BESCHRIJVING VAN EEN LASTFIETS
Voorwerp van een uitvindingsoktrooi, aangevraagd in dato van 3 Februari 1949, door den Heer ALIJN Gustaaf, wonende Bevrijdingslaan, 257, te Gent.
Het rijtuig is een tweewielige fiets, voor het vervoer van een last tot ongeveer 100 Kgr., met het bijzonder ken- merk dat de laadruimte zich bevindt tussen vóór- en acher- wiel, en vóór de bestuurder.
Hierbij werd gebruik gemaakt van de mogelijkheid en het voordeel, niet geboden door de gewone tweewielige last- fiets waar de last boven voor- of achterwiel ligt, de bodem van de laadruimte, samen met het zwaartepunt van het geheel, zo laag mogelijk bij de grond te brengen, waardoor belangrijk aan stabiliteit en gemak bij het rijden gewonnen werd.
Ten einde de nodige stevigheid te bekomen werden de ribben der laadruimte en het frame (kader) als één geheel uitgevoerd in gelaste stalen buizen.
Ten einde het sturen door de stuurstang van het voorwiel (door tussenvoeging van de laadruimte niet direct bruikbaar door den fietser) zo normaal mogelijk te maken, werd, juist vóór de bestuurder, een tweede stuurstang voorzien, welke door paralleelkoppeling aan de voorste stuurstang verbonden werd, langsover de laadruimte.
De bijgaande tekeningen laten toe de essentiële prac- tische vormgeving der beschreven bijzondere karakteristieken na te gaan.

Use was made of the possibility and advantage, not offered by the ordinary two-wheeled load bike where the load is above the front or rear wheel, the bottom of the load compartment, together with the center of gravity of the whole, as low as possible to the ground thereby gaining important stability and ease of driving.
In order to obtain the necessary sturdiness, the ribs of the loading space and the frame (frame) were made of welded steel tubes as a whole.
