by way of example an embodiment of the bed base forming the subject of the invention.

   Fig. 1 is a side view, in the folded position.

   Fig. 2 is a plan view in the folded position.

   Fig. 3 is a plan view, in the unfolded position.

   Fig. 4 is a front view thereof, in the unfolded position.

   Fig. 5 is a front view in the folded position.

   Fig. 6 shows a detail.

   In the embodiment shown, the bed base comprises two rigid tubular side members 1, permanently assembled, by two short uprights 13, with two end cross members in "U" shape 2. These cross members carry at each of their ends an extension element 3 mounted on a hinge 4. The. uprights 13 have hooks 5 intended for the removable mounting of the bed base, in head and footboard pieces not shown, forming with the side members 1 the bed frame, this frame being the length of the bed base .

   The metal bed base is formed of longitudinal elements comprising springs 6 linked together by loops 7. These loops are themselves connected transversely by springs 8.

   The lateral longitudinal elements are supported at four intermediate points by arms 9 fixed to the side members 1. Telescopic arms, or two sets of arms, short for mounting in the folded position, and long ones for mounting in position can be used. unfolded.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

  The latter solution is that shown in the drawing.

  The arm 9 is held in position by a pin 10, which at the same time blocks the fixing sleeve 11 of the arm 9 on the spar 1. The arms 9 have at their free end a hook 12 intended to retain the loop 7 corresponding.

   We can also possibly.prévoir extension elements of the head and footboard pieces, but they are not essential.

   The mode of use of this bed base is as follows: For assembly in the folded position, it suffices to place removable springs 8 between the loops 7 of the lateral longitudinal elements, which are juxtaposed towards the middle of the bed base. Short arms 9 support the loops 7 of the longitudinal elements which are located to the right of the hinges 4.

   For mounting in the unfolded position ,. the removable springs 8 in the middle are removed, the bed base is unfolded and the short arms 9 are replaced by long ones, the end of which supports the loops 7 of the lateral longitudinal elements.

   As a variant, telescopic arms may be provided which are mounted so as to be able to rotate on the side members and which have automatic stops marking the two positions of use of these arms.

   The mattress is in two pieces, which can either be superimposed or placed next to each other. Such 1 and 2-seater box springs can be used, in

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 hotels, for example, where they will make it possible to deal with exceptional crowds with current equipment, and to use rooms either for one person or for two
In the example shown, the end rails are in a "U" profile and bend to a quarter of their length. Cross members of all appropriate profiles can be provided. These sleepers may bend over a fraction of their length less than a quarter. In this way, it will be possible to have a box spring, the length of which can be fixed to different dimensions, among other things, one or one and a half seat bases.
